Chapter 109: Spirit Animal / 10.14 : The real guardian spirit
Eden walked the halls of the school holding Klay’s hand. He looked at his cellphone with the other with a bright smile. This is only the beginning of his family’s humiliation. Klay leaned in to see what he was looking at and smiled. He asked:
"Do you plan on moving to your father’s house?"
Eden thought.
"Maybe it will make me feel closer to be in the space he lived in for so long."
Klay pulled him in his arms. Eden smiled and gave him a peck. When they entered the classroom everyone looked at him but Eden is used to it by now. They can smell that they’re mates so they’re bound to look. Eden took a seat and looked at Jacob who was glancing at him with an amused smile.
"So that’s why you told me to go first."
Jacob chuckled when he saw how uncomfortable Eden was. He finds it funny that Eden acts proud when he is just as much a sucker for Klay.
It’s clear when you look at Klay that he loves Eden but most of the time it seems like Eden is indifferent. But Klay was able to convince Eden to bond with him just after he found out he and Jace are mates.
Eden looked at Jacob with narrowed eyes then at Klay who had a proud smile. He looked up when he saw Arya entering the classroom. He grabbed his cellphone and sent a text. All the cellphone in the class buzzed including Arya’s. When she saw what it was she looked at it wide-eyed. How was the news leaked already? It was a video of her and her parents being thrown out of Eden’s house.
When she looked at Eden she knew he was the one who shared the video with the entire school. She had to help her parents bring all their stuff into storage and then ran to school while they booked hotel rooms before they ran to the company. Her entire body trembled in anger and she walked to Eden furiously. She abruptly stopped when she smelled the air. She looked at Klay wide-eyed.
"Y-you bonded with him?"
The entire class listened, even if they smelled it too they didn’t dare to ask they know better. Klay answered:
"He’s my mate I finally wore him down and we’re getting married at the end of the month."
You could hear audible gasps when Klay announced his upcoming nuptials. They were all shocked beside Jacob. The day Klay felt that Eden was his mate he asked him to help him find an engagement ring. Klay is the kind of person who doesn’t feel much but when he does he never stops.
Eden looked at Klay and said:
"I don’t remember you proposing."
Klay smiled and after kissing his nose he said:
"Soon love."
Eden smiled his cheeks slightly flushed and his ears popped out, why is that man so cute? Klay smiled affectionately and his horn popped out. He leaned in and kissed Eden tenderly.
"I love you."
"I love you more my love."
Arya nearly choked on this dog food. She walked out of the classroom her head down. She could hear people chuckling and pointing at her. Arya never felt more humiliated in her life. She needs to lay low until the company is hers and they get the house back. As she got in her car she thought of something and her eyes lit up. Arya gave the driver an address and leaned back with a cruel smile.
Luna looked at the video and then closed the window. Eden did all of this on purpose to humiliate his family. She never met a more dysfunctional family then again her relationship with her husband was a nightmare. She picked up her cellphone when it rang. She simply said:
"Let her in."
When she was done she hang up and checked something.
"Enter."
Arya came in and stood in front of the chair.
"Hello, Mrs. Ryatt thank you for seeing me."
Luna didn’t look up and said:
"It’s fine, take a seat."
Arya took a seat and waited for her to be done.
When she finally looked up fifteen minutes later she asked expressionlessly:
"What can I do for you, Arya?"
Arya said:
"I just wanted your help to get a present for Klay you know him better than anyone."
Luna looked at her confused. Arya said with a happy smile:
"You know for him and Eden’s engagement."
When Luna’s eyes darkened Arya was over the moon.
"Klay asked Eden to marry him?"
"I think so he said that they are getting married at the end of the month."
Luna’s eyes turned fiery and her horns popped out. Arya could barely breathe because of her dark spirit animal. She stood up taking a few steps back.
Luna took a few deep breaths to calm down. Her horns disappeared and she ordered:
"Get out."
Arya immediately left, she already accomplished what she had to so there was no need to stay and have her head chopped out.
Luna tapped her fingers on the desk and she looked at her computer home screen. Klay looked back at her with a smile. Her only son dared to ask Eden to marry him, he’s dead.
Eden looked out the car window.
"We can park underground."
Eden looked at Klay.
"It’s fine I knew they were going to bring journalists into this."
Klay got down from the car first and opened the door for Eden. Eden took his hand and gave him a small kiss. He ignored the people screaming questions and the flashes. He looked up at the beautiful skyscraper his father had built with his hand.
He smiled and walked hand in hand with Klay after security pushed people out of the way. When they were in the elevator Eden said :
"Go join your mother first I need to check something."
Klay nodded and they both went their separate ways. Eden walked to a closed office and pulled out keys from his pocket then opened it. He entered and closed the door behind him. The place was dusty, it seemed like no one had set foot in that place for a long time.
Eden checked the files on the side then he sat behind the desk. As soon as he saw the picture near the computer his eyes moistened. He reached out for it and tears fell. He wiped the pictures until the dust was gone. He put it back and turned on the computer. He looked around and found thousand of reports about him. He swallowed with difficulty.
When he was at the orphanage every time something bad would happen to him it would be fixed. He had no idea why the people working there would do everything to help him and then secretly make his life a living hell. Turns out his father had someone who checked on him and every time they would abuse him he would deal with it so they started to abuse him secretly knowing that they were watched.
When Eden turned sixteen he was able to leave the orphanage and he was told that a benefactor decided to put him in a good school and that he would pay for all his needs. He was stunned but happy and worked hard so he wouldn’t disappoint whoever decided to help him. He would even work so he could save money to pay his savior back. It was hell at the orphanage so he was beyond grateful.
But turns out it was his father all along. He can’t stop thinking about the last conversation he had with Jace before he died. He said that he wished he was brave enough to not cower over tradition and people’s opinions. He regretted not raising his son and listening to his brother and sister who only cared about their daughter getting the company. He knew that he was the only one who was responsible and he felt the pain of not having Eden every day.
Eden stood up and left for the conference room after putting on his father’s watch he found in the drawer. When he entered the room he saw that all the shareholders were there including Luna. She was sitting at the end of the table next to Klay. Eden looked around but couldn’t see his aunt and uncle. Seems like they want to make an entrance. Eden took on the large seat usually reserved for the president where Bastian would seat. When Eden looked at Klay he immediately stood up and walked toward him.
He knelt and asked:
"Are you okay?"
Eden said:
"I am it’s just that..."
Eden sighed and said:
"All this time I thought I was alone but I wasn’t. Unlike Destry, my father was truly a spirit at my side helping and guiding me. He was there since the moment he found out about me and until he passed."
Even when he couldn’t leave his house he still looked out for him. Eden’s eyes flashed with pain and he murmured:
"I wish I had met him."
Klay felt heartbroken. He pulled Eden and after taking his seat he held him in his arms. He caressed his back. Eden closed his eyes and held onto him.
Luna looked at them. She never met two people who are more in their world than those two. She noticed that on the day of her birthday. it’s like they are unaware of the people around them and they are in their bubble.
When Eden heard a sound he opened his eyes and looked at his family enter. Klay stood up and went back to his seat. Arya and Alessa took a seat and Bastian walked to the head of the table. He ordered:
"Get up from my seat!"
