Chapter 1028: Chapter 1028: My Husband

In prison, every night the inmates are gathered to watch the news.

Even when watching TV, they must abide by the rules, sitting upright one by one, without whispering.

This is their daily moment of relaxation connecting to the outside world, and everyone cherishes it, watching intently. Originally a quiet scene is suddenly broken by the sound of a chair being knocked over with a loud bang.

"4287, what are you doing? Sit down!" The guard sternly reprimands.

Chaya Davis, her hair cut short and visibly skinnier, points at the TV with red eyes, hysterically shouting, "That’s my husband, my husband!" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

The other inmates look up at the TV, where a suave man in a sharp suit is saying something. Could such a man really be her husband?

What a joke!

"Must have been blind, picking her?"

"Her husband? Yeah right. I could say he’s my husband too!"

"He’s an engineer; how could he possibly be her husband?"

"He is my husband!"

"Silence!" The guard loudly warns, rushing towards Chaya Davis and commanding harshly, "Sit down!"

"He really is..."

"Sit down!" The guard doesn’t bother wasting words with Chaya Davis.

Chaya can only sit down reluctantly, staring at the man on the TV screen, clad in a suit, looking incredibly handsome.

How could this be?

Wasn’t he a university professor?

Why is he an engineer then?

Chaya Davis feels like her whole world is in turmoil.

In the study reading, Jerry Taylor hears his phone ring, glances at the caller ID, a slight smile curling his lips as he answers, "Clarissa."

"Bro, Sophie was watching the news with me and told me...you you you...what on earth is going on?" Clarissa Taylor hesitated before finally calling Jerry.

She really can’t calm down right now.

Her brother suddenly feels a bit unfamiliar.

"Sorry, I’ve been on a mission for years, had to keep my identity hidden," Jerry’s explanation confirms Clarissa’s words; he really holds that identity.

"Oh my God." Clarissa exclaims, "Bro, you’ve hidden it so well."

Jerry smiles, saying, "The research has concluded, so I don’t need to hide my identity anymore."

Of course, Clarissa won’t ask what Jerry’s research was about, knowing it’s confidential. As long as her brother is safe, that’s all that matters.

"You nearly scared me to death." Clarissa doesn’t even know what to say, "So, bro, will you be going on missions in the future?"

"Hardly. I’ll be conducting research domestically, won’t be running around anymore," Jerry says, feeling warmth from his sister’s concern.

"Okay, if there’s anything, please tell me," Clarissa says, then adds, "Tell me what you can."

"Alright." Jerry chuckles lightly, "Clarissa, your brother isn’t a child."

"I know, which is why you gave me such a shock." Clarissa really was frightened.

She never imagined her brother held such an identity; if something had happened while he was on a mission, she might never know the true cause.

Thinking about this, Clarissa is terrified in hindsight, thankful nothing happened.

Jerry smiles, not saying a word as he hears Clarissa speak again, "Bro, I’ll come to see you tomorrow; you’re free during the day, right?"
