Chapter 395: Chapter 395 You’re Finally Back
Alice Turner glanced instinctively towards the gate before entering the house. The person who had been standing there earlier was nowhere to be seen, and she assumed they had already gotten into the car.
Sure enough, a moment later, she saw the car parked in front of hers drive away.
If she guessed correctly, the woman she just saw must be the Mrs. Holmes that Aunt Hua mentioned over the phone.
Mrs. Holmes! Easton Holmes’ mother.
Having heard about his mother’s actions before, she assumed his mother was someone who looked difficult to get along with at first sight. But from that hurried glance earlier, she didn’t see her mother as a difficult person.
But why would his mother keep causing trouble with Lily over and over again? And now, she came to their home to stir things up. What was she trying to do?
Alice Turner shook her head in confusion, then turned back to enter the house. As soon as she entered, Aunt Hua approached her from a short distance near the door.
"Miss! You’re finally back?"
Recalling the incident earlier, Aunt Hua was still quite shaken. However, seeing Alice Turner return, her anxious heart calmed somewhat.
Alice peeked into the house and didn’t see Sophia Wood, so she pulled Aunt Hua aside and asked in a low voice, "What exactly happened earlier?"
In the earlier phone call, a nervous Aunt Hua hadn’t said much, only mentioning that a person referred to as Mrs. Holmes had aggressively come over to create a scene.
Aunt Hua didn’t immediately answer Alice’s question. Instead, she glanced towards the living room to ensure Sophia Wood couldn’t hear or see them, then she began to recount the earlier events to Alice in a low voice.
After listening to Aunt Hua’s indignant recounting, Alice understood what had occurred. As she suspected, Mrs. Holmes was there to cause trouble for her mother again.
What was wrong with that woman? Why did she look down on her sister? What exactly was wrong with her sister that made her so unlikable?
And her own mother, where was her sister going wrong? Why has she been like this to her sister for so many years?
Sometimes she truly doubted whether she was the biological daughter while her sister was the stepdaughter.
With a belly full of questions, Alice headed towards the living room. When she reached the doorway, she saw Sophia Wood sitting on the sofa with an angry expression.
Hearing a sound at the door, Sophia assumed it was Aunt Hua and turned her head, ready to shoo her away. But when she turned and saw Alice, the words she was about to say quickly changed to, "Why are you here?"
Alice should be at work by now; she’s a conscientious workaholic who would absolutely not be home if it wasn’t outside of working hours.
"I came back to grab something."
Alice didn’t tell the truth, worried that Sophia might pick up on something. She hurriedly added, "Just now, as I was coming over, I saw a woman leaving our house. Who was that woman? She seemed quite angry."
The departing woman looked extraordinarily upset, and the person at home didn’t look any better.
With the two mothers in such discord, how could the couple face each other? Wasn’t this making things difficult for the two of them?
Alas!
Alice sighed internally, but she couldn’t show it outwardly. She tried to maintain a normal appearance.
"That woman is Easton Holmes’ mother."
Things developed just as Alice anticipated, and her deliberate actions successfully diverted Sophia’s attention.
