Chapter 30: Divinity

William was bewildered when he heard Vivian’s words.

"Divinity?"

Vivian nodded and spoke seriously.

"There is divinity in your blood."

William wasn’t certain what divinity really was. But just from its name, he was certain it was something related to gods.

And the only thing related to gods that he possessed was...

’The inheritance of the God of Time.’

He narrowed his eyes, wondering if the divinity in his blood was related to it.

When Vivian saw him deep in thought, she didn’t know what he was thinking.

But she still added something that made him even more confused.

"This is not the first time I have tasted divinity in your blood."

"Hmm?" William looked at Vivian in confusion.

But when he carefully processed her words, his eyes widened in shock.

’Not the first time she has tasted divinity in my blood...’ He muttered inwardly, his eyes narrowing.

It was the first time Vivian had tasted his blood in this life.

Yet she was saying it wasn’t the first time she had tasted divinity in his blood.

Then it was obvious that she must have tasted divinity in his blood in his previous life.

But this confused William greatly.

’I was just a normal guy in my previous life without the God of Time’s inheritance. Then where did this divinity come from?’

William’s mind was a mess, but he didn’t allow his thoughts to overwhelm him and forced himself to think rationally.

There were many things that felt strange.

Even if he put aside the matter of the divinity in his blood for now, there was another thing that confused him.

’If there was divinity in my blood, then why didn’t Vivian tell me?’

Considering her personality and his relationship with her, William was certain that if Vivian had found traces of divinity in his blood in his previous life, she would have definitely told him about it.

But even until the very last moment, she had never mentioned anything.

Other than saying that his blood tasted better than any blood she had ever tasted before, she had never said anything about divinity.

But now, she was saying there were traces of divinity in his blood.

There was only one explanation for this.

’The Vivian in my previous life didn’t know about divinity. Or at least, she didn’t know about it while we were together.’

After their argument, Vivian had suddenly disappeared without telling him anything.

Even until his death, William never found out where she had gone.

It was possible that after she left, she somehow came into contact with knowledge about divinity and finally understood that the reason his blood was different from everyone else’s was because of divinity.

This also answered another question that had been on William’s mind.

Previously, he had been wondering whose memories Vivian possessed.

Did she possess the memories of his future self, or did she possess the memories of her future self?

Now he knew that she possessed the memories of Vivian from the original timeline.

Because if she had possessed his memories, she wouldn’t have known about divinity.

Only with Vivian’s own memories, after coming into contact with knowledge about divinity, could she know about such a thing.

’Now the only question is... if it isn’t because of the God of Time’s inheritance, then what is the reason behind the divinity in my blood?’

While he was thinking, Vivian spoke again.

"I don’t know much about divinity myself. But since you have divinity in your blood, one thing can be confirmed, you have some kind of relationship with a god, and it isn’t an ordinary one."

When Vivian said the words "some kind of relationship," William could swear he saw her eyes glow with an eerie red light, and the corners of his mouth twitched slightly.

’Here it is. Although she has changed a lot, some things are still the same.’

He shook his head, pushing those thoughts aside, and asked thoughtfully.

"Is this divinity harmful to me?"

Vivian thought for a moment before shaking her head.

"It shouldn’t be. In fact, it should be quite beneficial and will probably come in handy in the future."

"I see..." William nodded and breathed a sigh of relief.

’As long as it isn’t something dangerous, I can rest easy.’

William suddenly thought about Leon, his friend who had asked him what he would do if he somehow traveled back in time.

Even now, William felt that it was because of Leon that he had been able to return to the past.

But there had always been a question lingering in his mind.

Why didn’t he travel back in time himself and give the opportunity to inherit the God of Time’s power to him instead?

William knew they had been very close friends, but that alone wasn’t enough reason for someone to give up such an opportunity.

’Could it be that it wasn’t because he didn’t want to use this opportunity for himself... but because he couldn’t?’

William was still uncertain about how he had obtained the opportunity to inherit the God of Time’s power.

But now that he knew there was divinity in his blood, he couldn’t help but wonder if it was related.

Perhaps Leon couldn’t use the opportunity because he didn’t possess divinity, and because William did, the opportunity had ultimately fallen into his hands.

’Seriously, there are so many things that I don’t understand...’ William rubbed his temples and shook his head.

"Thanks for telling me about this, Senior. I will treat you to a good meal once I arrive at Sun and Moon Academy."

Vivian nodded at his words.

In fact, the reason she had suddenly decided to drink his blood was because she wanted to confirm whether his blood still contained divinity.

And now that she had confirmed it, she was certain that the memories in her head were real.

"I will wait for you at the academy."

As she spoke, Vivian’s figure burst into a cloud of red mist before disappearing.

William stared at the place where she had been standing just a moment ago and slowly closed his eyes.

A minute later, he opened them again, turned around, and began walking away, leaving behind the Astral Rift portal, which was already showing signs of collapse.

As he walked, William suddenly thought of something, and his eyes narrowed.

’Samuel’s situation has always been strange. No matter what, his body has always remained weak. Since he is my brother and closely related to me, could it be that he also has divinity in his blood, and that it is affecting him negatively?’
