Chapter 434 -434: Summon Zi Lan Back to the Heavenly Court (Third Update!)
“Queen Mother, what exactly is going on with Zi Lan? You must explain it to me clearly!”
The Jade Emperor strode angrily into the Queen Mother’s bedchamber, fiercely questioning her as she sat cross-legged in meditation.
“Explain it clearly? Explain what?”
The Queen Mother opened her eyes, a sharp glint flashing within them as she slightly furrowed her brows, “Your Majesty, this is the Jade Pool, not the Lingxia Palace! I do not interfere with the affairs of your Lingxia Palace, nor should you meddle in the internal matters of my Jade Pond Water Pavilion. Wasn’t that our initial agreement? Has Your Majesty forgotten?”
“Queen Mother, you…”
...
The Jade Emperor glared at the Queen Mother with rage, and she coldly glared back, showing no weakness. After a stalemate, it was the Jade Emperor who gave in, “Queen Mother, it’s not that I wish to meddle in the affairs of the Jade Pool, but Zi Lan has gone too far! Do you realize that she used the void-breaking hairpin you bestowed upon her to break the Swastika Buddha Seal of Tathagata Buddha, aiding the demons of Flower-Fruit Mountain? As the Lord of the Heavenly Court, I absolutely cannot condone such actions that violate the heavenly rules!”
“Your Majesty, I have advised you countless times. If you had been more magnanimous toward Wukong and acted with the dignity of the Lord of the Heavenly Court, perhaps you would have listened. But you were hell-bent on crushing Wukong. Do you now regret your past choices?”
The Queen Mother’s face carried a faint hint of mockery, and the Jade Emperor’s face turned dark, “Queen Mother, what do you mean by that? That Demon Monkey Sun Wukong caused chaos in the Heavenly Court and even destroyed the Heavenly Secrets Instrument. Should I still treat him with kindness? Don’t forget, you are the Queen Mother of this Heavenly Court, not of Flower-Fruit Mountain!”
The Queen Mother’s face grew angry as she glared at the Jade Emperor, who also refused to back down, glaring back. After a long pause, the Queen Mother let out a heavy sigh, “What exactly are you planning, Your Majesty? Speak plainly. There’s no need to beat around the bush.”
“Fine! Then I will speak plainly! Summon Zi Lan back to the Heavenly Court!”
The Jade Emperor said sternly, and seeing the Queen Mother raise an eyebrow, he immediately promised, “I can assure you that she will not be mistreated, but she must return to the Heavenly Court!”
“Your Majesty, you couldn’t possibly be thinking of…”
The Queen Mother’s brows furrowed slightly, as she already had an inkling of the Jade Emperor’s intentions.
“That’s right! I plan to lure that Demon Monkey to the Heavenly Court!”
The Jade Emperor admitted without any attempt to hide his intentions, “Isn’t there true love between Sun Wukong and Zi Lan? I would like to see if he would still come to the Heavenly Court knowing it’s a trap. If he doesn’t, it would be perfect to let Zi Lan give up on him, so she can dutifully serve as the Zi Lan Fairy in the Heavenly Court!”
“And what if he does come?”
“If he comes? Then it’s perfect, I will settle all our old debts with him!”
The Jade Emperor sneered, “If he doesn’t come, so be it. But if he dares to come, then I will ensure he comes with no possibility of return!”
Western Heaven Spiritual Mountain, Sukhavati Realm.
“Amitabha, you gave your Buddha Spirit Path Trace to that Sun Wukong, did you not?”
Standing atop the cliff of the Sukhavati Realm, Tathagata Buddha’s face was overcast with gloom as he gazed upon Amitabha Buddha, who was shackled within the void by massive Stellar Aura Chains. His eyes flashed with cold fury as he suppressed his anger to question him.
“Sun Wukong? The little monkey from the Monkey Tribe? Yes, I did pass on the Buddha Spirit Path Trace to him! How did you find out?”
Amitabha Buddha opened his eyes and glanced at Tathagata Buddha from afar, his gaze suddenly focusing on Tathagata Buddha’s left arm, whose Buddha Primordial Force was incomparably weaker than that in the rest of his body, and with hardly any Great Dao Runes condensed within—it was clearly a newly regrown limb!
“Tathagata, look at you, with your left arm gone. It couldn’t have been that little monkey, could it?”
Amitabha Buddha’s eyes suddenly brightened, and a schadenfreude grin spread across his distorted face tormented by the Stellar Aura Chains. Seeing Tathagata Buddha’s expression turning increasingly ugly, he couldn’t help but burst into laughter, “Hahaha, it seems it really was Sun Wukong who did it! That kid is truly formidable! It seems my choice back then was indeed the right one, hahaha!”
Amitabha Buddha had not passed the Buddha Spirit Path Trace to Sun Wukong because he had a particularly high regard for him; there simply had been no other choice. Ever since he was outmaneuvered by Tathagata Buddha and imprisoned in the Sukhavati Realm, sealed by the Stellar Aura Chains, Sun Wukong was the only one who had sent his Divine Sense into the Sukhavati Realm.
It was a desperate measure from Amitabha Buddha who, detecting the deep-seated hatred Sun Wukong harbored toward Tathagata Buddha in his tone of speech, decided to take a gamble and pass on the Buddha Spirit Path Trace to Sun Wukong. He had never expected that Sun Wukong would one day truly pose a threat to Tathagata Buddha!
Now, it seemed he had indeed chosen the right person to inherit the Buddha Spirit Path Trace!
“You old bastard! Do you really think I dare not kill you?”
Tathagata Buddha could no longer restrain himself, and a ferocious roar erupted from him. All decorum and dignity were cast aside as an unstoppable killing intent spread from his being.
The notions of Buddhist compassion and the vow to save sentient beings were but deceptions for the followers; immortals and Buddhas, too, were once mortals who achieved their status through cultivation, inheriting all the emotions that come with it. These emotions were merely buried deep down and not visible on the surface. Tathagata Buddha typically appeared serene and dignified, but that was only because nothing had thus far disturbed his composure. Now, faced with the current situation, Tathagata Buddha could no longer suppress the rage in his heart!
Greed, anger, and delusion—the Three Poisons—are not so easily relinquished!
Feeling the murderous intent emanating from Tathagata Buddha, Amitabha Buddha showed not the slightest trace of panic. Having been trapped for so many years, he had long ago come to terms with life and death. Had he not been utterly incapable of taking his own life under the seal of the Stellar Aura Chains, he might have ended it all by his own hand.
“Tathagata, I have long seen through life and death. Your threats of death are futile against me!”
Amitabha Buddha said with an indifferent tone, dismissing the threat with a light snort.

“This old bastard!”
Filled with murderous intent, Tathagata Buddha watched as Amitabha Buddha treated death as a release, and his fiery wrath cooled suddenly, as if doused by a bucket of ice water. Clenching his fists tightly, he grit his teeth and said, “Old fool, just wait. I will definitely retrieve that Buddha Spirit Path Trace from within the demon monkey. When I do, all of your origin power will be mine!”
With a heavy snort of anger, Tathagata Buddha turned and flew away from the Sukhavati Realm, leaving only the sound of Amitabha Buddha’s delighted laughter echoing long in the Sukhavati Realm…
