Chapter 193: ABO / 5.4 : Rebellious

After working all day Atlas sent the game Extinct to production. He’s glad he’s done with that so now he can fully focus on his new projects. He cleared his computer and left.

Once he arrived home he immediately went to his room and after linking Versem to his computer he got to work. He already knows what he wants to do and with Versem at his side, he’ll be done in a few days.

Elwyn walked down the stairs and went to the dining room. He smiled at his father and mother and took a seat on his father’s right. He looked around and asked:

"Where’s Atlas?"

Ludek stood up and said:

"I’ll go check."

He walked up the stairs unsure. He hasn’t seen Atlas since yesterday and he didn’t sleep at home. He knows that he was in love with Jacob so he needs to make sure he isn’t upset since they need him.

He knocked but when he didn’t hear anything he entered. He saw that Atlas was typing on his computer with a plate of food next to him.

He walked to him with a smile and asked curiously:

"Are you working on something new now that you’re done with Extinct?"

Every time Atlas would lock himself in his bedroom working even after he came back from work it would mean he had a new idea for a game. Every single time the game would be a massive success and bring the company millions.

When he reached Atlas he saw that he was coding. Since Atlas hadn’t answered him he called:

"Atlas?"

Atlas stopped and looked at him. He smiled and asked:

"Are you working on something new?"

"I am."

He sat in front of him and asked excitedly:

"What is it?"

Atlas talked to him about the game Universum with the headset and the controllers. Ludek asked:

"Have you figured out the technology for the VR headset?"

Atlas answered:

"I have. I used all my paycheck to buy all the materials I would need and after trial and error I finally figured it out." 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Ludek looked at Atlas with shiny eyes. All the video games company have been working hard to figure out the technology to make usable headsets and his son did! They are ahead of everyone and their headset will fly off the shelves.

He asked:

"Is the game you created to use with it done?"

Atlas shook his head.

"Since all my paychecks went to the headset I had to wait until I received this month’s salary to resume working on Universum."

Ludek asked:

"Why wouldn’t you ask me to give you funds from the company instead of using your salary?"

If he would’ve asked he might’ve been done already and they could start production. Atlas just shook his shoulder and looked at his computer. Ludek couldn’t feel happier if he tried.

He’s been feeling stressed because of the board of directors. They want Atlas to stay the heir but it wouldn’t be fair to Elwyn. Atlas will still do everything he does and Elwyn will be his boss it’s only fair.

Thinking about the next meeting he asked:

"Have you done what I asked you?"

"Do what?"

When Atlas looked up he said:

"Write the presentation for Extinct and teach it to Elwyn."

"No."

He frowned and asked:

"Why? I told you the meeting is next week."

"I’m busy he can do it himself."

Once he said that Atlas resumed coding. Ludek narrowed his eyes and said:

"Atlas I told you to write it because Elwyn can’t he’s new to this world."

Atlas stopped and said:

"Ludek If you expect me to do everything I did when I was the heir while Elwyn holds the title you’ll only be disappointed."

Ludek looked at Atlas stunned, not only did he call him by his name but he refused his order. Every time he would ask Atlas to do something he would because he was scared they might abandon him since they’re not his parents.

Ludek decided to use another way and said:

"Atlas you know that I had no choice. The contract that I had with Damian was ironclad."

Atlas leaned back on his chair and said:

"Then make us co-president. That way you wouldn’t be breaking your contract with Damian and I would have credit for my hard work instead of letting someone who knows nothing about it take it."

Ludek opened his mouth to refute with an explication but nothing came out. It would indeed work but Elwyn shouldn’t have to share the president’s chair when it’s rightfully his.

He is a Nye contrary to Atlas so he’s not going to do that. After a few seconds he said:

"It wouldn’t be fair."

"Why?"

Ludek said:

"You know that the company is handed to Nye from generation to generation."

Atlas raised an eyebrow.

"Weren’t you the one who said that I was a Nye no matter what? Are you saying now that I’m not good enough?"

Ludek smiled and said:

"Of course not you know that you’re part of the family."

He said:

"I know that you’re upset about Jacob and Elwyn being engaged but it isn’t Elwyn’s fault."

He’s sure he’s only acting this way because of what happened yesterday. Atlas sneered:

"Do you think this is about Jacob? Have you seen me? I’m a genius I deserve better than him. Elwyn can keep him I wouldn’t take him even if it came back with a receipt."

Ludek looked at the disdain on Atlas’s face and was stunned. He smiled thinking about his new project and said:

"I’m glad you moved on from him you’re right you deserve better."

"I know."

Atlas asked:

"Do you need something else I want to work in peace?"

"I told you I just need you to write the presentation and help Elwyn."

When Atlas narrowed his eyes Ludek was stunned.

"Do you even listen to me when we have a conversation Ludek? I told you I’m not going to do everything I did before and let your son take credit for it. If he wants to be the heir it’s fine but he’ll have to do the work that goes with it on his own."

Ludek said:

"You’re the one who created the game you know it better than anyone."

"Then he better familiarize himself with it before the meeting next week."

Atlas grabbed the headset that was on his side and put it on his head. Ludek could hear the music blasting out of it and it was clear that Atlas was done speaking.

He stood up and left the room. After closing the door his hands tightened into fists. He’s given Atlas a life anyone would dream of when he isn’t even his son and this is how he thanks him? If Atlas wants to act rebellious he’ll regret it.
