Chapter 396: Chapter 205: The Scary Little Sister-in-Law_1

Deep into the night, a request for pink.

***...***

"It’s that annoying Si Lang again." Lian Manman muttered quietly to herself, taking a step to the side.

"Manman, your mother said you shouldn’t come to play on the ice. How come you’re here?" Si Lang stopped in his tracks, addressing Lian Manman, his eyes also glancing at the ice sled Wu Lang was holding.

Liulang slowly skated over, stopping next to Si Lang. He lifted his arm and used his sleeve to wipe his nose, also looking at Wu Lang’s ice sled. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"If you don’t want me to tattle, let me have a turn with the ice sled." Si Lang pointed at the ice sled. He wouldn’t dare to provoke Manman when she was alone, but now, aside from Manman, there was Wu Lang, Xiao Qi, and a tall girl who looked like she could fight. If he hadn’t thought that he had something on Manman, he would just salivate over the ice sled without daring to come close.

Lian Manman rolled her eyes in exasperation. She hadn’t even had a turn yet; why would she lend it to Si Lang?

"My mother knows I’m here; I came with Sister Caiyun," Manman said. "You can tattle if you want. I’m not scared of you. If you have the guts to report on me, then I’ll tell the old aunt about how you said the handkerchief she embroidered was ugly, and even stepped on it. My mother never hits me, but the old aunt will definitely hit you."

Si Lang puffed up, looking very much like a frog with its belly all swollen.

"What’s so great about it, Xiao Liu, let’s go," Si Lang turned around to leave in a huff.

"Si Ge," Wu Lang called out to Si Lang, "you and Xiao Liu want a turn on the ice sled, that’s fine. We all want to play; you two will have to wait in line. We’ll take turns."

Upon hearing he could have a turn on the ice sled, Si Lang immediately turned back around, grinning from ear to ear, though his eyes still held a trace of suspicion.

"Xiao Wu, you’re not just teasing me, are you?" Si Lang said.

"Of course not," Wu Lang replied.

Lian Manman glanced at Wu Lang, wondering to herself, "Why even bother with that annoying Si Lang?"

Wu Lang flashed a smile at Lian Manman.

"Let him have a turn. It’ll save him from going home and tattling to his mother," Wu Lang whispered to Manman.

Manman snorted as she looked at Si Lang. His emotions were more mature than his peers, and ever since he started learning to write and study, this had become even more apparent. On the contrary, she found herself more and more in sync with her young body. Especially when it came to kids her age or those not much different, and, well, she just liked, and was used to, bashing Si Lang.

Well, if Si Lang was so annoying, Manman felt perfectly justified.

But she figured she’d let Wu Lang handle it this time; she wasn’t that petty.

Wu Lang placed the ice sled on the ice and handed two supporting sticks to Zhang Caiyun.

"Let Caiyun have the first turn," Wu Lang said.

Zhang Caiyun insisted that Manman go first.

"Sister Caiyun, you go ahead," Manman said. As their guest, of course, Caiyun should have the first turn.

Zhang Caiyun, ever generous, didn’t overdo the pleasantries and sat cross-legged on the sled. Wu Lang, Manman, and Xiao Qi pushed her from behind, and with a push from her hands on the support sticks against the ice, the sled shot forward, carrying her far away in an instant.

The other children ice sliding nearby all moved aside, cheering her on.

Si Lang and Liulang made a lot of noise clearing the way in front of Caiyun, while Manman, Wu Lang, and Xiao Qi slid behind her, occasionally giving her sled a push to pick up some speed.

After a few exhilarating laps on the long stretch of ice, even though Caiyun was having a great time, she still let Manman take a turn.

Manman also sat cross-legged on the ice sled, imitating Caiyun.

"Manman, hold on tight," Wu Lang shouted, then gave her a hefty push from behind.

Manman shot forward almost without needing the supporting sticks. The scenery and people on the sides zoomed backward, the wind whooshed by her ears, and Manman couldn’t help but laugh out loud, overcome with joy.

Then it was Xiao Qi’s turn, followed by Si Lang and Liulang, with Wu Lang taking the last turn. Perhaps because the sled was so much fun, Si Lang didn’t cause any trouble.

The children took turns on the sled, and those who weren’t riding it followed behind to give it a push. When Wu Lang had his turn, he didn’t need any pushing at all—he was able to glide swiftly just sitting on the sled. Xiao Qi got tired but refused to go ashore to rest; she clung to Manman and Caiyun like a little tail, grabbing the back of their coats and letting them carry her along on the ice.

As they played, time flew, until Lian Zhizhi came looking for them.
