"Is this a new dish?" Yu Zhijing’s eyes lit up, and then she quickly took out her phone to take a picture. Lee Shishi followed suit, not wanting to be left behind, because this dish was truly exquisite and beautiful. She would feel regret if she didn’t save it on her phone.
"An old client mentioned a few days ago that his son loves animals, and he wanted to surprise him on his birthday. This is a trial run—what do you think?" Ye Qiu sat down, and then the waitstaff behind him placed the remaining dishes on the table one by one, with awe in their eyes.
However, the most capturing was the dish she brought in herself—its animals seemed to come to life: tiger, peacock, dolphin, panda, eagle, and so on. The eagle appeared to be flying in the sky, the dolphin swimming in the water, and the panda adorably clutching bamboo. Each scene and movement was perfectly arranged; it was simply magical.
It can’t merely be called a dish; it should be dubbed a work of art!
"I named it Fairy Forest. How about you all give it a try?" Ye Qiu enthusiastically looked at the group.
But none of them dared to make a move, as they felt that destroying this scene would make them sinners.
"Sister, can I ask you how much this dish costs?" Yu Zhijing asked eagerly.
"I just sent a video to the client, and they sent back a red envelope of eighteen thousand eight hundred."
"Whoa!" Everyone sucked in a breath of cold air—even Yu Zhijing, known as the money-maker of the entertainment circle, hesitated at such extravagance.
"Today’s meal is a treat," Duan Yunquan said, picking up his chopsticks, but under the gazes of Yu Zhijing and Lee Shishi, he hesitated and turned his attention to the large shrimp instead.
"It’s nothing special, just a bit of technique. If you like it, I’ll make it for you often in the future." With that, she didn’t wait for everyone’s reactions and picked up the tiger’s head herself.
Yu Zhijing and Lee Shishi seemed to hear the sound of their hearts breaking. But Ye Qiu was right—having her meant good food would always be available in the future.
So both of them quickly picked up a panda and a dolphin, snapping a few more photos before reluctantly opening their mouths to eat.
Only after tasting it did they realize that for this dish, not only the appearance but also the taste was critical, and they closed their eyes to savor it.
"How lucky am I to have such a sister!" Yu Zhijing remarked emotionally.
Although Lee Shishi didn’t voice her thoughts, she felt the same—how fortunate she was to have a boyfriend with such an immortal-skilled sister.
The meal left everyone satisfied, with full bellies reluctant to get up.
When parting, Lee Shishi said to Ye Qiu, "Let me know when you come to school, and I’ll take you to enrollment."
"Alright." Ye Qiu didn’t hold back, and after this meal, Lee Shishi felt much closer to them.
"Has Ye Cheng introduced you to his other siblings?" Cheng Zhizhi asked in surprise, "You’re moving fast. Is that really okay? Will his parents approve of you two?"
"What’s there for my parents not to approve of? Ye Cheng is so outstanding and treats me so well—I reckon they’d be overjoyed. I’m planning to introduce him to them soon," Lee Shishi said happily yet shyly.
"Don’t rush things. Young people nowadays don’t tell their parents about relationships so quickly because it leads to more interference. Besides, you’re only a sophomore. It can wait until after graduation. Enjoy your couplehood in the meantime."
"But it’s not right—after all, Ye Cheng has already introduced me to his siblings," Lee Shishi said with a hint of disapproval.
Cheng Zhizhi sneered, "They’re not his real family."
"Zhizhi, if you keep saying such things, I’ll get angry. For Ye Cheng, his siblings are just like family. Don’t speak like that again," Lee Shishi asserted sternly.
Cheng Zhizhi quickly changed her tune, "Alright, alright, don’t be mad. I know you’re defending your boyfriend. I won’t say that anymore. Next time, I’ll go with you to help enroll his sister."
"Sure." Lee Shishi agreed without any scheming and even offered Cheng Zhizhi some pastries made by Ye Qiu, "These are from Ye Cheng’s sister’s shop—give them a try. They’re really good."
Cheng Zhizhi hesitantly took a piece and was amazed by the taste, "Such delicious pastries—how come they’re not a big hit?"
"It’s their first shop in City A and just opened. Soon, they’ll gain fame. And these are made by the staff—Ye Cheng’s sister’s personal creations are even better."
"Then I definitely want to meet Ye Cheng’s sister. Didn’t expect even those around Ye Cheng to be so exceptional."
"That’s why I need to be even more outstanding."
Cheng Zhizhi laughed, "Do you even need to try? Ye Cheng treats you so well—young, successful, and capable—you’re practically destined to be Mrs. Luo!"
"That’s not the right mindset. Precisely because he’s excellent, I must work even harder to match him," Lee Shishi countered righteously.
"Alright, you’ve made a good point. I just don’t want you to be too pressured as your best friend."
Soon, the day of new student enrollment arrived. Cheng Zhizhi showed up early at Lee Shishi’s house, jokingly saying, "Still dolling up? Aren’t you worried about making Ye Cheng’s sister wait?"
"No worries, we’ve scheduled to meet at the school entrance at eleven. It’s only nine thirty now."
"Since it doesn’t bother you, I won’t say anything then."
Lee Shishi felt slightly uncomfortable hearing this but didn’t dwell on it, replying with a smile, "There’s snacks on the table; help yourself. I’ll be ready soon."
When they arrived, Ye Qiu was already there. They weren’t late—it was a quarter to eleven when they arrived. Ye Qiu had developed the habit of arriving early; she disliked making others wait.
"Sorry we’re late—it’s all Shishi’s fault for taking so long to get ready, making you wait," Cheng Zhizhi apologized incessantly as if implying it was all Lee Shishi’s fault.
Lee Shishi pursed her lips at the comment but didn’t overthink it, asking apologetically, "Have you been waiting long? Are you hot?"
"With the sun so strong, it’s bound to be hot. Let’s head inside quickly," Cheng Zhizhi chimed in first.
Ye Qiu gave her a long look before warmly telling Lee Shishi, "I’m not hot, and you’re not late. I’m just habitually early; it’s me who should apologize."
Cheng Zhizhi chuckled, seemingly ignoring Ye Qiu’s gaze while continuing to compliment, "So you’re Ye Cheng’s sister? You’re really beautiful—I envy your skin. How do you keep it so white and smooth?"
"Fewer schemes, more rest," Ye Qiu replied casually, making Cheng Zhizhi’s smile freeze momentarily.
