Chapter 914: Chapter 915: A Joyful Homecoming Banquet
Chu Xiaolan glanced at the grandpa standing not far away: "Have you all forgotten what Grandpa said so quickly?"
Chu Xiaojue snorted coldly: "Don’t forget, we have split the family."
Chu Xiaolan was quite upset with her: "Stop daydreaming."
With a professional chef at the helm, the aroma of the dishes quickly filled the garden.
The Wei Family members politely set the table, and the dishes were soon ready for serving.
Once everyone was seated, Yunyi raised her glass and addressed the neighbors in the alley: "Thank you all for your care for me and Grandpa in the past. Now that he has passed, you are my family now. This courtyard holds many beautiful memories for me and Grandpa. I will often come back for short stays and visit everyone."
Father Wei was the first to respond: "Don’t worry, we neighbors will definitely help look after this courtyard."
Everyone felt that Yunyi, even after finding her biological parents, remembered her roots and was a conscientious and good child.
Only Grandpa Chu-second’s family felt frustrated. What was that supposed to mean? They, the ones with the surname Chu, were still around, so how did these neighbors become family? What were they supposed to be then?
However, they also knew to restrain themselves and wouldn’t fall out with Yunyi.
But Yunyi intentionally said those words to make a point to Grandpa Chu-second’s side of the family: she recognized the Chu Family but didn’t include their branch, and if it weren’t for Old Master Chu, she wouldn’t help them.
Initially, she thought about taking better care of them as a way to repay the Chu Family for their kindness to the original owner. However, Chu Xinming’s family’s private interests were too strong, so she gave up on that idea.
The return banquet was pleasant for both host and guests.
After satisfying their appetites and exchanging pleasantries, the neighbors each went their separate ways.
