Chapter 218: Magic / 6.5 : This immortal deigned to visit mortals
Atlas kept tossing and turning unable to sleep. He opened his eyes and sighed. How is it possible that having had the best lives makes this whole thing more difficult?
Before when he would meet Er-Ge in every universe and they would have to start over again he was never bothered by it but now he is. Weirdly he didn’t mind getting to know him again and having memories while he didn’t.
He was planning to end his life in the end and Er-Ge not remembering made things easier but now he is bothered. He had a baby with that man but he still dares to judge him and defend Bei Yan when he is the reason he has to stay here.
He would like to go back to the imperial city with them but he isn’t strong enough yet and since he had to repair his nucleus he can’t cheat. He has to take the time and cultivate.
He thought it would be easier to focus constantly and not be bothered if he stayed here and he was right. He only needs to cultivate a few more months then he’ll be the strongest in this universe.
The twins should’ve asked him if he had any reasons for staying here instead of just making assumptions. To them, Atlas would prefer to live in this cave instead of helping people with his gift.
Being a mage is extremely hard that’s why people worship them. This is the reason Bei Yan had him killed and was so desperate to become stronger.
Atlas’ name was known everywhere because he was more advanced and powerful than anyone. Bei Yan wanted everyone to worship him instead while Atlas only worked hard to help his family and people in need.
To the twins Atlas is wasting his gift by staying here. They should’ve just asked and he can’t help but feel upset. And there isn’t just one of them there are two of his Er-Ge and they’re both being jerks.
They dare compare him to Bei Yan when they are in this situation because of him. He didn’t look in detail at how close their relationship is but it’s clear that they feel protective of him.
Atlas felt like crying. He decided in the previous universe that when he is free he’ll spend eternity with Caspian but his Er-Ge is being a jerk right now and it upsets him more than it would previously.
Because his feeling grew and he knows he can’t be without this person. Usually, he wouldn’t be touched and he would just make him pay but this time he is. Atlas closed his eyes and fell asleep an hour later.
Yitian turned his head and looked at his brother.
"Do you think he is asleep?"
Yujin had his eyes closed but he answered:
"Even if he isn’t we should let him be. Let’s just rest tomorrow is going to be a long day."
Yitian thought and asked:
"Do you think he’ll change his mind tomorrow?"
"He won’t I’m sure of it."
Yitian sighed and he closed his eyes. In the morning the twins saw breakfast on the table ready for them. Yitian went to look for beloved in his bedroom but he wasn’t there.
He took a seat in front of Yujin and started to eat. Yujin looked at his brother’s sad face then he grabbed a paper and a pen. He wrote down something and pushed the paper toward Yitian so he could read it.
After reading it Yitian immediately looked up.
"What if he doesn’t?"
"If he doesn’t come willingly we’ll come to get him back. We’ll only give him a year."
Yitian’s eyes lit up and he nodded. Yujin smiled and they finished eating. When they were done they waited a few minutes hoping beloved would be back but he wasn’t.
They left and after following the map they left beast valley without encountering any beasts as beloved had said. At the entry was a carriage with soldiers and guards.
Yitian and Yujin both mounted a horse wanting to get back home as fast as possible.
Atlas entered his cave and after closing and sealing it he walked to his bedroom. He saw a paper on the bed and a broach.
He looked at the golden broach and then read the paper.
"Thank you for saving and sheltering us for the night. Not only that but you gave us a priceless life elixir and a map to get out of this valley alive. We left you this golden broach we share hoping you would come to the imperial city to give it back. If you do all you would have to do is go to Daduzi and tell them you want to eat a golden goose and wait then someone we’ll bring you to us. Thank you for everything beloved."
Atlas scrunched the paper and tossed it on the floor. Those jerks didn’t even apologize. Despite tossing the paper he put the golden broach in his hair and resumed cultivating.
Bei Yan looked at himself in the bronze mirror. He had on white robes with a gold belt. His long hair was cascading on his back and he looked beautiful. He wants everyone to look at him today during the feast including the twins.
He feels that if they are seduced then their relationship will finally change. Even if it’s been a while he feels like the twins still hold a grudge against him for forgetting that bashees hibernate the time they left for beast valley.
Of course, he didn’t forget he just needed them to be far away so he could poison the emperor. He doesn’t even understand how they found that out. Maybe one of the mages might’ve told them when they were there.
It took a month for things to go back to the way it was but at least now things are better than they were before and he is pleased. When the emperor died Yitian changed.
Yujin was still his usual open but ruthless inside but Yitian became the person everyone thought he was. Despite his arrogance Yitian was sensitive but now he is just like Yujin except that he never smiles.
He’s always cold and the entire empire fear and worships him. He is a good emperor so the empire loves him. He had doubts about how he would do once he become emperor but it seems like he was wrong to doubt him.
If it’s possible he and Yujin are even closer which angers him. He wants to be in the middle of them and have them love him as much as they love their twin. Once he sees his seductive look today they’ll see him as more than a little brother.
He doesn’t want to be their little brother he wants to be their lover.
"Yan’er let’s go or we’ll be late."
Bei Yan walked out of his bedroom and got in the carriage with his father.
Once they arrived at the imperial palace a guard opened the carriage door and they got down. When they entered the hall everyone looked at Bei Yan. He was extremely pleased but he put on a humble face as they walked to the thrones.
Bei Yan and Bei Huang bowed to the emperor and the great general and said:
"Your majesty, great general."
The twins nodded and they looked at Bei Yan.
They can tell that he dressed this way for them but they’re never going to see him as more than a brother. If they would’ve never met their beloved perhaps but they did and they won’t rest until he is theirs.
Yujin smiled.
"You look beautiful Yan’er."
Yan blushed and he murmured:
"Thank you great general."
The entire room looked at the emperor thinking he would say something too but he never did. Yan and Huang went to take a seat at their table.
On the other side of the aisle just so happened to be Sheng Zihang and his daughter Sheng Yun. They both nodded respectfully and so did Zihang and Yun.
ZIhang knows full well they’re after him but he doesn’t mind pretending. He still has the majority on his side but since the emperor passed he is losing allies left and right.
Since Yan is a mage and close to the twins people don’t dare to not follow Huang’s orders but he’ll never give up. People might be blind to their motives but he isn’t and he won’t let them destroy what the late emperor worked so hard on.
A few seconds after the doors were closed they were opened again. Everyone looked toward it to see who was bold enough to be late. As soon as they did they felt like they were looking at a deity.
The most beautiful man they had ever laid eyes on walked to the throne. He had long dark hair and enchanting blue eyes. His hair was cascading behind his back and he had a bun with a gold broach on his head.
The gold broached matched his belt that highlighted his small waist and the intricate gold flowers that were on his white robes.
Not only was he beautiful but the robes he was wearing were rich like they came straight out of the emperor’s treasure. They felt like only someone with royal blood would be able to afford these types of clothes.
They were sure he was because everything about him seemed majestic. Whether his aura or the way he held his head high like everyone around him was beneath him.
The entire hall felt like they were. They believed that he was an immortal who deigned to visit them mortals just so they could feast on his beauty.
Bei Yan looked at the man who had just entered furiously. He thought that everyone was enchanted by him when he entered but compared to this person he was wrong.
The way he dressed was similar to his but his robes were richer and more expensive. They were also golden flowers patterned on them. Compared to him his robes are ridiculous.
His hands tightened into fists. It’s like he dressed the same way just to humiliate him and show how much better he looks than him. Who is that man and why would the guard let him come in when he wasn’t invited?
