Chapter 23: Chapter 023: Anxious and Confused
"Eva, Eva... where are you going?" Lucas Payten finally caught up with the storming Eva, holding her shoulder.
"Where am I going? You tell me!" Eva glared angrily at Lucas. "If I don’t leave, should I stay there and embarrass myself?"
Why does Sophie Wilson get to know a man so wealthy?
Why can Sophie Wilson ride in a luxury car worth millions, while she can only sit in a car worth ten thousand, a piece of junk?
"How could a man that rich genuinely care for Sophie Wilson?" Lucas Payten tried hard to find his own merits and belittle Charles Seymour. "Can he be like me, devoted to you? He’s surely just in it for the novelty, ready to toss her aside once he’s had enough."
On hearing this, Eva nodded immediately, "Exactly. What’s so good about Sophie Wilson anyway? All she does is shamelessly cling to men."
"Exactly, exactly!" Lucas eagerly agreed, "Come on, let’s not let people like that upset us. It’s not worth it to get worked up and ruin your health."
"Hmm." Eva was still fuming but allowed Lucas to drag her back, while making up her mind to have her uncle dismiss Sophie once he returned.
Meanwhile, sitting in the car, Sophie Wilson looked at the vehicle in confusion, "This isn’t the car you usually drive."
"Hmm." Charles Seymour nodded.
"Why did you suddenly switch cars?" Sophie knew Charles had several cars, but he usually only drove one or two of them, and the one they were in now wasn’t one of his regulars.
"This car’s logo is easy to recognize," Charles said with indifference, leaving Sophie momentarily stunned. Then she couldn’t help but burst into laughter, "Did you do it on purpose?"
"Purposefully drove such a car to slap in their face?"
Sophie laughed so hard she was nearly doubled over. She never imagined he would do such a thing.
This cold and indifferent man, wasn’t he supposed to be above everything?
She didn’t expect his face-slapping to be so swift, fierce, and accurate.
Absolutely hit the mark.
"I always keep my promises. So, you should keep yours too." Charles Seymour’s gaze was icy, and a suffocating aura flooded over Sophie like thick mud, engulfing her with no escape.
A sour feeling spread through her nose, and a thin veil of tears appeared in her eyes. This fool, still thinking about making her keep her promise.
Is the promise just living well?
He’s unbelievably stupid; she had never seen anyone as foolish as Charles Seymour!
Sophie’s reddened eyes and tear-filled gaze made Charles furrow his thick brows tighter, his voice colder than before, encased with a chill that seemed to fall like ice, "You promised, are you thinking about going back on it?"
"Who said I’m going back on it!" Sophie was furious at this point. Thinking about the outcome of this idiot in their previous life, her heart twisted with pain, as if a knife was constantly stirring inside.
If he had openly expressed his feelings and concerns for her, would it have led to such a tragic end in their past life?
She was fortunate enough to be reborn, yet he’s still like this!
This idiot!
Fool!
Moron!
Sophie’s eyes filled with anger left Charles bewildered, unable to comprehend what was wrong with her.
"If you’re not reneging, then why are you crying?" Charles’s frown deepened, his irritation rising just seeing her tears.
If not for his strong self-control, his hand would have already reached out to wipe them away.
"I’m not crying!" Sophie huffed defiantly, turning her face away.
