Chapter 159: Interstellar / 3.3 : Parasite host
The twins kept pacing in their quarters. Kalel stopped and looked at the hour. When he saw that in five minutes they’ll be able to go out without being seen he looked at his brother.
Klay stopped and looked back, he passed a hand through his hair frustrated.
"We told him the plan he’s the one who insisted on going there."
Kalel said:
"I know but we can’t let him die here."
When Klay didn’t answer Kalel took a step forward and said angrily:
"You know you can’t!"
Klay yelled:
"I can’t but if we get there and Damian warns everyone before we deal with him he’ll put the entire ship on lockdown and the three of us will perish."
If they take the risk of trying to get Atlas back before leaving they might not be able to flee before this entire ship explodes because they know they won’t find the bombs. They only have 35 minutes before the nitro bomb detonates. Once they do they’ll die in a matter of seconds.
Kalel took a seat on the chair and looked down. If it was before and they would’ve left Atlas to die on that ship with the pirates they would’ve only felt the guilt you feel when you lose a comrade in arms but since his torture, something’s changed.
When they saw him with his eyes closed frowning like he wasn’t being tortured but having a bad dream their feelings changed. They’ve seen other soldiers being tortured and it never got to them because they knew that in the long term they would be able to save way more lives.
But this annoyance they felt for Atlas for loving the same person they do is gone and it was replaced by this worry and fear of losing him like he is theirs. Kalel looked at Klay when he said:
"If you’re in to try I am too."
He stood up and hugged his brother, Klay hugged him back. When the entire ship went on power save mode they walked out of their quarters. The pirates have been hiding in the Madras Quadran because they know how difficult it is to get there.
There’s debris on the way so it’s impossible to use hyperspeed. It makes the trip there incredibly long and the place the ship is stationed is surrounded by lunar flares and they feed on electricity so at night everything has to be shut down to save energy. The twins knew it would be the best way to leave.
They pulled out their blaster when they reached the captain’s quarters and entered. They closed the door behind them silently and walked to the bedroom. They immediately saw Atlas on top of Damian straddling him.
The doors of the bedroom were made of glass so the inside was visible. Klay and Kalel opened the door furiously and Klay yelled:
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
Seeing that Damian was on the bottom they walked to the side of the bed to point their blaster at his face.
They froze when they saw that Atlas was holding a tablet in his head linked to the electrodes on Damian’s head. Not only that but the captain was unconscious. Atlas said still tapping on his tablet:
"Didn’t I tell you to leave when it’s time for you to go?"
Kalel said:
"Since he is knocked out let’s just kill him and go."
"I’m not leaving without Damian."
Klay and Kalel’s eyes darken and Klay yelled again:
"Don’t tell me you fuckin fell in love with him and you want to bring that traitor back to Traetis?"
Atlas looked at him with cold eyes and said:
"Don’t call him a traitor Damian would never betray his people. The son of the previous captain is the one who has control of his body."
Atlas focused again.
Kalel asked stunned:
"You mean there’s two consciousness in him?"
"There is, Damian has been a spectator for a long time, and I’m not leaving until I’m sure I can bring him forth."
When Atlas finished he tapped a button and Damian’s body starter to seize. When the seizure was done he opened his eyes and looked at Atlas. He sat up and his eyes moistened.
"You knew."
Atlas looked back teary eyed and he nodded.
Damian hugged him tightly and Atlas hugged him back. Of course, he knew it wasn’t the real Damian. When Damian became the captain of the pirate everyone thought that he had betrayed his nation as the crown prince but Atlas knew that something had happened.
He’s known him for a long time and even when Damian was on a mission he would call him every day at 9 pm and if he couldn’t then he would text him to let him know he was okay.
When he went awol and reappeared as the captain of their enemy Atlas was sure it wasn’t him. He and Damian first met when his father was inaugurated at the palace for his bravery.
Atlas was young and bored at the dinner and Damian felt the same. They started to talk and they became close friends. Even if they wouldn’t see each other every day they spoke on the phone every night and he was also Atlas’ first kiss.
They have a brotherly relationship so it was easy to deduce that Damian’s body was taken over. Atlas pulled back and he wiped a tear that had fallen on Damian’s cheek. Damian did the same. Atlas said:
"Let’s go."
He was about to stand up but Damian held him in place.
"Atlas I can’t leave. I can still feel his consciousness with me it’s just asleep he’ll wake up I’m sure of it. Go and take this with you. All the information about their other base is in it. As soon as you’re far enough I’ll blow up this entire base."
Atlas held his arm tightly like he was scared he might disappear and said:
"I know what I did is only temporary because I don’t have enough time or all the equipment I need. We just have to reach the base then I’ll be able to get rid of him for good. I made sure we would have enough time to go back. The twins have already installed nitro bombs everywhere we can leave."
Damian asked:
"Are you sure?"
Atlas held him tighter and said:
"I am trust me."
Damian smiled gently.
"I do."
Atlas stood up and laced their hands. The twins led the way to the hangar and Atlas looked at the ships. He pointed at one.
"Let’s take this one."
Klay said:
"It will be easier to use a smaller ship with all the debris on the way."
Atlas said:
"No, we need hyperspeed."
"We can’t use it we’re bound to end up in shambles."
Damian pulled Atlas to the ship saying:
"Atlas can create a course and it’s always perfect to the millisecond. With it, I’ll be able to steer the ship even in hyperspeed."
The twin followed and they all entered the ship.
Atlas used the tablet and linked it to Versem. He made a few calculations and linked it to the ship. He opened the hangar after making sure only the power in the hangar was back on.
Once Damian could see the route appearing on the screen he looked at Klay:
"You can detonate the bombs."
As soon as Damian heard the first explosion the ship flew out of the hangar at lightning speed.
The twins looked at Damian steering the ship easily avoiding all the debris on the way impressed. No wonder the pirates wanted him. Once they were out of the danger zone Damian put the ship on autopilot. He looked at Atlas:
"Is everything gone?"
Atlas showed them the video surveillance of the ship just before it exploded. Once the first explosion went off some pirates woke up but before they could do something another explosion went off until nothing was left.
Damian stood up from the pilot sit and sat next to Atlas. He pulled him in his arms. Atlas held onto him and met his eyes when Damian asked:
"Did you believe in me?"
"Of course I did. As soon as you stopped calling me I knew that something happened."
Damian swallowed with difficulty. He knows that everyone in Traetis thinks he is a traitor, the captain would often show him all the cruel things people would say about him. Even if he couldn’t speak he could see and hear everything that was happening he just couldn’t move.
No one believed in him except his brother Atlas. He chuckled when Atlas said:
"When you were flirty with me it was confirmed since we both know you don’t have game."
He looked at him offended.
"I have game."
Atlas shook his head with a smile.
"You don’t but that’s okay beautiful people like us don’t need game. Our beauty speaks for itself."
Damian chuckled and held Atlas tighter.
"I missed you so much."
Atlas leaned his head on his chest.
"I missed you too."
Despite seeing Evander every day Atlas was closer to Damian. He was like family and it kills him that he suffered so much in the original timeline. He was never going to abandon him again.
When he looked into his eyes in the OG timeline he felt like it was someone else but he couldn’t do anything. When he told the twins that he is sure Damian had been taken over they didn’t believe him and they took him away.
The twins looked at the two with narrowed eyes.
