Then she took out a wet towel to wipe Little Reunion’s hands, and only then did she give him the bun to eat. As Little Reunion ate the small bun, his eyes became even brighter. That little look as if he was tasting the world’s delicacies made Jiang Xue unable to resist pinching his chubby, round face again.
Watching her son eat happily, Jiang Xue also pinched one and popped it into her mouth. The taste was really good. The meat inside was extremely delicious, truly worthy of being made by a century-old shop; it was just too tasty.
Seeing his mother was about to compete with him for the food, Little Reunion immediately sped up his pace, taking large bites of the bun.
This made Jiang Xue laugh very much, and she gently pinched his nose, saying, "Eat slowly, no one is fighting with you for it."
Little Reunion glanced at Jiang Xue and saw that she really wasn’t eating anymore, so he slowed down his pace.
Nangong Chen had brought plenty of buns, more than enough for the mother and son to eat. Because her son liked them, Jiang Xue didn’t reach for more but instead turned to the kitchen to see if the porridge she was cooking was ready.
When she returned to the living room from the kitchen, she discovered that Little Reunion had already eaten almost half. This scared her quite a bit, knowing Little Reunion was still young, and the buns Nangong Chen brought were enough for two adults. Little Reunion eating all that, it’s no wonder he’d be full.
When she saw Little Reunion reaching for more, she immediately grabbed the bun and said to him, "Son, you’ve eaten too much. Let Mom save this for next time, okay?"
Little Reunion looked at Jiang Xue, then reached out to touch his now round belly, and nodded gently. Actually, he knew he had eaten too much.
But the buns were so delicious, he simply couldn’t stop.
Jiang Xue took the buns back to the kitchen and put them in the fridge, planning to heat them up for Little Reunion at lunch or dinner.
Little Reunion was indeed full; his stomach felt uncomfortable, and he stopped playing with his toys, just crawling around on the floor.
Jiang Xue watched him and didn’t intervene but instead scooped out the porridge, preparing to eat breakfast herself. As she was eating, the doorbell rang again.
She had to put down her bowl and went to open the door. Because of Nangong Chen’s earlier reminder, she particularly checked the peephole before opening the door and only opened it when she saw it was Housekeeper Lin.
Housekeeper Lin had been waiting outside for a while, and upon seeing Jiang Xue open the door, he smiled and said, "Good morning, madam. I thought you took the child out to play."
"Not yet, we’re still having breakfast. Have you eaten, Housekeeper Lin? Would you like some?"
"No need, madam. The old master asked me to see if there’s anything you need help with or anything to buy; I can get it for you."
"Grandfather is so considerate, but there’s no need. I just finished shopping at the supermarket yesterday and got everything I needed."
Hearing Jiang Xue say this, Housekeeper Lin didn’t insist but placed the fruit he brought on the coffee table, saying, "The old master asked me to bring these; they were a gift. The old master noticed you don’t buy much fruit, so he sent these over."
"Grandfather is really too thoughtful." Jiang Xue invited Housekeeper Lin to sit, but he declined, saying, "Madam, since there’s nothing you need here, I’ll be off. The old master is going out later, and I have to accompany him."
"Alright then, I won’t keep you."
Jiang Xue saw Housekeeper Lin off and then went back to finish her breakfast. After breakfast, as usual, she played with Little Reunion while waiting for Lu Jintian to arrive.
