Chapter 96: Spirit Animal / 10.1 : This Eden is a hybrid freak
When Eden opened his eyes he was calm despite his situation. He looked down and only saw water, his feet were dangling 300 meters from one of the most dangerous rivers. He was sitting on the railing of a bridge. He turned when he heard a familiar voice.
"Do it, it’s the only way we can be together."
Eden turned his head and closed his eyes for a few seconds to receive the entirety of this universe’s information. Last time he only took as much as he would need to know more about his situation.
This Eden is a 20 years old hybrid half Dragon and half rabbit. In this world, every human has a spirit animal called a spa. The spirit animals in them only show a few particular physical traits, which can be concealed at the wearer’s will. All humans have the personality attributes that go with their spirit animal.
The most frequent spirit animals are the dragon, tiger, rabbit, ox, snake, and rat. They are much more but those are the spirit animal most seen. Dragons are at the top of the food chain and they run the world. It is extremely taboo for a dragon to be with another spirit animal.
While other spirit animals mix and procreate with others dragons don’t. Res Knox was a dragon from a very old family and the president of Knox Fort a cyber security company. Knox Fort was a top ten company used by any major company created by Res from the ground up. One day Res Knox met a woman and it was love at first sight.
Unfortunately, the woman’s spirit animal was a rabbit. After being together in secret for a while he broke up with her after his brother Bastian and sister Alessa found out about their relationship. Res was heartbroken because he genuinely loved her. He focused all his energy on the company but 9 months later he received a letter from her. It said that she had given birth to a hybrid baby and that she couldn’t raise him.
A hybrid baby is a normal occurrence but one that is half-dragon is something that had never been seen. Eden was the first Dragon hybrid. Dragons are perfectionists and expect the same perfectionist ideals from others which makes them difficult to get along with at times but despite their egotism, Dragons exert a considerable amount of influence on all around them while rabbits are conservative and timid by nature.
They are very cautious in their decision-making and need to analyze everything inside-out before coming to a firm decision. Clearly, those two personalities clashed with each other and everyone thought that it would be impossible for Eden to accomplish anything in his life and his mother thought the same as well. She wrote the address of the orphanage she put him in in case he wanted to raise him.
After Res told Bastian and Alessa he chose to leave the baby in the orphanage. 20 years later he died of illness. Before he died he wrote a testament and gave instructions. The testament said that once he dies Alessa would have to bring Eden into his house and help him until he becomes the president of Knox Fort.
He added that Alessa and Bastian would run the company until Eden turns 20. He left the deed of his mansion to Eden and 70 percent of the shares of Knox Fort but all the papers were kept from Eden. Alessa and Bastian moved into the house Res left for Eden with Alessa’s daughter Arya.
They followed Res’s instruction and brought Eden into the mansion and signed him up in the university Res had chosen for him. It just so happen that Arya was a student there and in the same classes since she was following the same curriculum as him. Quickly Eden’s life became a nightmare whether in the house or at the university.
At the University he was bullied for being a hybrid and called numerous names including bunny. Bunny was a derogatory term for rabbits’ spiritual animals. At home, he became haunted by his dead father’s spirit. He followed him everywhere whispering bad thoughts in his ear. His spirit seemed so real and he could even touch him.
At first, he thought it was a real person but when he asked his uncle and aunt if they could see him they said no. For a month the spirit of his father whispered to him that he was never wanted, he was a hybrid freak, and that he would be better off dead.
After hearing those kinds of words at home and the university Eden started to lose his mind. One day after the spirit whispered in his ear to kill himself by jumping off a bridge he did and died by asphyxiation. Alessa and Bastian incinerated him without a funeral.
They never liked the fact that their brother had left everything to his son Eden. The reason Res didn’t leave the company to them is that he knew that the two were having an incestuous relationship. He found out when he first became sick and quickly realized that Arya was the fruit of that relationship. He also comprehended that at the time he learned about his son Alessa was pregnant and they wanted their daughter to inherit Knox Fort.
Res didn’t say anything but put in place a secret testament so his son could inherit everything. The measure put in place assured that they would follow his will if they wanted shares of the company and a permanent position there. After their lawyer told Alessa and Bastian that they had to follow the testament if they wanted to live in wealth they put in place a plan. They hired a man who looked similar to Res named Destry and paid him to whisper in Eden’s ear until he kills himself.
They told Arya to make his life at the university a nightmare while Res’s ghost did the same at home. They pretended not to see him and acted as the perfect aunt and uncle. Once he died they celebrated and took over the company. They could finally live as a family alone in their house and have their daughter inherit Knox Fort. They told Arya the truth about their relationship and she accepted their relationship. They lived happily ever after in Eden’s house.
When Eden opened his eyes again he looked down hiding his anger. When he turned his head to the "spirit" his eyes were shining with unshed tears. He said:
"I don’t understand, why do you want me to kill myself? Why are Alessa and Bastian pretending they can’t see you? It’s like they want me to lose my mind. I’m so tired, for a month you followed me everywhere whispering in my ear the most horrible insult. I don’t understand. I don’t understand. I don’t understand..."
Destry looked at Eden with a smile. He’s finally losing his mind.
"You’ll understand once you die and join me."
Eden’s tears fell profusely and his hand gripped the railing tighter.
"I don’t want to die. I want to make my father proud."
Destry was starting to lose patience, he’s been stuck here for 40 minutes. He thought convincing this bunny would take a day or two but it’s been a month. He can’t receive the money until that freak dies.
He howled:
"You have to die now. Everybody fuckin hates you, you’re nothing but a hybrid freak."
Eden whispered:
"Alessa and Bastian don’t hate me, they’re my family."
Destry sneered:
"They hate you, they want you to die."
Eden shouted:
"You’re lying they love me. Why would they judge me when they are dating each other and made Arya?"
Destry was shocked to hear that revelation but focused and said:
"They’re the ones who hired me to kill you, you hybrid freak!"
Eden said sadly:
"They did? They want me dead?"
Seeing that Destry had him where he wanted he sat on the railing next to him and tempted:
"If you want to prove to them that you love them give them what they want."
Eden wiped his tears and looked at Destry and said determinedly:
"No, I’ll stay alive and make them love me."
Seeing that determination in his eyes Destry was sure he wasn’t going to do it anymore. If he doesn’t want to do it then he’ll help him.
Destry tried to push Eden but with his hand gripped firmly and with the way he was struggling he fell. Before he could Eden grabbed his wrist as he dangled in the air. He looked at the 300 meters separating him from the river. He looked at Eden pleadingly:
"Please don’t let me go."
"You’re my father’s spirit so even if you fall you won’t die."
Destry looked at him wide-eyed:
"No, no you can’t let me fall. I’ll die."
"If for me to get rid of you is to let you fall then I will."
Destry looked at him scared and tried to grip the railing but before he could Eden let go of him. He smirked at his screaming face.
He got down from the railing and grabbed his bag. He went through it looking for his cellphone. He took the cellphone and hacked into it. After finding out all the information he needed he called for a cab and got in when it arrived. He was seated at the back and checked his calendar. He clearly doesn’t need to go to the university since he can run a company with his eyes closed but he’ll still go. He linked his computer to Versem and smiled viciously. Alessa and Bastian will pay dearly.
They dare to have an opinion on a hybrid when those two are fuckin each other when they are fuckin brother and sister? No wonder their spirit animal is snake and rat. Bastian is a snake and they are naturally attracted to the finer things in life and know how to enjoy themselves and live life to the fullest no matter who they have to crush. Alessa is a rat and ambition allows them to get things down swiftly.
They Always try to stay one step ahead of the competition, Rats can sometimes be manipulative and opportunistic. No fuckin kidding. When he was done with his computer he looked at himself on his cellphone camera. The man looking back had green eyes with long eyelashes. He had long phoenix eyes and narrow and thin eyebrows. His dark hair made his green eyes shine brighter. He carried an aquiline nose that complemented his prominent cheekbones. He was the same as usual which annoyed him.
I’m a dragon I should be strong. To be fair he is half rabbit too. Eden used Versem to enhance his spirit power. He won’t give anyone the chance to look down on him for being a hybrid. Because of everyone acting as if he was a freak he hated himself. He never let his spirit out which is the only way for your spirit to grow so he has to do it using Versem. The sad thing is that he has all the qualities of the dragon which are the strongest and all the ones from the rabbit.
He has strength, fire, wings, and the indestructible skin of the dragon and the speed, the camouflage, the enhanced leaps, and the enhanced senses of the rabbit. He has one of the most powerful spa in the world but he never got to know that because he spent his life hiding. But Eden won’t hide any longer he’ll walk proudly, he just needs to use a few as an example and no one will dare to even look at him.
Eden paid for the cab and got out of the car. He closed his eyes and two cute bunny ears appeared on his head and a green dragon tail. He walked on campus holding his head held high, everybody started to whisper while pointing at him. Eden rolled his eyes and entered the building to go to his class.
While he was walking in the hallway a man with a snake as spa yelled:
"Shouldn’t you hide bunny?"
Eden stop and stood in front of him. He asked:
"What did you call me?"
He looked at him and sneered:
"Who do you think you are bunny?"
Eden wrapped his tail around his throat tightly and smirked. The man tried to unloosen his hold but couldn’t, he kept hissing in panic. Everyone stopped watching intently and they all took a few steps backward unable to breathe because of Eden’s imposing aura. They couldn’t believe that the hybrid freak was this powerful.
Eden threatened:
"If you dare use that word ever again I’ll skin you alive and make a purse out of your skin."
Eden unwrapped his tail and took a step backward looking down. He said his eyes full of pain:
"Please don’t call me bunny."
The man that was just threatened to be skinned alive looked at Eden shocked. Everyone did just a few seconds ago he had the aura of a dragon from the old country and now he had one of a cute rabbit.
When the man looked behind him he realized why.
"Really? You’re an adult and you still use that kind of derogatory term?"
The president of the university howled at him. He looked at Eden’s miserable face and felt sad for him. He grabbed the man by his shirt and dragged him to his office while screaming:
"We’ll see what terms you’ll use when I call your parents."
This school is a high-end school for the children of the richest men and women in the country. They’re essentially trained to take over a multimillion company so, of course, their parents are tough on them. Eden smirked at him and put away his rabbit aura.
In the original timeline if he wasn’t so scared and cowardly he would basically be running the world. Eden walked to the room for his next class but stopped when he felt a heated gaze. He stopped and raised an eyebrow at him. The man approached him with a smirk and grabbed his tail. He started to caress it up and down, Eden felt a shiver and immediately grabbed his wrist. His eyes were full of anger as he tossed his hand away. He threatened:
"Touch me again and you’ll lose your hand."
