Chapter 433: Substitute Bride of the Demon King (37)
Yue Ran’s body was yanked back with force and her head inevitably hit Silas’s chest from the momentum.
Caught.
He had caught her.
The young woman was not surprised. She had never thought that she could escape the pursuit of the Demon King with her meager ability. She just wanted to speed up the plot.
Silas towered over her. "Do you still want to run? Everything you did tonight was to escape, right? You are really brave. You have deceived me again and again, huh?"
Yue Ran’s head hit his chest and she groaned in pain. "Let me go..."
Let her go?
Seeing that the young woman still dared to struggle, Silas stretched out his hand and pinched her chin, forcing her to look up at him. However, when he saw her eyes full of tears, his movements paused.
"Silas, I beg you... please let me go, okay? Let me go... I do not want to marry someone else. Please, I will go far away, and I will never appear in front of you in this life..."
"Impossible." When Silas heard her humble and pitiful pleading, his subconscious reaction was to refuse, but his reason for doing so was unclear. "I will not let you go."
Yue Ran’s eyes were already full of tears at this moment as she looked up at the Demon King, and she bit her lips with her teeth, tightly grasping his collar.
"Do you hate me so much?" Yue Ran asked, her voice cracking. "You know my feelings clearly, so you might as well let me die..."
Silas subconsciously eased the strength in his hands a little, but he soon reacted.
"You still want to deceive me," Silas said with a tone full of certainty. "You have been deceiving me from the beginning to the end, saying those words and doing those things, just to escape again, right?"
Yue Ran’s body stiffened, and this reaction was obviously noticed by Silas. At that moment, the anger in his heart nearly pushed him to go on a killing spree.
"So, what happened tonight was all premeditated, right?" Silas stared at the young woman, his eyes dark and oppressive. "Have you been lying to me from start to finish?"
Yue Ran shook her head and denied his statement. "No! No, I am sincere..."
Silas’s grip on her shoulders became heavier and heavier. "You are still lying to me."
This woman is a liar, and she lied to him again when he was almost soft-hearted. He would no longer believe her now.
"Leila, I have said it before," Silas said. "I will not let you go, especially if you dare to play any more tricks on me."
Yue Ran’s tears finally fell. They hit the back of his hand as she begged softly, "Don’t do this... I beg you..."
Silas felt the heat of the tears on his skin, and the hands that held hers tightened. He suppressed the discomfort in his heart and lowered his eyelids as he said, "It is useless to beg me. I will not be fooled by you again."
After that, he raised a hand and delivered a precise chop at the back of Yue Ran’s neck. A wave of soreness and pain surged through her, and Yue Ran immediately lost consciousness, falling softly against him. Before she fainted, she saw the cold mockery at the corner of Silas’s mouth.
...
When Yue Ran woke up again and stirred from her consciousness, it was at Andre and Ellie’s wedding— a celebration that had now turned into something unrecognizable. At that time, Yue Ran found herself ensnared within a dense, shimmering barrier, an oppressive force that cut her off from the outside world.
As she blinked her eyes open for the first time, the bright daylight poured in, illuminating her surroundings. Her gaze fell upon a grim tableau: circles of armored guards, their expressions steely and focused, encircled a once-lively courtyard transformed into a scene of chaos and despair. The lavish decorations that had adorned the wedding now lay in tatters around her—a stark contrast to the joy they were meant to convey.
The wedding hall itself, which had moments before been a vibrant space filled with laughter and celebration, now resembled a site of execution. Shattered wooden beams lay sprawled across the ground, mingling with the remnants of broken porcelain that twinkled ominously under the harsh sunlight. Each piece told a story of what once was: the clinking of champagne glasses, the melodies of a string quartet, and the excitement of guests eagerly awaiting the couple’s vows.
Yet now, not a soul remained in sight; the guests, once gathered in their finest attire, had fled in panic, leaving behind the echoes of their joy that had quickly transformed into screams of terror. The place was devastating, far removed from the wedding festivities, as if an all-consuming disaster had swept through, leaving behind only wreckage and despair. The scene was a terrible sight, seemingly no different from a ruin.
In the heart of the cobblestone courtyard, a cluster of figures remained. It was clear that they had just experienced a fierce struggle, and the ground and the destruction around bore the marks of the confrontation. The outcome of this fight was Silas’s victory, which was not surprising.
Silas, the formidable male protagonist, had more followers and greater power. His magical prowess was unmistakably superior to the two other protagonists— Ellie, the determined female protagonist with fire in her spirit, and Andre, the steadfast male supporting character who, while brave, lacked Silas’s raw power.
Otherwise, he would not have successfully killed so many magicians who came to attack him after he ascended to the throne of the Demon King. Their failed attempts to dethrone him were a clear testament to his skills.
At this moment, Andre was restrained by a throng of half-beast guards and was seriously injured under their siege. Andre had also been stabbed by Silas, and the red blood flowed from the open wound.
