Chapter 169: Interstellar / 3.13 : Stay away
The twins felt weird waking up without Atlas between them. They hate that they weren’t able to hold him in their arms after he had a nightmare.
He said that he had nightmares but they had no idea how bad it was. Whatever happened to him is still very much with him.
The twins showered and left for the dining room. When they entered they saw the food on the table but Atlas was nowhere to be seen.
Kalel sat down and filled his plate upset. Klay filled his plate and looked at Kalel. He can tell how sad and disappointed he is and he understands since he feels the same.
Klay said:
"Let’s talk to him tonight and ask him to give us a chance and to use the time we have left on the bet to see what it would be like to really be together."
Kalel’s eyes immediately lit up and he smiled.
"Okay."
Klay said:
"That means we need to make sure that nothing happens to him."
Kalel looked at Klay unsure.
He said:
"You heard Atlas he won’t forgive us if we show up even to help him."
"Will you be able to forgive yourself if something were to happen to him?"
Kalel answered:
"Of course not I love him"
Klay said:
"Then let’s make sure everything goes well, we’ll just hide and only intervene if he needs us."
After a few seconds, Kalel nodded.
Micah looked around the filled auditorium with a smile. He received a text from the administration and he knows that Atlas and Damian are there.
He already put the bomb in their ship now all the pirates have to do is knock them out and then fly away with them. It’s four against two so it should be fine.
When Evander who was sitting in the front row turned around he smiled at him and he smiled back.
Evander felt slightly nervous. He’s been feeling unsure about letting Atlas die, he just wishes he was still in love with him before he did.
At least the twins will be his and he and his father will be wealthy. As he thought about the twins he looked around searching for them but before he could find them the lights were dimmed and the speaker walked the stage.
Klay whispered:
"They’re coming out."
They looked at Atlas and Damian walking out. They were discussing and laughing. The twins watched as four men wearing the academy uniforms walked behind them.
One of them pulled out a syringe and aimed it toward Atlas’ back. They were about to come out of their hiding place when Atlas ducked and he and Damian started to fight with them.
Atlas managed to get the syringe and injected the man. He passed out and Atlas looked at Damian.
He was fighting with a man but it seemed like he got it under control. He focused on the two men in front of him. He fought with them and after giving a right hook to one of them dealt with the last one.
The twins looked at the scene and saw that they didn’t have to worry. Kalel’s heartbeat quickened when he saw the man Atlas had given a right hook to wake up and pull out a blaster.
He ran to him and screamed:
"Atlas behind you."
The man was so startled by that sound coming out of nowhere that he turned and fired.
The shot hit Kalel in his heart and he immediately started to bleed. He almost fell backward but Klay held him. He put pressure on the bullet wound.
Atlas knocked out the man in front of him and grabbed the blaster out of the man’s hand. He shot the four men and ran to Kalel.
He felt frozen in shock when he saw the amount of blood he was losing. He pulled out a vial from his pocket and poured it down his throat.
Kalel fought to stay awake and weakly asked Atlas:
"Are you okay?"
"I am."
After hearing that Kalel fell asleep like he finally felt peace. Atlas ordered Klay:
"Take him to a healing pod."
Atlas stood up and after checking the corpses he grabbed all their cellphone. At that moment, Micah arrived to make sure everything went as planned.
When Micah saw Kalel lying on the ground bleeding out he ran and asked after looking at the four pirates’ dead bodies.
Atlas who had just taken that last phone stood up and wrapped his hand around Micah’s neck. He held his neck so tightly that he couldn’t breathe, Micah tried to get out of his hold but couldn’t.
He looked into Atlas’s eyes and only saw darkness, he felt like he was looking into the eyes of the devil.
"Atlas..."
Before he could finish Atlas dropped him to the ground and shot him in the head. Atlas turned around and looked at Damian.
"Can you take care of this mess I’ll be right back?"
Damian said reassuringly:
"Go I got it."
Atlas ran to Klay who was holding Kalel in his arms and left for the healing center. Atlas opened the pod and Klay put his brother down.
When he was in it Klay looked at the screen in fear after his body was scanned to see if he would be able to be saved.
When he saw that in a few hours he’ll be fine he looked at Atlas shocked. The only way Kalel was able to survive this is because of what Atlas gave him right after he was shot.
He swallowed with difficulty and let out a breath. He’s been staying calm but just the thought of losing his brother is imaginable.
Atlas looked at Kalel, he was asleep and looked so peaceful. He looked at his blood-filled clothes and the hole made by the blast.
He felt his hand tremble slightly and he looked at his hands. They were red, not even a white space could be seen.
Atlas’ eyes moistened and he felt his hands tremble uncontrollably. Klay looked at Atlas when he started to breathe louder than at his hands.
He pulled Atlas in his arms but he kept struggling. Despite that Klay held him tightly until Atlas finally stopped and burst out crying.
Klay caressed his back and closed his eyes, a few tears ran down his face. He knows how he feels because he feels the same.
After a few minutes, Atlas calmed down and left the room without looking back.
He arrived on the scene ten minutes later and everyone was already out of the auditorium wanting to see what happened.
Damian was talking to the authorities about what happened.
Atlas joined them and listened to Damian speak:
"Those four men aren’t students they were let in by someone but I don’t know who. They tried to abduct Atlas and me but when they saw that they couldn’t one of them pulled out a blaster. He shot Kalel and the general when he saw him coming. Atlas wrestled the blaster out of his hands and killed them all before taking Kalel to the healing center."
Atlas gave more information about what happened and gave the detective access to Micah’s office.
Evander ran to his father’s office and grabbed Atlas’ shirt. He said crying:
"Please tell me it isn’t true please tell me my father wasn’t killed."
Atlas looked at him sadly and murmured:
"I’m sorry the men were startled when they saw him approaching and the shot went out."
Evander hugged Atlas as he cried. Atlas tapped his back soothingly as he looked in the distance with cold eyes.
When the detective had enough information he looked at Evander crying and asked:
"How much did you know about your father?"
Evander pulled back from Atlas and after wiping his tears he asked:
"What do you mean?"
"Your father was the one who let those men in and they’re pirates."
Evander looked at the detective wide-eyed and then said crying:
"No that’s not possible my father wouldn’t do that."
Atlas looked at Evander with cold eyes, that little bitch certainly knows how to act. The detective grabbed all the evidence he would need and left.
Atlas was about to leave when Evander held his wrist. He asked teary-eyed:
"Can I stay with you tonight?"
Atlas said:
"You can’t."
He pulled back his hand and left. Evander looked at him go shocked, he just lost his father and he won’t even let him stay with him at his house.
Atlas sat next to Klay. Klay pulled Atlas in his embrace then looked at his brother. He asked:
"Is everything settled with the authorities?"
"En."
Klay looked at Atlas, he can feel that something is wrong with him. Atlas isn’t sharing how he feels and he fears the worst. He looked at the time remaining before Kalel woke up fully healed.
He doesn’t want him to wake up in two hours and have him be heartbroken. He already feels guilty about what happened. He should’ve been faster and taken that shot for him.
Kalel is his little brother even if it’s only two minutes and he should’ve protected him. He held Atlas tighter for the next two hours.
When they saw that only a couple of seconds were left they both stood up and looked at Kalel.
Kalel slowly opened his eyes and saw that he was in a healing pod. He touched his chest and saw that he was completely healed.
How is that possible he should’ve died? When he thought about Atlas giving him something to drink he immediately tried to open the pod to make sure he is okay.
Before he could it was opened from the outside. He looked at his brother and after sitting up he hugged him and Klay held him tightly. He murmured:
"I’m sorry I should’ve protected you better."
Kalel caressed his back and said:
"It was my choice and if I had to do it again I would."
He pulled back and smiled at his brother. Klay smiled back feeling relieved that he didn’t resent him.
Kalel turned his head and looked at Atlas. He pulled him on his lap and caressed his cheek.
"Are you okay?"
Atlas nodded. When a tear ran down his face Kalel wiped it then hugged him. Atlas held him tightly for a long time. He checked Versem then pulled back and stood up.
He looked at the twins and said:
"From now on stay away from me and don’t come to my house. Someone has already sent all your belongings to your dorm."
The twins looked at Atlas stunned. Kalel stood up and was about to speak when he heard someone enter and asked in fear:
"Kalel are you okay?"
Atlas used that opportunity to leave. He smiled at Cassian then left but he held his wrist. He pulled him in his arms and said:
"Thank you for saving my son I’m eternally grateful."
Atlas hugged him back and said:
"It was nothing."
Cassian pulled back and said:
"It wasn’t. Thank you."
"You’re welcome. I have to go."
Before Cassian could say anything he disappeared. Cassian frowned then looked at his sons.
