Chapter 171: Interstellar / 3.15 : The delusional
Atlas woke up and looked at the hour. He wasn’t surprised when he saw that it was the morning. He opened his eyes and looked at Kalel. He caressed his cheek with soft eyes.
He feels complicated. In the previous universe, he already felt that he was falling for Er-Ge faster but he didn’t realize how much more intense his feelings became.
Seeing Kalel bleeding out on the ground triggered him. Atlas loves him so much and just the thought of losing Er-Ge now petrifies him.
It isn’t something that just happened his feelings grew as time passed. Those past few days he couldn’t even sleep and the twins not being there for him when he had a nightmare really hurt him.
He wouldn’t feel this way if he didn’t love this person more than he thought he did. Atlas decided in the previous universe that he would feel the way he does but it’s starting to worry him.
He doesn’t want Er-Ge to sway him in his decision to end his life when he is free. Atlas believes that he would do anything for him and that he can’t be without him.
He feels the same but he doesn’t want his feelings to change to the point where he gives up on his ultimate goal. He needs to focus on the universe ahead then he’ll deal with Er-Ge if he ever meets the real him.
Kalel opened his eyes and looked at Atlas. Atlas gazed into his eyes, they were a shade darker than usual and he knew that Er-Ge was worried.
He sat up and so did the twins. Kalel asked:
"Are you okay?"
Atlas looked at them then down and murmured:
"I haven’t been able to sleep since the night I slept alone at my house. I couldn’t sleep without you."
Klay caressed his head. He promised:
"We told you we won’t leave your side."
Atlas looked at them then away again.
"I’m sorry I didn’t mean to scare or hurt you."
Atlas looked at Kalel.
"I just couldn’t bear the thought of anything happening to you. I would rather die than be without you and Klay."
Atlas looked at Klay when he said:
"Me too."
He wishes he could understand that feeling but he doesn’t and never wants to. Seeing Kalel bleeding to death was the worst feeling he ever had but he didn’t want to die.
At least he doesn’t think he did. He knew he would be able to save him but if he wasn’t able to would he have felt different? He doesn’t know and he doesn’t want to know the answer to that question.
Atlas said:
"All I know is that I never felt the amount of pain I did when I saw you lying on the ground bleeding to death. I don’t... I can’t see you like that ever again so you need to trust me when I say I have things under control. Unless you don’t trust me."
Kalel laced their hands.
"Of course we do."
"Then why did you feel the need to come?"
Kalel looked at Klay and he nodded.
"We were scared something might happen to you and we might never have the chance to tell you how we feel about you."
Atlas asked:
"How do you feel about me?"
Klay moved closer so they were both facing Atlas. Kalel said:
"We’re in love with you. We’ve been in love with you since the pirate ship but we didn’t dare to confess."
Klay said:
"We knew that you still held resentment because of the past so we came up with the idea of the bet but that’s not what we want. We want to be in a real relationship with you. We love you Atlas."
Atlas looked into their worried eyes. He kissed Kalel and then Klay.
"I love you too Gege."
The twins let out a breath. Kalel asked stunned:
"You do?"
"I do my loves."
The twins pulled Atlas in their arms. Atlas hugged them back with a smile. Of course, he loves them. He loves Er-Ge more and more with each universe he passes.
No matter how scary it is he’s just trying to keep his eyes closed and worry about what might happen when he is finally free but it’s hard.
After showering and dressing they left for the cafeteria for breakfast. As they walked in everyone looked at them. The twins were holding Atlas’ hands and they immediately knew that they were back together.
They were already rumors about them being together and then breaking up. Atlas looked around and said:
"Let’s sit with Damian."
"Have a seat we’ll bring the food."
Atlas nodded at Klay and left to sit with Damian. Atlas took a seat in front of him and smiled.
Damian smiled.
"Hey."
"Hey."
Damian asked:
"Are you feeling better? I was worried when you didn’t have dinner last night but then I saw that the twins weren’t there either so I figured you were together."
Atlas said:
"I haven’t been able to sleep those past few days and after we spoke I fell asleep."
Damian felt relieved hearing that. He told Atlas he should take something to sleep but he was against it.
Damian asked:
"Have you guys settled the issue?"
"We did. I just need them to listen to me and trust me when I say I have things under control."
Damian nodded and said:
"Their actions were reasonable and you know you would’ve done the same."
The twins who were arriving felt happy to hear Damian say that. Even if they were worried about his relationship with Atlas they know now that there’s nothing between them.
They want to get along with him since he is Atlas’ best friend. The twins sat at Atlas’ left and right and said at the same time to Damian:
"Hey."
Damian smiled and said:
"Hey."
They ate while discussing in a good mood. Klay asked Damian:
"Was your father okay with you going on the mission?"
"Not really but he knew that no matter what he said I was going to go."
Atlas’ eyes softened as he looked at Klay. He knows that the twins are trying for him and it makes him happy. His Gege is the most jealous man in the multiverse. Klay who felt Atlas’ eyes held his chin and kissed him tenderly.
Atlas pulled back with a smile. He kissed Kalel and resumed eating. When he felt angry eyes on him he looked at Evander and waved at him. Evander waved back with a smile and resumed eating.
The hand he had under the table tightened into a fist. He can’t believe he is with the twins. Atlas said that he wasn’t interested in them but it was a lie. It’s fine tomorrow he’ll die.
He feels grateful he managed to get the spray before his father died. Soon the world will be his oyster.
Kalel looked at Atlas and asked:
"You know that the general of the army arrives this afternoon."
Atlas nodded.
Kalel asked:
"Will you have dinner with us and our father?"
Atlas looked at Kalel then Klay. He looked at Kalel again then sat on his lap.
He asked:
"Why do you look nervous?"
Do they think he doesn’t like their father or do they think he blames him for taking his father’s position again?
Kalel said:
"We’ve never introduced him to the person we love and he thought that you were upset with him the last time you saw him."
Atlas raised an eyebrow.
"Didn’t you introduce Evander to him?"
Kalel and Klay immediately became uncomfortable while Damian smiled and his eyes flashed in amusement.
He certainly loves Atlas’ bluntness. Kalel said:
"We only introduced him as our friend, nothing has ever happened with him."
Atlas knows that and that’s the only reason those two aren’t ten feet under.
He said:
"I’ll have dinner with you."
Kalel smiled and his eyes turned a few shades lighter. Atlas’ eyes softened and he gave him a peck.
Atlas spent the afternoon training in the simulation room. As soon as he walked out he came face to face with someone. Evander smiled.
"Hey, can we talk?"
Atlas nodded and waited for him to speak. Evander asked:
"Are you and the twins together as more than friends?"
Atlas nodded.
Evander waited for more explanation but Atlas didn’t seem like he was about to elaborate. He asked:
"I thought they weren’t your type?"
Atlas simply said:
"Changed my mind."
Evander asked:
"What made you?"
Atlas said:
"I believed that they were somewhat tarnished seeing that they had a crush on you but it seems like you were nothing more than a game to them so I was able to let it go and accept their confession. Plus who can resist when two sexy alpha males tell you how much they love you?"
Evander looked at Atlas with red eyes. He asked through clenched teeth:
"What do you mean a game?"
"Since at the time most people wanted you they bet that they would be the one to have you."
Evander said in anger:
"That’s not true I know that they were in love with me."
"How did they introduce you to their father? As a friend or partner?"
Evander opened his mouth but nothing came out. They indeed introduced him as a friend but he’s the one who didn’t want to make things official. They couldn’t even spend time together because Atlas followed him everywhere.
Except for kissing a few times they weren’t able to do anything else. They’ve never tried to get something more out of him or said that they loved him but they moved in with Atlas and confessed their love.
Was he really just a game to the twins? Evander felt his heart clench and his eyes moistened. Atlas looked at him expressionlessly. The twins had feelings for Evander, Atlas just wants to torture him before he dies.
Atlas asked annoyed:
"Why are you crying? You didn’t believe that they actually loved you right?"
Evander looked up and a few tears ran down his face. How can Atlas be this cruel when he just found out that the person he loves never cared for him and he was just entertainment?
Atlas said:
"Evander you really need to have a good look in the mirror and realize what you’re actually worth. You’ll never be with someone like me or them when your family was only fishermen. You’re not good enough for us so aim lower or you’ll always be disappointed. You need to stop being delusional."
After saying that Atlas left like he hadn’t just insulted him. Evander’s sadness turned into rage. How did he never know how elitist Atlas was? Once he inherits everything from him no one will look down on him ever again.
