Chapter 35: Sorcerer / 5.13 : Ashes to ashes
Minglan and Tianlin who had heard the explosion smiled. They killed the last Haywire Nexus and Sorcerers and met at the rendezvous point. When they arrived all the Guardians were standing there. Minglan smiled at her father but he only looked at her angrily. She frowned not understanding why he is upset when their plan worked perfectly. He walked to her and yelled:
"How could you think about running away with your brother!"
Minglan looked at him wide-eyed. She looked at the Guardians but they didn’t seem surprised, they just looked disgusted.
She asked:
"Father, what are you talking about?"
"What happened in the cave last night was leaked."
Tianlin and Minglan looked at each other frightened. They’ll never become Guardians now, even if they do everyone will hate them. It’s a good thing that they decided to run away. They thought they had heard the worst until Huang said:
"Your father’s sex tape with Ruiqi was also leaked. He is your biological father."
Tianlin looked at his father, he reached for him asking:
"Father, what are you saying?"
Huang avoided his touch and said:
"Your mother cheated on me with Yifeng, he is your father. don’t call me that ever again."
Tianlin started to breathe heavily, he only saw indifference in his father’s eyes. Minglan was happy to hear that Yifeng is indeed his father but she felt heartbroken for Tianlin. Yifeng laughed.
"You’re even stupider than I thought, the video and the DNA test were forged."
"You’re only saying that to save your reputation."
Yifeng showed his cellphone.
"The day your wife admitted to giving Minglan to my wife I did a DNA test, here’s the result. I would never cheat on my wife let alone with your whore of a wife."
Huang grabbed the phone and felt his heart beating faster. No, it’s not possible, he could tell that the papers were real since he knew the doctor who signed them. He would never forge legal documents. Yifeng grabbed his cellphone and looked at him with disdain.
"You were willing to give up on the son you raised his whole life when you thought he wasn’t yours, it makes me wonder what you did to your wife when you thought she cheated on you."
Tianlin frowned when his father’s face blanched. He asked his voice trembling:
"Father what did you do to mother?"
Huang looked at his son feeling even more guilty, when tears fell on his face Tianlin knew what his father had done. He yelled
"How could you kill her!"
Huang fell to his knees crying silently.
Minglan hugged Tianlin, he held onto her as if he would drown in all this sorrow. Huang looked at his son until he couldn’t take it anymore. He never felt this guilty in his entire life, he killed the person he loved most in the world taking her away from the person he loves second.
One of the Guardians who was happy that Huang would be thrown out of the Order said:
"Since Huang will no longer be a Guardian we’ll need to test all the other Guardian to find the person who will lead with Yifeng."
The viewers never thought they would see so much drama on The GE Trial, which they lived for. Everyone looked toward the forest when they heard:
"Is that all you care about?"
Everyone looked at Yixin, the twins and Eden shocked. Even Huang stood up and asked incredulously:
"How did you survive the explosion?"
Eden smiled at him.
"I was there, I was never going to let my soulmates and Yixin die."
"You’re just a Nexus there’s no way you could stop it."
Eden looked at Yifeng and said:
"Did you really think the four of you could get rid of us?"
Minglan looked at the twins and said trying to save her skin:
"I’m so happy you are okay, I was so scared you died in that explosion."
Everyone shook in fear when they felt the twins’ anger, it was stifling. Shaoren said:
"Even now you keep lying."
Minglan opened her mouth but nothing came out. Eden looked at Shaoren.
"Don’t worry my love I’ll deal with Huang, Yifeng, and the incest twins."
Minglan and Tianlin’s faces became read hearing the nickname. They knew that it would spread everywhere now. She yelled in rage:
"Don’t call us that, we didn’t know we were related."
"That’s true when you were meeting in hotels but yesterday when you decided to run away together you did."
Eden looked at the incest twins mockingly.
They both looked at him furiously. Eden waved his hand and they were all tied to a tree. Not only were Huang, Yifeng, Tianlin, and Minglan but they were also a few Guardians. They felt the tree closing in on them until only their head could be seen. Eden stood before them with a smile. One of the guardians yelled:
"Leaders what do you think you’re doing let us go."
"They’re not responsible I am."
Huang said seething:
"You’re nothing more than a fuckin Nexus."
Eden’s eyes turn cold and a dark ball of energy appeared above his hand, when it turned to white everyone knew Yintang had returned.
Huang gaped.
"How is that possible?"
"Not only did you try to turn me into a puppet but you were going to kill my loves."
Even the viewer could feel Eden’s anger at that moment. He yelled:
"I sacrificed my entire life to write books to teach you how to use your magic and in return, you enslaved the Nexus!"
When he was Yintang, his entire life was dedicated to studying magic and helping magicians to become stronger. They walked all over his legacy by doing the opposite of what he wanted.
The earth shook in the entire realm, everyone was frightened.
"Just because you’re magicians you think you’re above them? Without them, you would be nothing more than filthy humans as you call them!"
Eden waved his hand as he incanted making it clear to everyone what he was doing:
"Eternal life I bestow upon thee to have those black souls burn for eternity."
All the trees caught fire, all the realm could hear were the screams of pain. Eden looked at the camera peering into each viewer’s eyes:
"Retribution has only just begun, anyone who had a hand in making life difficult for the Nexus will suffer the same fate. From now on Nexus will be free and have the same rights as magicians. Anyone who disobeys the new regulations will be punished in the dark forest forever."
All the Nexus took to the street to celebrate their freedom, it lasted for days. A program was put in place for The nexus to find a home and a job. Eden wasn’t surprised when most of them went back to working at the house of their previous owner, except that this time they had a home to go back to and were paid. Once everything was settled and everyone lived well Eden married the twins. Nansheng, A-Xuan, and Yixin were their men of honor. Just a couple of months later they became the man of honor of A-Xuan and Nansheng. Yixin who had entered the Order found love with another Guardian. He was happy to see that he didn’t suffer the same terrible fate as the original timeline.
Eden sat in bed waiting for the twins. He held his chest when he felt power pouring in. Once it was over he sat up and looked in the distance. He thought that Gege was present in all his previous life but he was wrong. His soul-flakes are scattered in all the universe he traveled to. That means he isn’t following him as he thought. This knowledge made him feel complicated. Even if he isn’t why does he keep falling in love with him? And why would someone as powerful as him scatter his soul-flakes in the multiverse?
From the previous universe, he was sure that whoever stole his soul from his universe and made him reincarnate in the multiverse knows Gege or at least comes from the same universe. He feels like they both work for whoever’s in charge of the portals of the multiverse. He knows there’s more than one. He also knows that there are guardians of the timeline so he doesn’t get how the person after him was able to do all of this undetected, he must have a high position but not as high as Gege since Versem sometimes lose track of him. That person had to change the timeline of each universe he reincarnated into but no one seemed to have noticed, that’s why he knew no one would detect him either once he started getting revenge.
Whoever punished him was sure that he would never be set free, his confidence will be his downfall. He’s getting more information every time he gains power, soon he’ll be able to pinpoint and kill him. Did Gege’s soul-flakes happen to randomly be in every universe he’s been to? This stresses him a little because it means that he might not always be there. When the door opened the twins entered. They took a seat in front of Eden and asked at the same time:
"What’s wrong?"
They can feel sadness and fear from him, it’s practically palpable. Eden bit his lip, after a few seconds he asked:
"Do you think we’re meant to be or did we just happen to randomly find each other?"
Shaoren said with certainty:
"I believe we are fated."
"We were meant to be together in all our lives and we will. Never in my life have I been more certain of anything."
Eden felt better hearing that, the only way he’ll be able to know if Gege did this voluntarily is when he reached the next universe. He made him a promise, if he respects it’ll confirm everything he believes to be true about him.
Eden spent the rest of his life with the twins, they lived until they were 160. Once they died Eden left for Versal. He received the rest of the power he slept for five years. He woke floating around all the planets. He looked around his heart beating fast. His body was pushed toward an orange planet, he touched it his eyes full of excitement and disappeared.
