Chapter 91: Ancient Era / 9.12 : Don’t you know?
Eden woke up and looked up. He often checks to see how he is doing every morning, most people would find it weird but he finds it necessary after being used to suffering. He does feel better than he did yesterday but he is nervous. Eden caressed Yecheng’s cheek, he can still picture his heartbroken face when he thought he was responsible for him losing the baby. Even if he acted like he was okay with them having a baby in a couple of years he isn’t.
He wants to try now but he’s not sure if Yecheng will too. He took the news worst than he thought he would. But then again Gege was always willing to do everything for his children, just like Yecheng is with Shenyan. He feels like having another child would complete their family. He’s so used to living in the modern era that he wasn’t careful with what he was eating and drinking so this happened but if he’s pregnant again he won’t make the same mistake.
At least today they don’t have court so they can just relax the entire day and he’ll broach the subject. Yecheng opened his eyes and met Eden’s. He pulled him closer and asked:
"Are you okay?"
"I am. Are you?"
When he didn’t respond for a long time Eden looked up and Yecheng looked uneasy. Eden sat up and so did Yecheng.
"What’s wrong?"
Yecheng swallowed and said:
"I don’t know how hard it must be for you because you were the one carrying the baby but I was wondering if you would be open to trying."
Yecheng looked at Eden nervously. Eden felt a little stunned, he thought it would take some convincing but they are on the same page. He can be pregnant by tomorrow with the help of the system. He always optimizes his body to make sure he is the healthiest he can be.
After his miscarriage, he cleansed his body so he wouldn’t have to wait if he wanted to try again. Yecheng held his hand.
"Like I said I don’t know how you feel so if you think it’s too much we’ll wait until you’re ready."
Eden smiled.
"I was thinking the same."
Yecheng looked at Eden stunned.
"Really?"
"Really."
Yecheng smiled and hugged him tightly.
Weilong walked to his tent and looked at the map on the table. When someone came in he simply ordered:
"Leave!"
He had his back to the person but he could still hear the footsteps approaching. He turned around angrily but it faded when he saw that it was Eden. He immediately asked:
"Are you okay?"
Eden nodded with a smile. Weilong hugged him, he feels heartbroken for his son. He can’t even imagine how he must be feeling right now. When he suddenly left yesterday he sent a letter to check on him since Eden refused to see anyone and he told him what happened. He understood after what he went through. He pulled back and looked at him.
"I’m sorry I was sick and I was in no condition to see anyone."
Weilong caressed his head.
"It’s okay."
Eden looked at the map and asked:
"What are you doing?"
"There are words that a dark alchemist has been experimenting on drifters and this all the places we found dead bodies."
When Eden’s eyes darken Weilong asked:
"Do you know something about this?"
Eden explained:
"He works for Kuang. He’s been working on a drug that would make me act as his puppet but I didn’t think he would take things this far."
In the original timeline, the dark alchemist never hurt anyone which means whatever he had planned for him changed into something more destructive so he needed bodies to experiment.
Weilong frowned, Eden looked at him and said:
"I have it under control I’ll deal with the dark alchemist today and Kuang tomorrow."
"Didn’t you say that Kuang wanted to deal with you today?"
"He did but I promised Yecheng I would rest today so I won’t be at the celebration tonight."
Weilong looked at him with worry and asked:
"Are you sure you’re okay?"
Eden smiled reassuringly.
"I am I promise, also Yecheng and I decided to try again."
Technically when he got pregnant they weren’t trying but it was still a blessing. Weilong smiled, he was afraid that Eden might close himself to having any children because of what happened but he should’ve known better. He’s one of the strongest people he knows. Plus the fact that he is willing to try again means that he’s not leaving and it makes him beyond happy. He hugged him again.
"I’m glad."
Eden smiled.
They both turned around when Caishen entered. Eden smiled at him and he smiled back.
"How are you, Eden?"
"I’m okay thank you."
Eden looked at his father and said:
"I’ll deal with the dark alchemist and I’ll let you know when I’m done."
Weilong nodded.
"Be careful."
Eden nodded. When he reached the exit he gave a stern sign to his father. He loves Caishen and it’s clear that he loves him too so confess already. Weilong narrowed his eyes at his son. When Caishen looked at Weilong then Eden confused Eden left after giving him the last warning.
Caishen looked at Weilong and asked:
"Is everything okay?"
Weilong nodded.
"Eden was sick last night and I couldn’t see him so I was worried."
So that’s why he’s been in a bad mood this entire morning. He can tell when Weilong is ready to talk and when he isn’t so he gave him space. They’ve been friends for less than a decade so he knows him by heart.
Thinking about what Eden said he asked:
"Eden knows who is responsible?"
"He does he’ll deal with him then send us word."
Caishen nodded, he never thought Eden was this strong before. He always knew he was a genius but not in martial arts or alchemy too. He didn’t even thank him again for the elixir when it’s been incredibly helpful. It was hard having to work harder on his internal force when the men did the same but were able to become stronger.
He felt Weilong staring at him and he couldn’t stop himself from blushing. His eyes were like this roaring fire. Why is he doing this to him? It’s already hard to spend as much time with him as he does when he loves him without Weilong looking at him like that. Sometimes he believes that he feels the same as he does but then he thinks that he wants it so much that he’s probably imagining it.
Just the thought makes him ache, he doesn’t know how much longer he can do this. Caishen turned around to leave but he felt Weilong hold his wrist. He pulled back his hand like he’d been burned. He doesn’t like it when Weilong touches him, he often does it and it only makes him more hopeful. He hid the pain in his eyes and asked:
"What is it?"
Weilong frowned, even if Caishen had a smile on his face he could tell he was upset.
He took a step closer and reached out to caress his cheek but Caishen took another step back.
"What do you need me to do?"
"What’s wrong?"
Caishen smiled like he hadn’t been avoiding his touch and said:
"I’m waiting for you to tell me what you need me to do."
Weilong narrowed his eyes, he took a step forward and grabbed Caishen before he stepped back again. Caishen became embarrassed when he felt their chests press against each other. He tried to free himself but Weilong was like a brick wall.
"Why are you running from me?"
Caishen swallowed, he blinked and felt unable to say anything. They are too close! He can’t even think properly. How is he supposed to focus when he can feel his warm breath on his face?
He looked away a little panicky. Weilong tightened the hold he had on his waist and with his other hand, he turned his face. His hand was behind his neck. Caishen bit his lip then asked:
"Why are you doing this to me?"
Caishen was close to tears, his eyes were sparkly and his pink lips were pouted. He looked so beautiful and moving that Weilong’s heart turned into a puddle.
Weilong kissed his beautiful sparkly eyes and Caishen froze in shock. He looked into Weilong’s enamored eyes and knew that this time he hadn’t imagined it.
"You can’t look at anyone like that beside me do you understand?"
Despite being in shock Caishen asked in a small voice:
"Why?"
"Because if you do they’ll fall in love with you."
Caishen felt his heart beating even faster and asked:
"Don’t you want me to be with someone?"
Weilong tightened his hold and said domineeringly:
"No, you can’t be with anyone but me."
Caishen looked at him stunned. Weilong asked:
"Don’t you know how much I love you?"
Caishen looked at him teary-eyed and shook his head. Weilong smiled.
"How could you not? Even when I was at my worst I knew that I would be okay because you were by my side. I never want to be without you so you can’t leave me."
Caishen nodded with a smile.
He wrapped his arms around his neck and promised:
"I’ll never leave you I swear."
Weilong smiled and kissed him tenderly, Caishen kissed him back. All this time turns out Weilong felt the same way as he did. Now that Weilong is his he’ll never let him go.
