Chapter 629: Chapter 627: The Pitiful Girl
That day, Chuchu sent Chuanqi and Hunter to kindergarten and received a strange phone call on her way back. She saw the number wasn’t familiar, so she hung up immediately. But after a while, the call came again.
Guessing someone must be looking for her, she answered it. Unexpectedly, it was Princess Ming Wan.
Why would Princess Ming Wan be looking for her? Chuchu thought that once she returned to the country, she and Princess Ming Wan shouldn’t have any more contact.
Princess Ming Wan’s voice sounded somewhat low on the phone, and she cautiously asked, "I’m sorry to call you. I was thinking about whom I should call. Can I come to find you?"
Is this girl having some conflict with her family? That was Chuchu’s first thought. Otherwise, why would she think of calling her? Then she realized Princess Ming Wan seemed to be in an open area, with wind howling through the phone.
Not knowing where the girl had gone, Chuchu feared she might run into some accident, so she quickly agreed, "I’m feeling kind of bored alone. Where are you? I’ll come to pick you up."
Princess Ming Wan clearly breathed a sigh of relief on the other end and said, "I’m at West Mountain. Please come to pick me up."
She actually went to West Mountain, no wonder the wind was so strong.
Chuchu hurriedly drove to West Mountain to find Princess Ming Wan. Halfway, she felt it was not quite right, so she called the Crown Prince. Although she didn’t want to have any dealings with the Crown Prince anymore, concerning Princess Ming Wan, she had no choice but to inform the Crown Prince, especially since she didn’t have Ming the Chief’s contact number or anything.
Once the call went through, she didn’t wait for the Crown Prince to exchange pleasantries but went straight to the point: "Your sister just called me to pick her up at West Mountain."
The Crown Prince paused briefly and then said, "Could you accompany her for two days and let her unwind?"
What? Let her accompany Princess Ming Wan for relaxation? It seemed the siblings indeed had a falling out.
Chuchu hesitated about accepting this task. Princess Ming Wan was a good girl. Although she looked fragile, she had her inner perseverance. But she didn’t want to get involved with the Crown Prince anymore.
Her hesitation led the Crown Prince to think she was expecting some reward, so he proactively said, "Please help for two days, and I’ll send you a piece of equipment from the Dingling Pavilion basement."
Ah?
Chuchu realized he misunderstood, casually responded, and hung up the call. She thought, was she really seen by the Crown Prince as someone calculative, unwilling to let go without any benefits?
Forget it, let him think whatever he wants. Let’s see Princess Ming Wan first. If she can be persuaded to return, it would save her from further involvement.
Upon arrival at West Mountain, Chuchu called Princess Ming Wan again and found Princess Ming Wan in a secluded spot on the back hill, according to the provided location.
On the steep hillside there was a large stone, with a part of it hanging in the air, looking very dangerous.
Princess Ming Wan was sitting on the large stone with her long slender legs dangling in the air, quietly sitting there, staring dazedly into the distance. Her slender figure looked thin and lonely, very pitiful.
Seeing her desolate and solitary appearance, Chuchu softened her heart, sighed, and walked over.
"Why are you sitting here? It’s really hard to find this place," Chuchu asked with a smile.
Hearing Chuchu’s voice, Princess Ming Wan turned her head, looking dazed, her face full of desolation and defeat. After a while, she managed a smile.
"Chuchu, you came," she said lightly, pretending to relax. "Sitting here feels quite nice. The breeze is gently blowing, very comfortable."
Comfortable my foot!
Chuchu was still shocked by the desolate scene she’d just witnessed. She reached out her hand, saying, "Come on, give me your hand, I’ll take you elsewhere, there are even better places."
Princess Ming Wan didn’t resist, politely handing her hand to Chuchu, agreeing without hesitation, "Sure."
Chuchu tightly held her cold hand, helped Princess Ming Wan down from the large stone, and without asking why she was there, said, "There’s a beautiful spot up ahead where tourists usually stop for sightseeing and photos at West Mountain. Let’s join the fun."
Princess Ming Wan smiled without objection.
So, Chuchu led her around the front hill, blending into the lively crowd of travelers, bringing her to the scenic spot, and even asked Princess Ming Wan to stand well for some pictures.
Despite being in a bustling crowd, the graceful Princess Ming Wan remained conspicuously apart from her surroundings as if the bustle had nothing to do with her. She looked like a fairy detached from earthly matters, watching the world’s excitement indifferently.
After taking some pictures, Chuchu noticed that Princess Ming Wan’s mood hadn’t improved at all. Knowing she was merely restraining her sadness for her sake, this made her feel even more oppressed, so she didn’t linger and took Princess Ming Wan down the mountain.
Once they were in the car, the surrounding commotion was immediately left behind.
Chuchu asked, "Where would you like to go?"
Princess Ming Wan gently replied, "Thank you for picking me up and taking me to see the scenery and taking photos."
"It’s nothing," Chuchu waved her hand dismissively.
Princess Ming Wan thought for a moment and then hesitantly asked, "Can I stay with you for two days? If it’s inconvenient, you could find me a hotel near your home, and I can just follow you during the day."
With a pitiful look like an abandoned puppy, Chuchu’s heart softened. She had already promised the Crown Prince, so she said with a smile:
"No problem at all, our house is very spacious. My partner won’t be home for the next two days, so you can stay at my place. I have two little ones at home, though. I hope you don’t mind their noise."
Princess Ming Wan’s eyes immediately lit up as she quickly said, "I don’t mind, I don’t mind the noise at all, I love kids." She seemed afraid Chuchu might change her mind halfway.
Chuchu chuckled, "That’s great, you can help me watch over them."
Just then, a few "rumbling" sounds emerged in the car, and Princess Ming Wan’s face turned red with embarrassment.
Chuchu paused and asked, "Didn’t you have breakfast this morning?"
Princess Ming Wan honestly replied, "I didn’t eat yesterday either."
Chuchu: "...!!" This was serious, and she had started fasting! Feeling grateful she showed up, otherwise, the girl might have truly started fasting.
Seeing Princess Ming Wan’s embarrassment, she quickly laughed and said, "Great, I barely had breakfast either. Let’s go have a big meal together. I know a place with great food and a very elegant and quiet environment."
Princess Ming Wan nodded with a smile, realizing that Chuchu was trying to help her out.
So Chuchu drove to Jinhui Imperial Building. The private home-style restaurant occupied half of the fifth floor in Jinhui Imperial Building A. This restaurant was opened by Kong Zifeng for his own convenience, and it’s said the chef was a descendant of a palace chef he found among the people. The restaurant didn’t serve regular customers, only allowing access through the VIP card that Kong Zifeng had given to Chuchu.
Once there, Princess Ming Wan instantly loved the secluded and exquisite environment. While waiting for food, Chuchu said she needed to go to the restroom and left Princess Ming Wan alone in the private room.
Returning from the restroom, she unexpectedly ran into Yan Hui in the hallway.
Seeing Chuchu, Yan Hui could hardly believe his eyes, thinking he was hallucinating or dreaming.
"Brother Yan Hui, what a coincidence, you’re here too," Chuchu greeted excitedly.
