Chapter 113 -114 Not Even as Good as a Beast
Chu Yu’s face darkened with frustration; he had not anticipated that Shao He would claim responsibility for the deed. While he had come to confront her with accusations, he now found himself at a loss for words.
It was impossible for Shao He to have done it, as she had never been to the Marquis’s Mansion and thus could not possibly have had the opportunity to administer poison. Her admission was clearly meant to provoke him.
Luo Jiner stared with incredulous, almond-shaped eyes at Shao He. She opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by Shao He before she could speak.
“Marquis, you’d better think carefully about who stands to gain from this situation!”
Upon hearing this, Luo Jiner’s face contorted in anger.
She glared savagely at Shao He and bit out, “You’re despicable, trying to drive a wedge between the Marquis and me with this affair!”
...
“Despicable? I find Miss Luo even more contemptible. Compared to you, I am nothing. It is clear that you committed this vile act, yet you have the audacity to blame someone else.”
Shao He sneered in retort, detesting women like Luo Jiner who were insincere and affected.
“You’re talking nonsense!” Luo Jiner roared. “How could I possibly do such a thing? I never did! On the other hand, you have always wanted your child to return to the Marquis’s Mansion. It’s not impossible that you drugged them!”
“Ha, Miss Luo, if you never did it, what have you to fear?” Shao He replied with scorn.
“You!” Luo Jiner was left speechless by her response, unable to think of a comeback.
“Silence, all of you!” Chu Yu reprimanded coldly, his gaze fixed darkly on Shao He. “Is it true that they’ve been given Sterility Medicine?”
“Indeed. If Marquis doubts it, feel free to summon other Imperial Physicians for a diagnosis. Furthermore, my children bear the surname Shao and have nothing to do with the Marquis’s Mansion, not today nor in the future.” Shao He spoke with disdain, as though any association with Marquis Pingnan’s Mansion were a source of embarrassment.
Chu Yu was infuriated by her look and, upon learning that the child did not carry his surname, demanded angrily, “Why does the child take your surname?”
“The child’s father is dead; why can’t he take my surname?” Shao He faced his cold eyes without fear.
“Where in this world is there a rule that a child takes the mother’s surname!” Chu Yu found it unbelievable that she wouldn’t let the child carry the surname Chu – for him, it was an added insult.
Shao He chuckled lightly, her clear eyes revealing a chill as sharp as ice.
“Indeed, where in this world does a father seek to kill his own child and wife? They say even a tiger wouldn’t eat its cubs, but some people are worse than beasts!” Shao He spoke without mincing her words.
Chu Yu was stunned by her words and fell silent for a long moment. When he finally spoke, he asked, “Do you really not fear that I will kill you and that bastard child?”
“You would have to be capable of doing so!” she scoffed.
Chu Yu clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white and glared at her, grinding his teeth. After a moment, he said, “I’m telling you, even if the child bears your surname, he is still a scion of the Chu Family. I’d like to see what you can do to contest me!”
“I fear you will never get the chance; besides, you do not deserve to be the father of my child.”
Hearing her mockery, Chu Yu’s expression twisted viciously as he snarled, “Seeking death.”
The moment his words fell, a gust of wind struck him, and Chu Yu staggered back several steps before steadying himself. He stared in surprise at the attacker.
Shao He slowly withdrew her hand and smiled mockingly, “I never liked being at a disadvantage. No matter who you are, if you dare to bully me, I will make you pay back a hundredfold. If you don’t believe me, Marquis, you can try.”

Chu Yu, holding his chest, struggled to stand and glared at her. He spoke deliberately, “Shao He, what else are you hiding from me?”
He realized he might not know her as well as he thought. He was unaware of her medical skills and her martial arts. Who taught her all this?
Seeing Chu Yu’s expression and sensing that things were not going favorably, Luo Jiner brought the conversation back to the main issue. “Why does Doctor Shao slander me? When did I ever administer Sterility Medicine to them?”
“I had never heard of such a drug until you mentioned it. Even if you hold a grudge against me, you can’t falsely accuse me like that!”
Shao He glanced over to see Luo Jiner looking pitifully at her. Before she could speak, Chu Yu interjected first, “Jiner hasn’t done anything wrong and yet you accuse her. You’re utterly despicable!”
Chu Yu’s eyes showed loathing as he rebuked her, seemingly trying to recover his dignity from earlier.
Shao He waved her hand impatiently, “I don’t have time to quarrel with you here. If you’ve come to question me about this matter, then let me tell you, I have never wrongly accused Luo Jiner. I merely stated that they were drugged, not who did it.”
He Caier stepped forward and said, “It must have been Luo Jiner because she stands to benefit the most.”
“Exactly. She can’t bear children herself, so she wants us to be like her and be unable to have any,” Zhao Jiuer added.
Luo Jiner was already displeased with them, and their words only amplified her anger. “Empty accusations! What evidence do you have that proves I did it?”
“It’s clear that you were behind it; we don’t need evidence!”
“Indeed, it was you today!”
Luo Jiner retorted defiantly, “Without evidence, it is slander. You are wantonly accusing someone and should be locked up in jail for it!”
The three of them started arguing back and forth. Chu Yu’s head throbbed from listening to them. It was one thing to argue at home, but now they were causing a scene in public.
“Enough!”
