Chapter 33: Sorcerer / 5.11 : A Nexus unlike other
The rest of the ride to the GE Trial happened in silence. Once they were in front of the dark forest, they both took a breath and put on happy faces. When they came out of the car the camera crew immediately filmed them. They walked in front of the shield to the other participants. They were 11 of them and it seemed that only one was missing. They discussed with the other candidates showing a united front despite their previous attitude in the car. They’ll do whatever they have to do to become Guardians. They all looked at the limousine when it approached. The entire realm watching became excited, they knew it was the leaders of the Order of the Guardian of Equilibrium.
The whole realm is crazy about them but it’s rare to see them in public, most people watched to see the twins since they know that the chances of any participants becoming Guardian is low. Shaotian walked out of the car first, he gave his hand to someone inside and everyone looked as a small hand grabbed it. Eden came out of the car smiling at Shaotian. When Shaoren came out he held Eden’s other hand and they walked to the candidates.
Most people watching weren’t surprised to see the twins holding Eden’s hands. They all saw how he stood before them to protect them even if he is just a Nexus. They all fell in love with him for that. Shaotian said:
"Welcome to the 60th edition of The GE Trial. You know the rules, the last participants standing once all the Haywire Nexus and sorcerers die will become Guardians. You’re allowed to use any magical tools or potions you’ve brought."
Shaoren explained:
"If any of you feel overwhelmed just call for help and the Guardians on standby will be there immediately. If a situation is out of control we will be there too. Once you find shelter for the night a Guardian will come to seal it to make sure you’re safe for the night. The seal will be automatically gone in 8 hours."
Everyone was surprised when Eden asked:
"Are the cameras on during the night?"
Shaotian answered:
"The cameras are turned off the second you are sealed for the night."
Eden nodded.
Everyone felt like it was a good question besides Minglan who was starring daggers at Eden. She doesn’t understand why everyone is so in love with him including the twins. They’ve been in love with her since they were kids but they never made a move on her, but here they are holding Eden’s hand and bringing him to The GE Trial. They’re even letting him ask a question. Plus she couldn’t understand why he didn’t dress properly, the twins were both wearing suits while he was wearing clothes to work out in. If he had a backpack on she would think that he was one of the participants.
A 3d countdown appeared in the air. Shaoren said:
"Once the countdown reach zero the seal will be down and you’ll have 10 seconds once it’s up again. If you fail to enter you’ll be out so get ready."
All the participants turned around facing the forest. Once one of the cameras inside was on them the camera crew left.
Shaotian pulled Eden in his arms. Eden looked at him with a reassuring smile, even if they know he’ll be safe they can’t help but worry. He gave him a peck.
"I’ll see you tomorrow."
Shaotian nodded. He let go of Eden and he hugged Shaoren, he gave him a peck as well promising the same.
"You have everything you need?"
Eden nodded.
"I do don’t worry."
Once the seal was up everyone hurried inside, Eden walked behind them in silence. They turned around when the seal went down, but once they did they just looked at Eden wide-eyed. The realm was just as shocked as they were. Minglan and Tianlin looked at each other, if Eden dies in that forest they won’t be able to use him like a bomb. She whispered something in Tianlin’s ear and they seem to agree. She asked calmly despite her frustration:
"Eden, what are you doing here?"
"I’m a candidate too I signed up."
Minglan looked at him stunned, she looked out of the seal. When she saw the twins getting into the limo and leaving she knew it was true.
Tianlin couldn’t contain his anger.
"Eden this isn’t a joke, there’s Haywire Nexus and Sorcerers in every corner of this dark forest. It’s everyone for themselves do you think someone will sacrifice themselves for you?"
Minglan nudged Tianlin, when he looked into her eyes he calmed down. All the participants decided to leave in case their sound drew Haywire Nexus and they’re stacked against the seal.
Eden walked in ignoring Tianlin and Minglan. They walked after him and Minglan proposed:
"How about the three of us work as a team?"
His back to her Eden answered:
"I’m good."
The entire realm felt like Minglan and Tianlin were genuinely worried about Eden and that he was being unreasonable.
Tianlin was about to say something but they all stopped when a Haywire Nexus appeared with three sorcerers. The Nexus smiled at Eden after smelling the air.
"You’re a Nexus like me. Join my side and we’ll rule the realm together."
He offered his hand to Eden but he only looked at him with an amused smile.
"If I join you I’ll have to rule the realm with you whereas if I kill you it will be all mine."
Hearing Eden the viewers felt a little better, they don’t want him to die. Even a Guardian can’t take care of a Haywire Nexus and three sorcerers let alone a Nexus.
Tianlin warned:
"Eden don’t move Minglan and I will deal with them."
The Haywire Nexus narrowed his eyes at him. He looked at one of the sorcerers and ordered:
"Deal with that small Nexus first."
When the sorcerer approached Eden with a bloodthirsty smile Tianlin took a step forward but he stopped when Eden tossed a necklace at him.
The viewers couldn’t understand how Eden ever thought he could deal with a sorcerer using a necklace. They were surprised when the necklace attached itself to the sorcerer’s neck on his own, a couple of seconds later their surprise turned to astonishment when his head exploded. The other sorcerers and the Haywire Nexus were just as startled. He yelled at his sorcerers:
"Kill him!"
They both stood at Eden’s side a ball of fire hovering above their hands. one of them said:
"Your luck has come to its end."
They both tossed the fireball but Eden ducked and they ended up hitting each other.
Eden stood up meeting the furious Haywire Nexus’ eyes.
"You should choose your sorcerers better."
Seeing that behind Eden they were three more magicians he decided to run away and come back with other sorcerers. He ran away but he became paralyzed once Eden threw a knife at him. He stood before him with a mocking smile. The nexus became relieved when he saw two sorcerers approach with Eden having his back to them. Once the sorcerers were close the viewers watched as a sword appeared out of thin air in Edens’s hand.
Upon closer inspection, they realized that the bracelet he was wearing was actually a sword. Eden turned around cutting the two lightning bolts the sorcerers had aimed at him. They all looked at his sword shocked, how powerful is his magical weapon to be able to cut lighting strikes? Eden’s swords disappeared and he launch two knives at them. Once it hit them they turned into ice statues. The Nexus looked at Eden horrified and asked:
"Who are you?"
Eden kicked both statues and they fell breaking into hundred pieces. He turned around facing the Nexus.
"I told you I’m the ruler of this realm you just didn’t believe me."
The Nexus looked at him wide-eyed realizing when he smelled him again:
"You’re the Pr..."
Before he finished Eden cut his head. Once he was done he looked at Minglan and Tianlin who were just as stunned as the realm.
"Don’t follow me I don’t need your help."
He walked away disappearing into the trees.
Minglan and Tianlin looked at each other. No wonder Eden was cocky, the twins made him powerful magic weapons. That’s what the entire realm thought too, they did feel relieved knowing that he wouldn’t die in that dark forest. Minglan and Tianlin felt the same, at least now they won’t need to worry. They walked the other way feeling relieved that their plan isn’t ruined.
Huang who was watching from the studio smirked. He underestimated the impact Eden would have on the twins. They even forged powerful magical weapons for him. He’s a Guardian he knows that it must’ve taken them days and a lot of power to do it. He thought the twins were more dangerous than Eden but he was wrong. He narrowed his eyes on a screen where Eden could be seen fighting easily two sorcerers. Tomorrow will be your last day in this world.
