Chapter 24: Chapter 24: A Chance to Start Over
"Old geezer, don’t you have any manners? Can you let someone finish speaking?"
A domineering and resonant voice echoed at the entrance.
Everyone’s attention was drawn to this sudden voice, only to find the person wearing an oversized hoodie with an enormous hood that completely obscured his head. He casually waved his hand, "Shoo, shoo, why are you all looking at me? Just because I’m so handsome, doesn’t mean you can just stare as you please."
The crowd, utterly baffled: "..."
People treated it as a minor episode and did not pay much attention.
Bai Haoxue glanced at that person, her calm eyes showing slight ripples.
She then continued speaking to the audience below, "I have not returned for the position of Cheng Group’s president but for an opportunity."
Bai Haoxue again bowed ninety degrees to the shareholders seated at the meeting table, "Please give me a chance, let me start from a position where I can contribute, let me begin anew at a place where I rightly belong!"
"Please give me an opportunity to start afresh as an employee of Cheng Group." Bai Haoxue bowed once more.
The instant Bai Haoxue finished speaking, the entire place fell silent; people looked at one another, then at Bai Haoxue, but with expressions of looking at a lunatic or fool.
Is Bai Haoxue out of her mind?
Giving up a perfectly good leader position in the group to foolishly become an employee; she’s either a fool or a lunatic.
Even Shen Nancheng beside her and the female reporter wearing a baseball cap among the crowd couldn’t believe it.
What on earth is Bai Haoxue up to? Why isn’t she following the script?
At this moment, in a luxurious room, a man watched the girl on the screen, with a faint smile at the corner of his lips, half indulgent, half gratified. After a long while, he lightly said, "All grown up!"
"Bai Haoxue, what exactly are you up to?" Compared to everyone’s disbelief, Bai Xiongan’s suspicions were even stronger.
Bai Haoxue smiled faintly, "Uncle, don’t judge others by your own standards; not everyone is like you."
At this point, an old shareholder stood up and said, "Since both candidate presidents have expressed their thoughts, let’s proceed with the process. Everyone, please vote, and whoever receives more support is the one."
The old shareholder walked up to Bai Haoxue, "I built this empire alongside your grandfather. I don’t know you well, and you don’t know me well, either. I have no idea of your capabilities, but today you showed me your courage, confidence, and determination. So, I am willing to give you a chance."
"Thank you!"
Bai Haoxue bowed deeply to the old shareholder.
On Bai Xiongan’s side, the director chaired by Chairman Zhang was the first to approach Bai Xiongan and enthusiastically rallied votes for him.
Soon, the shareholders divided into two groups, one supporting Bai Haoxue, the other supporting Bai Xiongan.
There were the same number of them, twenty each.
Bai Haoxue smiled elegantly and humbly, while Bai Xiongan was somewhat frantic and frustrated.
Those old fogies dared to betray him! In Bai Xiongan’s expectations, no shareholder would support Bai Haoxue.
With less than ten shareholders left at the meeting table, Bai Xiongan appeared calm, but inside he was in turmoil, his anger raging.
"Spectacular, spectacular, truly spectacular..."
