Chapter 801: Descent Of The Fated Miracle! Part-1.
Year 2050, October 12.
In a small poor village located near the northwestern part of the Maiquella (Astrum) Continent, a major change that would shift the balance of the world was about to take place.
Located at the outskirts of the village, a small, dilapidated wooden cabin stood under the shade of a large tree.
Usually, no one would bother to even cast a single glance at this humble dwelling, but today was different.
A crowd of dozens of people stood outside the small cabin surrounding it from all sides.
Each person in the crowd was holding a weapon in their hand; some had shovels, some had daggers, and some even had stones clenched tightly in their palms.
Be it young or old, each and every person in the crowd had an angry expression on their face at the moment, and they all looked at the small wooden cabin with hatred and a hint of fear in their eyes.
"Gaius! Come out of your evil nest this instant!!"
"Come out Gaius!! Your child has brought great misfortune to this village! You must provide an explanation to us all or you will have to face the consequences!!"
"Yeah! My mother died because of your unlucky, demonic child!!"
"My nephew got sick because of the unlucky curse of the demonic beast you have created!! Come out Gaius!!"
"Hand over Lillian to us this instant!! Hand over that child to us this instant or don’t blame us for losing our patience!!"
Some shouted, some threw curses, and some slandered; in that moment, the crowd comprised of nearly all the people of the small village was almost on the verge of erupting into a mad frenzy.
Just glancing from inside his house’s window, Gaius could feel his body shiver in fright.
"I-insane... these people have gone insane! They are blaming all of their misfortune on an unborn child!"
"Just because some unlucky incident happened to them in the past few days doesn’t mean that it was because of my child!"
"What does my child being born have to do with their problems!? These people are simply out of there god*mn mind!!"
Looking at this ridiculous situation, Gaius couldn’t help but curse out loudly in horror and panic.
He was just an ordinary carpenter! He hadn’t even been involved in a street fight before in his life!
Now that he was suddenly thrust in this kind of situation where it was impossible for him to keep his wife and unborn child safe, Gaius couldn’t help but feel despair and helplessness from the bottom of his heart!
"Urk..."
Just when Gaius was busy blockading the door and the window with furniture, his wife, who was going through intense pain due to labor, groaned loudly, causing his heart to shatter a bit.
’I should have taken Lillian away from this sh*tty place long ago when I still had the chance! It’s all my fault for being stubborn and believing in the kindness of fellow villagers because of sharing the same hometown!’
Gaius blamed himself every time his pregnant wife groaned from pain, and a part of his heart shattered every time the thought of something happening to her came to his mind!
But the situation was so dire right now that not only could Gaius not bring Lillian to a hospital, he couldn’t even invite a midwife to help in the child delivery process!
The entire village was ready to rush in and slaughter his entire family, including the unborn child, so finding someone for help was nothing but a pipe dream right now!
’I am such a trash! I can’t even keep my child and my wife safe! I deserve being punished horribly for my powerlessness!’
Although his eyes were already bloodshot, Gaius’s hands didn’t stop as he hurriedly blockaded all possible entrances to his small cabin.
The loud shouts of the villagers were starting to get closer, and Gaius could even hear some of them shout that they would burn the house if he didn’t hand over Lillian to them!
’Wha-what do I do now!? What do I do!? I must find a way out of this somehow!’
Talking to the villagers was completely impossible, as he knew that the moment he opened the door, these villagers would likely kill him and rush inside without hesitation.
And even if he didn’t open the door, with so many people gathered outside, it wasn’t difficult for them to break through the flimsy blockade that he had made in desperation.
In fact, the wooden walls of the cabin itself were weak and old due to age, and it wouldn’t be a big problem to break right through them if some able-bodied men worked together.
’No, they don’t even need to break inside; they might directly burn us alive with the house! I have to do something to stop them!’
Just when Gaius was getting more and more desperate, Lillian, who had been barely maintaining her consciousness, suddenly groaned loudly in pain and called for him.
Gaius’s head went blank as he walked over to the bed and held his wife’s palm with a look of concern and desperation on his face.
"D-don’t worry Lillian, e-everything will be fine, I-I will find a way somehow, just wait a little bit, I-I-"
*BAM!!!* *CRACK!!*
Before Gaius could complete his sentence, a loud noise of something crashing into the left wall of the cabin rang out and a smell of burning wood spread inside the cabin.
"Sh*t! Those lunatics threw a Molotov at the cabin!"
Gaius wanted to get up and try to stop the fire by throwing water on the burning wall, hoping that some of it would manage to rush past the gaps in the old wooden logs of the wall and stop the fire.
But before he could even get up, the grip of his wife’s hand tightened, forcing him to remain sitting on the spot.
"G-Gaius... hah... urk... R-remember our... urgh... conversation... i-if it’s a girl, then Luna... otherwise name him-"
*BAM!* *BAM!* *BAM!*
Before Lillian could even finish her sentence, more Molotovs were thrown on the small house, and an intense fire broke out.
The already desperate situation suddenly became even more dangerous, causing Gaius’s eyes to tremble in sheer horror.
