Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Getting Rid of the "Fly

It wasn’t until he later saw the watch given to Qi Fei on her social media feed that he realized things weren’t so simple.

Wu Yun first pulled out the inner seat for Qi Fei. After she was seated, he sat down himself and said, "I’m just a freshman in college, but I’ve recently started a few small companies. I heard from Qi Fei that Brother Wang trades Bitcoin? I wonder, are the returns any good?"

Wu Yun had intentionally brought up Bitcoin, touching on a subject Wang Xingyu was proud of. "Haha, it’s just a small-time operation," Wang Xingyu boasted. "Just four of us, we each put in two million. We only got in this April, and as of today, we’ve seen about a six hundred percent return."

As he said this, a proud smile couldn’t help but creep onto Wang Xingyu’s lips.

Wu Yun looked at Wang Xingyu with some surprise. He hadn’t expected their little team to be skilled enough to actually make money trading in the volatile Bitcoin market.

If he hadn’t spent money to buy a chart of Bitcoin’s historical price trends, he wouldn’t have dared to directly invest seventy million into it.

But the thought of being glued to a computer, tracking Bitcoin prices constantly, made him feel like he’d have a breakdown. However, watching Wang Xingyu’s group trade gave him an idea. He could use an automated Bitcoin trading system to set buy and sell times. That way, he wouldn’t have to worry about actively trading and could still make a huge profit in a short time.

’This plan will have to wait until after next month’s rebate, though,’ he thought. ’Then I’ll set aside some funds to buy more Bitcoin. I remember it’s supposed to hit rock bottom next January, which will be the perfect time to buy.’

As for the Bitcoin he had already purchased, he didn’t plan on touching it. For one, he had bought them at five hundred US Dollars a coin. To make a real profit, he’d have to wait until 2016. It was better to just leave it as a long-term reserve fund.

Qi Fei, having finished ordering, heard Wang Xingyu’s smug words and couldn’t help but scoff.

Wang Xingyu heard her and said, annoyed, "Feifei, what are you laughing at? Isn’t making this much money impressive? My profit margin is higher than most companies! I’m doing way better than all those students still living on their parents’ dime!"

Wang Xingyu’s words instantly angered Qi Fei. "I told you not to call me Feifei! Use my full name! And yeah, you’re right, I can’t compare to you! I wonder, Wang Xingyu, were you still using your parents’ money when you were in college?"

Wang Xingyu realized his mistake. He had made a sweeping statement that offended a lot of people, including Qi Fei. He forced an apologetic smile. "Qi Fei, that’s not what I meant. I was just saying that what I’ve accomplished is pretty good!"

Qi Fei knew that the profit margin Wang Xingyu mentioned was indeed high enough to surpass ninety-nine percent of people. But with the brilliant example of Wu Yun right there, Wang Xingyu’s achievement suddenly seemed like child’s play.

As the saying goes, "it’s easier to anger a king than a woman." Offending a man is one thing, but offending a woman is a whole other beast. A woman’s memory for grudges is like a memory card installed in her brain; tick her off, and she can pull up every old grievance and recite them one by one.

Qi Fei covered her mouth and chuckled. "You’re right, it’s very capable. Better than most! But I still think my Wu Yun is even better. I don’t know, have you heard of the Little Red Car? That’s a product from Wuyun Company."

Wu Yun was a little surprised to hear Qi Fei’s words; he hadn’t expected her to have such a prickly side. After their brief interaction, however, Wu Yun felt that Wang Xingyu wasn’t the useless, spoiled rich kid he had imagined. On the contrary, he seemed like a man with goals and ideas. If it weren’t for the many secrets Wu Yun had to keep, he might have even considered getting to know Wang Xingyu’s team.

Wu Yun wrapped an arm around Qi Fei’s waist and cut in with a smile. "Hey now, be modest. The Little Red Car hasn’t even turned a profit yet, we haven’t even recouped our costs! It really can’t compare to the six hundred percent return Brother Wang’s team made. If my own funds weren’t tied up elsewhere, I’d be tempted to invest some money and let Brother Wang’s team trade with it!"

Wang Xingyu was stunned. He looked at Wu Yun with pure admiration. As someone on the periphery of the financial world, he knew all about the massive three-billion-dollar procurement contract between Nirvana Technology’s Little Red Car and Modu Phoenix Bicycle. At the time, he had been shocked, wondering how this obscure company had so much money. The value of that contract was higher than his own father’s net worth.

The subsequent online buzz and the fact that the small batch of bikes deployed in Modu were in incredibly high demand only increased his admiration for the founder of Little Red Car. He was certain that in the near future, when Little Red Cars were all over the city, the company’s valuation would skyrocket.

Just then, the waiters began bringing out the dishes they had ordered.

Seeing that the main purpose of the dinner had basically been achieved, Wu Yun lightened the mood with a smile. "Brother Wang, let’s eat. We can talk while we eat."

Wang Xingyu picked up his chopsticks, put some food in his bowl, and said in an excited tone, "I can’t believe Qi Fei’s boyfriend is the very same successful entrepreneur we’ve been talking about!"

At the same time, Wang Xingyu sighed to himself. ’There’s just no comparison! All I can do is wish them both the best. But this is a chance to build a good relationship with Wu Yun. If I make it big, maybe we’ll have a chance to work together in the future.’

With that thought, Wang Xingyu raised his teacup. "To be honest, I came today to see what kind of man Qi Fei’s boyfriend was, to help Uncle Qi vet him. Looks like tonight I can go back and give my report!"

"I’ll use this tea as wine and toast you both. And hey, don’t forget to invite me to the wedding!"

Wang Xingyu’s words made Qi Fei’s face light up. She leaned against Wu Yun’s shoulder and raised her teacup with her left hand. At the same time, Wu Yun also raised his glass.

"Cheers!"

Wang Xingyu put down his cup and smiled. "Brother Wu Yun, if you ever have any spare capital in the future and you’re interested in Bitcoin, you can entrust it to our team. We’ll handle the trading for you, and I can guarantee our fees will be lower than the market rate."

As for not charging a fee at all, even if Wang Xingyu himself agreed, the rest of his team wouldn’t. Work for free? They weren’t idiots.

Wu Yun nodded. "Sounds good. If I ever need it, Brother Wang, I’ll be sure to trouble you. I have a friend who also bought some Bitcoin, though he got in at five hundred US Dollars a coin. He’s very bullish on its future and plans to hold it long-term. Since he’s not a professional, he can’t do short-term trading like you guys. I’ll introduce you when I get the chance; maybe you could teach him a thing or two."

"Of course, no problem!"

With both parties having achieved their goals, the rest of the conversation became increasingly friendly. Wu Yun and Wang Xingyu even added each other as contacts and exchanged numbers.

After dinner, Wang Xingyu stood up to say goodbye to the couple.

Wu Yun keenly noticed that at a nearby table, three other people also stood up and walked out, meeting up with Wang Xingyu at the entrance.

"Qi Fei, I don’t think Wang Xingyu will be bothering you anymore," Wu Yun said, feeling quite pleased. Any normal guy would want to put someone in their place for harassing his girlfriend. But thanks to Qi Fei’s assist, Wu Yun had achieved his goal without even having to make a move.
