Chapter 818: Chapter 798: An Encounter With Gongyang Che
Never would have thought that the first to fall would be Jimo Cheng??? Luo Qianqian was dumbfounded; they had just been drinking juice... The only alcohol contact was the little bit she licked from the rim of the glass.
Old Master Jimo’s comment on this: "What a waste of good stuff!!!"
So, it turned out to be Fang Youyuan, who had a glass of red wine, driving Luo Qianqian home. As she watched him pack a few gifts into the trunk of the car, Luo Qianqian looked bewildered.
"Besides the gifts I brought for you, there’s also a present from your brother." Fang Youyuan smiled as he saw Luo Qianqian’s shocked expression, "Let’s go. I need you to direct me; I don’t know the way."
Old Master Jimo was also very assured about Fang Youyuan. Even though he’d had a sip of wine, upon hearing that he was going to drive Luo Qianqian, he simply reminded them to be careful on the road and return soon.
Luo Qianqian nodded, sat in the passenger seat, and obediently fastened her seatbelt.
"Jin Yuee."
"Senior Brother."
While waiting at the traffic light, they both spoke at the same time, which surprised Luo Qianqian into slightly opening her mouth, while Fang Youyuan wore a smile on his face.
"You go first," Fang Youyuan said to Luo Qianqian.
Luo Qianqian shook her head, "I just wanted to tell you we need to turn left at the next intersection."
Fang Youyuan nodded, paused, then said, "Actually, I wanted to say... You can seriously consider this engagement; your brother wanted me to tell you that."
Luo Qianqian was stunned by Fang Youyuan’s words. Her brother wanted her to reconsider?
Didn’t Dad say something similar before he left?
She thought about it for a moment but still shook her head, "This isn’t something I should be worried about. When I face problems, I usually just go with the flow."
"Whatever makes you happy. Your brother’s biggest wish is for your happiness." Fang Youyuan nodded and didn’t say anything else, nor was there any discernible emotion on his face.
Luo Qianqian curved her lips, "But my biggest wish is for world peace." Half-jokingly, she suddenly looked at the car next to them, her face turning green.
"Senior Brother, is that car following us?" she whispered, glancing askance at the car beside them.
"It probably is," Fang Youyuan replied calmly.
Luo Qianqian was exasperated, "And you didn’t mention it sooner???"
"There wouldn’t have been any point in saying so. If they wanted to make a move, they would have done it already. Their inaction suggests they’re just tracking our movements." Fang Youyuan was utterly calm, "Do you know them?"
"Gongyang Che," Luo Qianqian articulated the name word by word, looking at the flamboyant yellow sports car with disdain. People should know she used to like yellow sports cars, like... Bumblebee.
"Oh?" Hearing the name, Fang Youyuan was momentarily surprised, raising an eyebrow, "You’ve tangled with quite a few people, huh?"
Luo Qianqian helplessly twitched her mouth, "Am I the one who stirred this up? It seems more like they stirred me up."
"But it looks like he’s trying to attract your attention," Fang Youyuan remarked, still calm, maintaining their speed without any attempt to shake them off.
Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, "Senior Brother, just look at the way he acts. How blind would I have to be to choose him over Jin Nian? He doesn’t have any self-awareness at all."
Fang Youyuan took a good look at the car keeping pace with his own, then chuckled, "You’re right."
"He’s no good. He even tried to swap out the Crown Prince, and his grandpa is no better, almost got me killed... almost tricked me." Luo Qianqian nearly let slip about the chandelier incident, but quickly corrected herself by mentioning how Gongyang Chou almost tried to give her a jade bracelet last time.
Fang Youyuan listened to Luo Qianqian, his gaze deepening, "Seems Jin Yuee has something attracting them; otherwise, they wouldn’t go to such lengths. And following you requires time, which means they’ve invested both money and effort."
...Luo Qianqian didn’t comment on Fang Youyuan’s words, though she couldn’t deny that offering money and time showed commitment. But what if they did it for greater profit? To them, these things were external possessions, so why should it matter?
"Senior Brother, would you like gold diggers? Those who fall for you just because you’re willing to spend money? Would you like someone like that?" Luo Qianqian asked Fang Youyuan earnestly.
Before Fang Youyuan could respond, Luo Qianqian continued, "As I see it, a woman you can win over with money will sooner or later leave you for more money. Because from the start, she chose to be with you due to the vanity you offered, right? When two people are together, it shouldn’t be all about money, although you can’t do without it either..."
"So, I don’t chase after women," Fang Youyuan replied with a faint smile, "and I’m not interested in those who come after me."
Luo Qianqian displayed a gossip-filled expression, looking at Fang Youyuan’s handsome side profile, "I’m really curious about the stories of Senior Brother’s fervent pursuers."
"Kid, stop imagining things," Fang Youyuan deflected, focusing ahead, "But I know your fervent pursuer wants to intercept us." He kept his gaze ahead, still composed, "So, should we hit him or shake him off?"
"Shake him off," Luo Qianqian promptly decided, "I don’t want any involvement with such a person, even if it’s just Senior Brother beating him up."
"Hold on tight." Fang Youyuan coolly observed the flashing green light ahead; where he would typically slow down and stop earlier, this time, he accelerated, giving Luo Qianqian the fabled push-back experience...
Gongyang Che, expecting them to slow down for the light, was stunned, and the next second, he stepped on the gas despite the light turning yellow.
Fortunately, there weren’t many cars on the road at this hour, or an accident would have been likely.
Luo Qianqian watched as Fang Youyuan zigzagged through several turns in no time, completely disoriented, "I don’t recognize the way anymore."
"As long as I know it," Fang Youyuan calmly replied, "Did you really think spending two years abroad means I’m not familiar with the place anymore?"
Continuing with his zigzag maneuvers.
Luo Qianqian looked speechless, so why did he need her direction?
"Jin Yuee, you can think of me as your brother until he returns. If you run into any issues, you can discuss them with me, I won’t tell anyone," Fang Youyuan said after dropping Luo Qianqian off at Qin Nuan’s house, just before she got out of the car. "Also, keep your abilities a secret. Even if you trust they won’t exploit you... human nature is unpredictable."
Luo Qianqian froze for a moment, then nodded and got out of the car.
Fang Youyuan handed over the suitcase to Luo Qianqian, watching her knock on the Qin Family’s door and enter, waving goodbye to him before he lit up a cigarette and drove away after finishing it.
