Chapter 649: Chapter 647: Farewell

Two days later, Wan Chuchu got up in the morning and went for a jog in the neighborhood, and saw Mr. Liu supporting Mrs. Liu out of their house.

At first glance, Wan Chuchu was startled. It had only been a few days, and Mrs. Liu seemed like a completely different person, very thin and pale. Did this matter impact her so much?!

The Liu family’s maid was sorrowfully moving things into the car. Once everything was loaded, she tearfully said her goodbyes and gave her instructions to Mrs. Liu, reluctant to part.

Wan Chuchu slowed her pace and stopped at the entrance of the Liu family home.

When Mr. and Mrs. Liu saw her, they only nodded, not saying anything.

Wan Chuchu took the initiative to ask, "Are you leaving?"

Mrs. Liu gave a weak smile, trying to maintain her graceful demeanor, and said, "Yes, with this farewell, we probably won’t meet again in this lifetime. I wish you happiness."

Mr. Liu seemed to sweep away the downcast and depressed manner of a few days ago, his expression now carried the haughty demeanor unique to artists, and he merely lifted his chin slightly at Wan Chuchu.

Wan Chuchu didn’t know what to say for a moment. She would not help them meet Ming Wan, and since they were about to leave, there wouldn’t be time or opportunity to ask her to see Ming Wan. Anything more felt hypocritical and unnecessary.

Mrs. Liu was a good person. She bore no resentment or displeasure for her lack of assistance and still wished her happiness before leaving, which brought a pang of guilt to Wan Chuchu’s heart.

"I’m sorry," Wan Chuchu murmured.

Mrs. Liu heard this, smiled faintly, and shook her head, "You’ve already helped me a lot, thank you."

"The wind outside is strong, get in the car," Mr. Liu urged his wife to get in the car after seeing all the things loaded.

Mrs. Liu nodded slightly to Wan Chuchu again and bent down to sit in the backseat of the car.

Watching her frail yet still elegant figure, Wan Chuchu felt a bit stifled. A thought flashed through her mind, and she suddenly said, "Please wait." Then, without waiting for the Liu couple’s reaction, she quickly ran back home.

Like a gust of wind, Wan Chuchu ran into the house, directly heading to the study on the second floor. The maid watching from downstairs looked puzzled. Soon, Wan Chuchu came rushing back down and out again like a whirlwind.

Wan Chuchu ran to Mrs. Liu’s car and handed her a photo through the window.

"This is a photo of Ming Wan and her fiancé. I happened to have an extra one here, so I’ll give it to you."

Upon hearing this, Mrs. Liu’s eyes immediately turned red. She incredulously reached out to take the photo from Wan Chuchu and gently caressed the happy, golden couple with trembling fingers.

"Is she getting married? Do they love each other?" Mrs. Liu asked with concern after a while.

It seemed she truly cared for Ming Wan, not questioning who Yan Hui was or what he did, just asking if the two were in love. That’s the kind of question one who genuinely cares for Ming Wan would ask.

Wan Chuchu nodded, "They’ve known each other for a long time. I’ve heard that Ming Wan had a secret crush on him before, and the groom intended to stay single."

So it was mutual, one of those destined lovers who finally became a couple. With tears and a smile, Mrs. Liu nodded and sincerely said to Wan Chuchu, "Thank you, now I have no regrets."

Still unwilling to reveal her relationship with Ming Wan to Wan Chuchu, and she didn’t ask. This woman seemed gentle, but was actually resilient, with her own steadfastness.

Finally, Wan Chuchu watched their car slowly drive away until it disappeared in the distance.

Farewell!

Meanwhile, Yan Hui had bought some pastries that Ming Wan loved and went to the Ming family’s old house early in the morning.

Ming Wan was smiling as she took small bites of the snacks Yan Hui brought while looking at him.

Yan Hui patiently watched her eat, and when she ate half of it, he stopped her, afraid she would overeat.

Ming Wan pouted, "You bought them, yet you won’t let me eat them."

Yan Hui laughed, "When we’re married, I’ll often buy them for you."

Hearing this, Ming Wan was happy again. She teased, "You’ll only buy them after marriage. I feel like you’re the creepy uncle using candy to lure little girls into marriage." Yan Hui laughed heartily.

When Mr. Ming heard the servants reporting continuous laughter from the living room, he nodded lightly, yet he downed a small cup of rice wine on the table in one gulp.

Seeing Ming Wan’s serene smile, enjoying herself, Yan Hui thought and thought, then seriously said:

"That person is leaving today and won’t be coming back. Do you want to see her? If you do, I can take you to the airport now. You’ll still have time to meet her."

Ming Wan froze, quickly understanding what Yan Hui meant. Her smile stiffened and disappeared, her expression becoming lost and helpless.

Once, when she was abroad, she had revealed her innermost secrets to Yan Hui when she cried in sadness for missing home and family, so naturally, Yan Hui knew.

After a long pause, Ming Wan murmured, "Why is she leaving? Is she tired of this place?"

Seeing her looking so pitiful like a little kitten, Yan Hui couldn’t bear to tell the truth, only saying, "Maybe she wants a change of environment to live well. She could live more freely and comfortably outside. Don’t you want her to leave?"

Don’t I? Ming Wan slowly shook her head, thinking Yan Hui was right. Leaving would be best for her, yet she still felt a void, like something was missing.

Yan Hui put his arm around her shoulder, pulling her into his embrace, gently saying in her ear:

"Don’t worry. She will be freer abroad. In the future, we can visit her without being discovered, and no one will do anything bad anymore."

Ming Wan’s tears flowed down instantly. She sobbed, "...Then when we have our honeymoon, we’ll secretly visit her... now... I’m afraid..."

"Alright, whatever you say," Yan Hui gently replied, holding Ming Wan tighter, as if knowing that in his arms, she would find solace.

"Don’t worry. I’ve arranged for someone to take care of them on the way, and there will be someone to meet them when they arrive." His soothing words slowly healed the void in Ming Wan’s heart.

Ming Wan held Yan Hui’s hand, softly saying, "Brother Yan, thank you. Without you, I wouldn’t know what to do." At this moment, she felt that marrying Yan Hui was the luckiest thing in her life.

"Silly, why say thank you to me," being relied upon and trusted by Ming Wan like this, Yan Hui’s inner turmoil quietly changed, feeling like the rest of his life had a focus, no longer empty.

Afterward, Wan Chuchu thought and thought, deciding she should tell Yan Hui about the Liu couple’s matter, as Ming Wan resisted Mrs. Liu. She could tell Yan Hui and let him handle it.

After hearing Wan Chuchu recount the entire situation, and learning that she had given a photo of him and Ming Wan to Mrs. Liu, Yan Hui couldn’t help but laugh.

"Thank you, Chuchu, you did very well."
