Chapter 641: Chapter 639: Unusual Allergic Reaction
Yan Hui stood suspiciously at the kitchen door, watching Ming Wan make vegetable porridge inside, thinking that if anything went wrong, he’d rush in to put out the fire immediately.
But from start to finish, Ming Wan was quite skillful, and soon two bowls of vegetable porridge were ready.
Yan Hui smiled and praised, "I didn’t expect your cooking skills to improve so much; it smells quite good."
Ming Wan paused for a moment, then said, "This is the only thing I can make; I can’t even boil water properly, and no one else can make it taste like this, so I had to work hard to do it myself. Although it’s not as good as yours, I think it’s quite tasty. Have a taste."
There was clearly something else implied in those words. Yan Hui recalled how she looked at him when she was drunk that day, and he felt a bit uneasy, so he didn’t respond.
"Come and try it, see if I have surpassed the master," Ming Wan said, frowning as she called Yan Hui, who was still standing at the kitchen door.
Yan Hui smiled lightly and nodded, "Alright."
Both of them were very quiet while eating, their movements surprisingly synchronized, elegant and decent. If Wan Chu’er saw them, she would surely wonder if Ming Wan had been imitating Yan Hui.
After one sip of the porridge, Yan Hui paused slightly, then casually finished the whole bowl slowly.
When Ming Wan had also finished her last spoonful of porridge and wiped her mouth, she asked with a hint of pride, "Isn’t it quite acceptable?"
Yan Hui nodded with a smile, indeed, the porridge was quite well made.
Who would have thought that as he stood up, he suddenly swayed and felt somewhat dizzy.
"What’s wrong with you?" Ming Wan asked concernedly.
Yan Hui shook his head, and the dizziness only got worse, his face turned red, and he felt even hotter all over.
Seeing his condition worsen, Ming Wan immediately stood up and hurried to his side, grabbing his arm, anxiously asked, "What’s wrong with you? You should go to the hospital."
Seeing Yan Hui acting so strangely, Ming Wan was quite frightened, afraid something might happen that she couldn’t bear.
The gentle touch on his arm, and the faint fragrance in the air made Yan Hui feel even more dizzy, and his body felt more heated, stirring a desire to vent from inside out.
"Get away!" Yan Hui, struggling to maintain his rationality, pushed Ming Wan away.
Ming Wan, stumbled by the push, looked at Yan Hui dazedly, not believing his rudeness, he actually pushed her away rudely!
"Brother Yan... what’s wrong?" Ming Wan asked sadly.
Yan Hui closed his eyes, trying to concentrate, but the soft sound in his ears made him want to approach the source of the sound, to grasp something.
He gasped and asked, "Did you put mutton and ginger in your porridge?"
Huh? Ming Wan paused. Although she was puzzled, she thought along with his question, and nodded, "Yes, with ginger juice and mutton fat, but no mutton."
Ah, so that’s it, Yan Hui thought to himself, realizing that he had an unknown secret, when he ate mutton and ginger simultaneously, he experienced an allergic reaction. It wasn’t an ordinary allergy, he would feel dizzy and lose consciousness, and also feel hot and restless.
He discovered this incidentally when he was eighteen and had been careful ever since; who would have thought he’d fall into Ming Wan’s hands.
"Quick, call Little Si to send me... never mind, don’t call him, don’t tell anyone," Yan Hui said incoherently, feeling this shouldn’t be publicized, then pinched his own arm again, staggering towards his room.
Ming Wan was quite puzzled, but seeing Yan Hui stumbling and almost falling, she hurried forward to support him, only to be pushed away by Yan Hui again.
"Don’t touch me!"
Ming Wan, struck by his actions and words, felt quite embarrassed, was he blaming her? Blaming her for harming him?
When he asked about mutton and ginger, he must have meant his condition was related to those things, so it was her fault, but she didn’t know.
"Brother Yan, I’m sorry, I truly didn’t know, can I help you now? Whatever you need, just tell me, I’ll do my best. Let me take you to the hospital, please!" Ming Wan pleaded, wanting to make up for her mistake.
Her voice and words were like opium to an addict for Yan Hui now. He bit his tongue hard to gain a moment of clarity, struggling to reach the master bedroom door.
"Just stay far away from me, don’t do anything, and don’t tell anyone!" he said before entering the room, closing the door, isolating the anxious Ming Wan outside.
Ming Wan was extremely anxious, not knowing what to do, wanting to go and knock on the door, her fists raised but then lowered as Brother Yan told her not to interfere and to stay far away.
She picked up her phone, wanting to call Wan Chu’er or her brother, but recalled Yan Hui saying not to tell anyone and worried she might harm him further, abandoning the call, running to the door, pressing her ear against it to listen carefully for any sound inside.
Unfortunately, the soundproofing was too good; she listened for a long time, only hearing a vague thud, unsure if he had fallen.
His face was so red, and when she touched his arm earlier, his skin was burning, was he having a fever?
Ming Wan started rummaging through the house, trying to find some medicine, but found none, hurriedly poured a glass of water, added ice, and hurried to the door, hesitating whether to go in and give him the water.
Hesitant for a while, Ming Wan finally mustered the courage, thinking at worst she’d be rebuffed again, deciding to give him a glass of water, she raised her hand and knocked lightly three times, then stopped, pressed her ear to listen, but heard nothing.
The more she heard nothing, the more panicked and uneasy she became, finally pushing hard, opening the door.
Entering the room, however, she didn’t see anyone, instead, the bathroom door was half-open, and the sound of running water came from the bathroom.
Ah! Was he taking a shower?
Ming Wan hurriedly turned around, put the glass of water on the cabinet in the room, and nervously said, "Brother Yan, I brought you a glass of water; maybe drinking some water will help. I’ll leave now, call me if you need anything, I’ll be right outside."
After speaking, she left the room again, closing the door.
Once outside, she sighed in relief, thinking since he had the strength to shower, it shouldn’t be too serious, but then contemplating if maybe he had a high fever, and was using cold water to reduce his temperature?
Thinking of this possibility, she immediately returned to her room, grabbed her wallet and keys, and rushed out to buy a pile of fever-reducing medicine from nearby, as medication works better than cold showers!
