Chapter 1522: Chapter 1522: Satisfied Smiles
Sunx Han was stunned. He picked up on something in Ji Ruxiao’s words. In his view, Ji Ruxiao’s words sounded polite on the surface, but there was a vague sense of staking a claim over him.
Out of courtesy, Sunx Han didn’t show anything out of the ordinary, just smiled and nodded. "No problem, then I won’t stand on ceremony. For example, Sister Xiao—if you have time, can we all grab a meal together?"
Ji Ruxiao lifted her left hand slightly and glanced at her watch. After thinking for a moment, she nodded in agreement. "Nothing much today. Glory’s right here. High noon’s a good time to bump into the sun. As for the cooperation project Mr. Hu and Xiao Han mentioned to you, I also skimmed it last night. There are some parts I don’t quite get. Let’s go to my office and talk it over!"
"Perfect!" Ji Ruxiao’s idea was exactly what Sunx Han had in mind. Sunx Han nodded happily, then turned to look at Jiang Guangrong. "You coming in with us?"
Jiang Guangrong shrugged. "I’m not going. I’ll wander around while you talk business. Call me when you’re done!"
"Alright!" Both Ji Ruxiao and Sunx Han were very driven people. They walked into Ji Ruxiao’s office.
After the two left, Tian Juruo smiled meaningfully. "Good thing I resigned. Now there’s another Ji Ru to deal with! Things just keep getting more and more complicated!"
Jiang Guangrong gaped at Tian Jue. "Come on, Sister Jue, why are you getting more and more gossipy lately? A few days ago I just happened to run into Sister Ru in the capital city..."
"Oh yeah?" Tian Jue’s grin grew even wider. "Please, I’m a woman. I can tell at a glance. I just heard her say you ditched her in the capital? Hero again, huh?"
"I..." Jiang Guangrong couldn’t help rolling his eyes and gave up on trying to explain to Tian Jue. In his view, stuff like this only sounded darker and darker the more you explained. Still, what Tian Jue said made him even more certain of his own guess. Ji Ruxiao was way too enthusiastic toward him. That excessive warmth, Ji Suifeng had felt it too. Jiang Guangrong was even more puzzled about what Ji was really after.
However, Jiang Guangrong soon stopped dwelling on it. Let Li Mubai overthink this sort of thing. He himself couldn’t figure it out alone anyway. Just then, Jiang Guangrong suddenly looked at Tian Jue with a different expression.
Tian Jue glared at Jiang Guangrong in annoyance. "Hey, why are you looking at me with that filthy gaze? I’m warning you, your sister is a taken woman now! My boyfriend is ten thousand times more handsome than you!"
"Sister Jue, what am I even thinking!"
"Thinking what?"
"I’m just wondering, when you and Junkai have kids, are you still gonna be this nosy about other people’s business?"
"Get lost!"
Sunx Han and Ji Ruxiao talked in the office for several hours. When they left Xia Country Damin Bank, both had satisfied smiles on their faces. Seeing their expressions, Jiang Guangrong knew they’d had a very pleasant cooperation today. It could be inferred they’d already reached some agreements on cooperation in various fields.
These days, Jiang Guangrong’s manners were extremely gentlemanly. Today, Tian Jue wasn’t allowed to drive. Jiang Guangrong sat in the driver’s seat, Tian Jue in the front passenger seat, and Sunx Han and Ji Ruxiao in the back. Even in the car they kept talking nonstop. Even Jiang Guangrong, who’d studied economics in the suicide squad, had no idea what they were on about.
"Madam, what would you like to eat?" Jiang Guangrong asked politely in a low voice.
Ji Ru thought for a moment with a smile. "This is my first time in Xiangcheng. Take me for some good, down‑to‑earth Hunan food!"
"Got it!" Jiang Guangrong stepped on the gas, and the car shot off like a gust of wind.
When the four of them arrived at a very famous restaurant a few kilometers away, Jiang Guangrong glanced at Ji Ruxiao and Sunx Han, who were still chatting away, and wondered whether they could really get along this well. Two highly career‑driven women together were honestly a little scary.
The four of them chose a private room and sat down. Ji Ruxiao casually ordered a few basic dishes.
Ji Ruxiao raised her chin proudly and said to Jiang Guangrong, "Guangrong, don’t look down on me. Even though I grew up in the capital, I can handle spicy food."
"That’s great, like Sister Xiao here. Give it a try, see how it is?"
"It’s great!"
Just as Ji Ruxiao picked up her chopsticks to taste the food, a man’s voice suddenly came from outside the room: "Fuck your mother’s bullshit. Since when am I some hero saving beauties? Since I was born—don’t even mention beauties—I haven’t even seen a decent girl!"
Hearing the crude words from the man outside, Ji Ruxiao couldn’t help furrowing her brows, a hint of displeasure flashing across her face.
Jiang Guangrong couldn’t help laughing. "Don’t mind it, Ru. The local folkways in Xiangcheng are even rougher than that. Ignore him, let’s eat..."
"Bang."
Before Jiang Guangrong could finish, the door of the private room was kicked open by someone. The guy had a Cuntou and was very tall, a bottle of baijiu in his hand. He was clearly drunk out of his mind; his steps were extremely unsteady.
Behind Cuntou, a bespectacled man hurried forward to support him, smiling apologetically at the four of them. "Sorry, you four, my buddy had too much to drink, really sorry! Old Xue, you’re drunk. You’ve got the wrong room! Ours is right next door!"
Cuntou lifted his head and glanced at the room number on the door. "Yo, did I go to the wrong place..."
"Let’s go! Sorry, you four, please go on." The guy with glasses once again gave the four of them an apologetic smile. Under the puzzled gazes of the four, he grabbed Cuntou’s right arm and led him out.
"Hold up a sec!" Cuntou, who was staggering toward the door, suddenly stopped.
"Old Xue, what are you doing? Don’t cause trouble out here! Our table’s next door!" Anxiety flashed across the bespectacled man’s face.
Cuntou shook off the man with glasses and staggered back to the four‑person table. He dragged out a chair and sat down, then looked at Sunx Han and Ji Ru with a filthy grin. "You know, I want to take back what I just said. Who said there are no beauties? Isn’t this? Three beauties all at once. What’s this called, huh?"
Jiang Guangrong quietly grabbed Tian Jue, who was about to stand up, and smiled at the man with glasses. "Buddy, your bro really has had a bit too much!"
The man with glasses gave them a wry smile and hurried to pull Cuntou away. "Sorry, sorry, I really am sorry. Don’t bother arguing with a drunk! Old Xue, you’re wasted. Hurry up and go back."
The drunken Cuntou let himself be dragged back toward the door by the bespectacled man without much resistance. Just as he was about to be led out, he suddenly panicked. He used all his strength to shake off the man with glasses and muttered, "What are you doing! Those three ladies—at first glance, nothing serious about them. Three ladies keeping one guy company. What’s so good about that? What’s wrong with me? You mind your own business!"
The man with glasses was practically scared out of his wits. He quickly clamped a hand over Cuntou’s mouth and desperately wrapped his arms around his shoulders, forcing him toward the door.
"Wait." The expression on Jiang Guangrong’s face suddenly went cold, his features darkening.
The man with glasses muttered a curse under his breath, then turned back toward Jiang Guangrong with a smile. "This friend..."
"Who the hell is your friend! Get lost. Young man, what, you think you can mess with me with that posture? You know who the hell I am?" Cuntou spat a string of curses, shoved the man with glasses aside, and swaggered back into the room.
Jiang Guangrong sneered. "Oh? Look at you, so damned full of yourself. I don’t care who you are. Don’t say I didn’t give you a chance—apologize now, walk out that door, and this is over!" "Buddy, aren’t you going a bit too far?" The man with glasses also came in, his apologetic smile completely gone. "My little brother just got drunk. Why are you making a scene over a drunk?"
Jiang Guangrong slowly stood up and walked toward the man with glasses and Cuntou. "So by your logic, as long as you drink, you can point at someone’s nose and cuss them out?"
