Chapter 60 - The Heroine’s Last Resistance

◇◇◇

[Valtara Fortress – After the Battle]

The air was thick with tension.

Rael lay motionless on the battlefield. His Sacred Griffin was dead. His army was defeated. His pride, shattered beyond repair.

And now—all eyes were on Evelyn.

Leonhardt stepped forward, his golden eyes locked onto the trembling heroine.

"Evelyn."

Her heart skipped a beat.

She took a step back—but Celestia's cold fingers gripped her wrist.

"Oh no, little heroine~" Celestia purred. "You're not going anywhere."

Evelyn swallowed hard.

She turned toward Leonhardt, her breath ragged.

"...W-What do you want from me?"

Leonhardt smirked. "Isn't it obvious?"

His fingers traced her chin—tilting her face up.

"You."

◇◇◇

Evelyn jerked away, her heart racing.

"N-No... I-I still love Rael—!!"

Leonhardt chuckled.

"You're still saying that?"

His eyes flickered toward Rael's broken body.

"Look at him."

Evelyn hesitated.

She glanced back—only to see Rael's lifeless stare.

His hollow eyes. His shaking fingers. His entire body crippled with despair.

He wasn't the hero she once admired.

He wasn't the man she once loved.

He was nothing.

And worst of all—

He wasn't looking at her.

Rael had given up on everything. Even her.

Evelyn's chest tightened.

"N-No... I-I can't..." She clenched her fists. "I-I swore to stand by his side...!!"

Celestia sighed dramatically.

"Ugh, how boring." She cupped Evelyn's cheeks—forcing her to meet Leonhardt's gaze.

"Stop lying to yourself."

Evelyn tensed.

"You want him."

Her breath hitched.

"No—!!"

Celestia's lips curled. "Then why did you let him kiss you?"

Evelyn's face burned.

The memory of Leonhardt's dominating kiss flashed through her mind.

Her fingers brushed against her lips.

She could still feel it.

Still yearn for it.

Her knees weakened.

"N-No... t-that was...!!"

Celestia's laugh sent shivers down her spine.

"It was a 'mistake'?" Celestia leaned closer, her breath warm against Evelyn's ear. "Then why is your heart racing right now?"

Evelyn froze.

Because...

She couldn't deny it.

Leonhardt's touch—his presence—was consuming her.

"W-What have you done to me...?" Evelyn whispered, horrified.

Leonhardt's voice was darkly amused.

"I've done nothing."

He cupped her chin again—this time, more possessively.

"This is all you, Evelyn."

The soldiers of Valtara Fortress watched in anticipation.

Would the Heroine surrender?

Would she finally accept her new master?

Leonhardt stepped back—giving her one final choice.

"Evelyn." His voice was calm, absolute.

"You are now mine."

Evelyn's breath shook.

She turned toward Rael... but he didn't move.

He didn't even look at her.

Tears welled in her eyes.

"...I-I..."

Her fingernails dug into her palms.

Her body—betrayed her mind.

And then—

She lowered her head.

Celestia's eyes gleamed.

Leonhardt smiled.

The Heroine... had finally begun to break.
