Chapter 2187: Chapter 2090: Huh?

At this point, Huo Sining was ready to abandon the mine entirely. She lifted her head and said to Windsor Reed:

"Mr. Windsor, could you take me to other parts of the mountain later? I’ll help you investigate if another mine can be dug elsewhere. I’m afraid this mine is unlikely to yield any diamond rough—huh?"

Before finishing her sentence, Huo Sining’s eyebrows shot up, her eyes widened, and she let out an exclamation, a look of deep astonishment on her face.

Seeing Huo Sining’s expression, both Windsor Reed and Matthew felt baffled. They exchanged glances and cautiously asked:

"Miss Lina, is there something wrong?"

Huo Sining didn’t speak. She merely pressed her hands tightly against a section of the stone wall near the weathered belt, staring intently at a specific spot.

Seeing Huo Sining like this, Captain Matthew felt even more puzzled. He followed her gaze but couldn’t see anything unusual about the stone wall.

Captain Matthew entertained various guesses but managed to suppress his inner doubts.

Windsor Reed, however, couldn’t hold back and asked again: "Miss Lina, have you discovered something?"

Huo Sining stared at the stone wall for nearly a minute. Slowly, a smile curved her lips, and a surge of ecstasy rose within her. She instinctively looked up, raised her eyebrows at Windsor Reed, and said:

"Mr. Windsor, I think we don’t need to dig another mine."

Windsor Reed and Matthew were baffled by Huo Sining’s smile.

"Lina, what do you mean?" Windsor Reed asked, his heart slightly uneasy, looking at Huo Sining’s eerie smile.

This was the innermost part of the mine. Although there were mining lamps, the surroundings remained dimly lit, and the lamp light on Huo Sining’s face made her smile look even more odd, sending chills down Windsor Reed’s spine.

Huo Sining was unaware of Windsor Reed’s thoughts; her mind was entirely occupied by the scene she witnessed with the Heavenly Eye. When she had just touched the stone wall on the other side of the weathered belt, her Heavenly Eye saw a sky full of stars, with dazzling brilliance filling her view.

Having once unearthed a diamond at Oregon Diamond Park, Huo Sining naturally understood what this brilliance meant.

This was why she had been stunned earlier. She had already sentenced this mine to death, but never expected it to spring back to life, presenting such a dramatic reversal.

The weathered belt was clearly in front of her, an undeniable fact, yet why was there such a strange occurrence?

Huo Sining instinctively reached out to gently scrape off a piece of rock from the stone wall. The rock was part of the weathered belt, so it was light and crumbly. She simply used her fingernails to lightly scratch it off, and the stone fell. There were clear oxidation marks on the fragment, indicating it was a typical weathered belt stone.

Holding the fragment, Huo Sining’s face was full of confusion and inquiry, her mind racing with thoughts she couldn’t quite explain, but she trusted the Heavenly Eye wouldn’t be mistaken.

It had to be said that Windsor Reed’s luck was remarkably good. This seemingly doomed weathered belt managed to turn decay into brilliance. Even Huo Sining found the situation incredible.

"Mr. Earl, my point is that I think there’s still potential in this mine. I just checked this weathered belt and feel the situation might not be as bad as I initially thought. Maybe we can gamble again and give it a try!"

Upon hearing Huo Sining’s words, Windsor Reed’s eyes brightened, fixed tightly on her as he eagerly asked, "Really?"

Though Huo Sining was not a geologist, Windsor Reed knew she was a gamble expert and had once defeated the Jade Gambling King, so he pinned all his hopes on her. Hearing that there was still hope in the mine was the best news for him, and he chose to trust Huo Sining unconditionally.

However, Captain Matthew felt that Huo Sining’s words were nothing but wishful thinking and whimsical.

Although Windsor Reed previously emphasized that Huo Sining was more professional than geological experts, Captain Matthew remained incredulous.

To Captain Matthew, this woman named Lina seemed far too young and looked inexperienced. Not only did she lack geologic survey tools, but even a simple magnifying glass wasn’t at hand. Could someone like this be a geology expert?

Captain Matthew was highly skeptical, and seeing his boss trust this woman so much made him quite upset.

He had already scratched off several pieces of rock from the weathered belt, and those rocks crumbled easily. He also tapped the belt with a shovel, and the stones fell apart. The material was entirely loose, clearly weathered.

With those bleached rock layers, anyone with some understanding of geological change knew the implications of a fully weathered belt.

The situation attested to the fact that during the earthquake, this mountain range was not spared. If there were diamond roughs within the range, chances were certainly not optimistic.

"Boss, I suggest we proceed cautiously and avoid making hasty decisions. This weathered belt is unique. Without expert evaluation, we better not act." Matthew advised Windsor Reed earnestly.

Yet, to Matthew’s surprise, his earnest suggestions fell on deaf ears, as his boss seemed bewitched, blindly trusting this extraordinary Miss Lina.

He only heard Windsor Reed say, "I trust Miss Lina’s judgment. Everything shall be under Miss Lina’s direction."

Immediately, his boss seemed enchanted as he directly asked Miss Lina, "Lina, since you think it’s worth taking a chance, what do you propose?"

Listening to his boss, Matthew’s heart sank into despair. He inwardly regretted, thinking it was over. His boss had gone crazy, actually letting this absurd woman lead them. This was madness!

Indeed, moments later, Matthew heard the woman point at the stone wall and slowly say:

"Start digging directly from here, don’t expand sideways. Let’s go in fifty meters first and see what happens!"
