Chapter 43 - Come On! I Just Want to Sleep...

1

I really spent the whole night drinking... How stupid.

The source of this c𝐨ntent is freёwebnovel.com.

Well, can't lie — it was fun... but me drinking? Seriously?

Sadly... I didn't win. Not even close. Sela might've tapped out before me, but I followed right after. Farren and Althea went at it for... honestly, I have no idea how long. And Orin? Yeah... Orin drank more than he could handle. Collapsed trying to show off how strong-headed he is — but we all know he's not as tough as he looks... at least when it comes to drinking.

In the end, the winner turned out to be Althea. Farren wasn't too happy about that — losing to a girl and all. His excuse? That Althea joined in so late, he'd already been drinking way longer than her. But honestly... he knew better than to argue with Althea.

Still, he seemed pissed... I think.

I mean, it felt more like something he played up for a good laugh rather than actual anger.

Anyways... A new day. A new day in this weird, drunken, addict-filled world.

...Nah, that might just be Farren. No... everyone. Even Sela seems like an addict from time to time. Though I know she's not — she just likes having fun.

However... I don't know if I'm getting out of bed anytime soon. My body refuses to move, and my head... I think I dreamed about butterflies? No idea. It was weird, at least.

What I'm saying is... I don't think my head's in the game today. And honestly, I doubt it will be. But I know it has to be — Ronan and Farren will probably come bursting through the door soon, dragging me out of bed... and while they're at it, they'll probably drag me all the way to that wolf-slaying quest we were talking about tackling today.

I don't have the energy for that, though...

Maybe I should just go back to sleep? Yeah, that sounds good. We'll take it on tomorrow...

How sad... I've been waiting to do this since yesterday.

...Well, too bad. I need sleep, right? Yeah... Maybe some other time.

Damn it! Why is the sun so strong? I can't sleep with it shining right in my eyes... And it's cold... well, at least it's warm under the blanket — barely.

Maybe... getting up and going down to the fire isn't such a bad idea. Get something warm to drink...

Nah, who am I kidding? I'm staying right here.

Sometimes I really wish I could just be in my old world... Wait, hahaha... what does that even mean? Which one? Honestly, right now it wouldn't matter much. My old room back in Japan wouldn't be too bad... warm, comfy, and I could just lay in bed scrolling through my phone.

...Dang, I miss my phone.

Actually... now that I think about it, I haven't really thought about my phone much before. Maybe I don't miss it as much as I think I do...

Well, something even better than being back in that world would be being back in the mansion... Damn, that place was warm. Warm and comfortable... waking up to luxury food, not getting dragged around by two dorks...

But honestly... living here isn't so bad either. I kinda like that I have to actually do stuff now. Leaving my comfort zone... right? Yeah.

So with that said... Let's get back to sleep now...

"Get up, sleepyhead!"

The two guys I really didn't wanna see right now come bursting through the door... Come on, let me sleep, damn it...

"No... Please... I need to sleep..." Can I please... please just have this one?

"You forgot we were taking on that wolf-killing quest today or something? Come on now, just get up..." Ronan's voice rings out — loud and way too disturbing for this early.

"I'm staying here... give me five minutes," I mumble, hoping they'll just leave me alone.

"Alright... your fault then. Farren, take his legs — I'll grab his shoulders. Let's carry him out of bed."

As Ronan says that, the two of them start marching toward my bed. To carry me? Give me a break!

I try my best to resist, but eventually... I give in.

"Alright, alright! I'll get up, damn it!"

"That's the spirit! We'll wait downstairs. If you're not there in five minutes, we're coming back up," Farren says as the two turn toward the door.

"Alright, alright... I'll be there soon." Damn, can these two be any more annoying?

"Great, see ya," they reply, walking out the door.

Now... do I just go back to sleep? Nah, they'd probably drag me out of bed for real then... Might as well get up.

Why is it so cold...

"Good morning..." I call out, aiming my greeting at Orin and Althea.

"Good morning, Kaito. You sleep well?" Orin responds casually — probably sarcastic, judging by how tired I look.

"Mhm..." I reply simply.

"Yeah, good morning, Kaito," Althea says, her tone calm and quiet... fighting the morning perfectly.

And then we have those two idiots.

"Goood morning, Kaito! How'd you sleep? Great, right? Nice!" Ronan says with a grin.

Farren joins in, "Yeah, good morning, sleepyhead. How long can one person sleep exactly? I've never seen anyone sleep as long as you... Well... maybe Sela. She's still asleep."

That doesn't surprise me...

"Yeah... good morning to you two as well..." I respond tiredly, barely mustering the energy for them.

"Oh yeah, about that... Should we go wake her up too?" Ronan says mischievously, clearly plotting to ruin one more peaceful morning.

"Heh, why not? Could be fun," Farren replies like he lives for this kind of chaos.

"Kaito, come on," Ronan says, walking toward me with Farren right behind him. They grab me by the arm and start dragging me up the stairs.

"...Come on..."

"Be quiet, let's head in," Ronan whispers as they walk into her room — me, of course, being dragged along... Why do I have to be part of this?

"I'll take her legs; you two can grab her shoulders, alright?" Ronan says, grinning like an idiot.

Ronan... you're just a weirdo...

"No, Farren takes the legs," I say, watching Ronan's grin fade slightly.

"...Come on now... Sure..." Ronan mutters, clearly disappointed.

"Sounds good! Alright, let's go," Farren says as we quietly pick her up — Ronan and I each grabbing a shoulder while Farren lifts her legs. Carefully, we head toward the door.

Even being carried down the stairs, she's still asleep? Isn't it cold wearing only a nightdress...?

"Huh? I'm flying...? Am I...?" Sela mumbles in her sleep.

Ronan's barely holding back a laugh.

"Wait... no... Farren? Ronan? And Kaito, huh? What's going on... Where's my bed?" Sela says, her voice groggy as she looks around hastily.

"What are you guys doing?!" Althea shouts, spotting us halfway down the stairs, still carrying Sela.

"Yeah... what are you guys doing?" Sela adds, her confusion growing.

Orin just stares at us, looking utterly lost.

"Just helping Sela out of bed..." Farren says casually.

"I didn't even want to do this... I just wanna sleep..." I murmur, barely keeping my eyes open.

"I see... but... it's really cold, guys. Can you please put me down...?" Sela asks, her voice still half-asleep and shivering from the cold. "And I'm tired... mind if I just go back to bed?"

Once we reach the bottom of the stairs, we set her down. All she manages is a quiet, "Thanks," before turning and heading back up the stairs.

"Come back down, Sela!" Althea calls after her, probably not wanting her to spend the whole day sleeping.

"Ugh... Sure...!" Sela groans, turning back toward us. She seems to have forgotten about the freezing air, trudging toward the table to sit down and finally get some breakfast.

"So... good morning..." Sela mumbles, her eyes half-open as she slumps into a chair at the table. She's still in her white nightdress, her hair a tangled mess, unbrushed and wild. Grabbing some bread, she lazily spreads butter on it, her fingers pale from the cold — just like the rest of her skin, almost matching her hair. How can she just ignore the cold like that? Sure, there's a fire right next to the table, but still...

"Yeah, good morning... You're not gonna put on some clothes? I mean... proper clothes?" Althea asks, watching Sela with a concerned look.

"Neh... I don't have the energy to go back up the stairs..." Ah, so that's why she didn't argue with Althea earlier — she couldn't be bothered to climb back up.

"Good morning," Orin says, casually adding some cheese to his bread.

The three of us — Ronan, Farren, and I — quietly make our way to the table, all a little wary of Althea in case we somehow mess up again. Together, we offer a cautious, "Good morning..."
