Xuexue awoke drowsily, slowly opening her eyes, and what came into view was a pale yellow canopy, with layers of tassels gently swaying above her head.
Xuexue shifted uncomfortably, only to find the bed beneath her was cold and hard. Even though the luxurious Yunluo Silk, as gentle as rippling water, was spread beneath her, it was incredibly thin. A periodic scent of sandalwood wafted through the air, tranquil and pleasant.
Beside the bed was a window, intricately carved and made of rare wood. Outside was a picturesque scene with rock gardens, small ponds, green lotuses, and pink water lilies. Occasionally, small maidservants passed by, their footsteps and conversation were barely audible.
For a moment, Xuexue was confused, thinking she was in the War Prince’s Mansion, but a closer look at the room’s decor suggested otherwise.
"Oh, where is this place?"
Xuexue reached up to her forehead, recalling the man who descended from the sky, quickly sitting up and shouting, "Zi Xia, Zi Xia."
"Wonderful, the master is finally awake," came Xiao Taohong’s surprised voice from above.
"Master, you’re awake?" Little Tiger suddenly appeared from somewhere and squatted by the bed, asking.
"Where is this place?" Xuexue glanced around, confirming that this room was unfamiliar: "Where is Zi Xia?"
Xiao Taohong floated down from mid-air, saying, "Master, this is Fengcheng City, a thousand miles away from the Capital. Zi Xia didn’t come with us."
Upon hearing this, Xuexue was startled. How long had she been unconscious? How did she wake up a thousand miles away?
Little Tiger: "Master, you’ve been unconscious for three days and nights. We couldn’t wake you, so we had no choice but to follow and protect you secretly."
Xuexue furrowed her brows: "Who brought me here? Was it that man?"
Little Tiger nodded and said, "Yes! Master, do you know who that man is?"
Xuexue shook her head; she was knocked out as soon as they met and knew nothing.
Little Tiger: "He’s from Wei Country, and it’s said he’s here for Lin Kong."
Xiao Taohong nodded repeatedly on the side, saying, "Yes! We’ve found out over the past few days, Lin Kong is actually a spy from the neighboring country. His true identity is the State Preceptor of Wei Country. He’s here in Moli Country with a sinister plot. Hearing this, Xuexue was shocked. Lin Kong was the Master of Celestial Master Zhang and the Fourth Prince. She never dreamt he had another identity, being the State Preceptor of Wei Country.
"I have to get back and tell the Prince immediately." Xuexue tried to stand from the bed, but suddenly her legs gave way, and she collapsed to the ground: "Ah! My legs."
Little Tiger: "What happened to your legs?"
