Chapter 1272: Chapter 1271: Rest in Peace Here

Sophia Wood’s words plunged Theodore Holmes into a long silence. Staring down at the teacup in front of him, he didn’t make a sound for a very long time.

Seeing him like this, Sophia knew that what she had just said had not only gone into his ears, but also into his heart.

She didn’t continue talking, letting him slowly digest what she had just said. She believed he wasn’t the kind of child who was utterly beyond redemption.

The only reason he had done those things was because of his mother. In his stubbornness, he believed his mother’s death had been caused by Amelia Linton.

Thinking of this, Sophia felt she should add something: "Fabian! If your mother were still alive, she wouldn’t want to see you like this either. You living a happy, joyful life is what she would most want to see."

As a mother herself, she understood the feelings of mothers everywhere. Every mother hopes her child can live happily, can live well.

Now, seeing her own daughter living such a happy life made her feel happier than anything else.

Hearing Sophia suddenly mention his mother, Theodore slowly lifted his head. His gaze shifted from the teacup on the table to her sitting opposite him. "Aunt Jasmine, I miss my mom. Could you go with me to see her?"

In this very moment, he really missed his mother, more than at any other time.

"I miss your mom too. Come on, let’s go see her together." Over the years, Sophia often thought of Ivy Shaw. Every year on Ivy’s death anniversary, she would go to Ivy’s grave to pay her respects.

Because he didn’t want Amelia Linton and Fabian Holmes to know that he had already learned the truth about that year, Theodore had been secretly going to pay his respects to Ivy Shaw all these years.

Now he could finally go openly to honor his birth mother. He didn’t have to sneak around anymore; that furtive feeling was truly awful.

Sophia and Theodore made a spur-of-the-moment decision to go to the cemetery to pay their respects to Ivy Shaw. Once they had decided, they immediately got up and left the teahouse.

After leaving the teahouse, they found a flower shop and bought some flowers, then drove straight to the cemetery where Ivy Shaw was buried.

The two of them stayed in front of Ivy Shaw’s tombstone for a very, very long time. They said a great many things to her; over these years, they had pent up too many words in their hearts, and at this moment they suddenly found an outlet, pouring everything out in front of Ivy Shaw’s tombstone.

After voicing everything in their hearts, both of them felt much more at ease inside, and also much lighter.

"Ivy, rest in peace here. I will treat Fabian as if he were my own son. I will definitely take good care of him for you." Sophia made a solemn promise to Ivy Shaw’s tombstone. In the past, for various reasons, she hadn’t gone to the Holmes Residence to disturb Theodore. Now that their families were joined by marriage, she had met Theodore again.

For the sake of her best friend who’d been gone for so many years, she felt she ought to treat this child well.

Theodore reached out and touched Ivy Shaw’s photo, saying in a low voice, "Mom, don’t worry. I’ve grown up now; no one dares bully me anymore. I’ll live better and better, and I’ll come to see you often in the future."

From now on he wouldn’t have to worry about anything. Whenever he missed his mother, he could come openly and straightforwardly, without having to guard against this person or that person.

"When you get married, you have to bring your wife to visit your mom too, so your mom can be at ease." Hearing what Theodore said, Sophia added this from the side.
