Chapter 101: Spirit Animal / 10.6 : Opening his eyes
Jace narrowed his eyes and asked:
"What’s your name?"
"Jacob Penn."
"You should stay out of it Jacob Penn."
Jacob sneered:
"Shouldn’t you stay out of it too?"
"I’m the detective in charge of this murder case."
Jacob said:
"You shouldn’t be. Do you think I don’t smell her on you? You clearly have a relationship with whoever gave you Eden’s name and it’s a conflict of interest. You’re biased and had already made up your mind before you came here or you wouldn’t have brought backup."
Jacob’s spirit animal is an ox, they are fair-minded and observant. They can tell you more about yourself than you can.
Jace looked at Jacob in silence. He looked at Eden who was standing at the side and ordered:
"Get in the car."
He walked around and sat behind the wheel without handcuffing him.
Eden was about to get in but he stopped and looked at Jacob.
"Thanks for your help and don’t say anything to Klay you know how impulsive he is."
He’s currently out of the country on a work trip and Eden doesn’t want him to fly back when he’s only going to spend a few minutes at the police station.
Jacob nodded.
"I’ll come to pick you up when you’re done."
"It’s fine I’ll fly home."
"Call me when you’re home."
Eden nodded with a smile and got in the car. Jacob looked at the car leave and met Jace’s eyes when he looked back at him.
When they arrived at the police station they entered an interrogation room and Eden took a seat. He leaned back on his chair waiting for Jace who was using a computer. He turned it around and played the security video from the bridge. Eden chuckled when Destry screamed as he fell to his death. Jace frowned and he closed the computer.
He said:
"Tell me what happened."
Eden met his eyes and asked:
"What’s the point?"
Jace said:
"Don’t you want people to know the truth?"
Eden burst out laughing.
"What truth? Everyone becomes blind when a hybrid is involved. They all believe I’m a freak of nature and that I’m retarded."
Jace promised:
"I don’t believe that you can talk to me."
Eden said angrily:
"You’re just like everybody else, no actually you’re worst. You were friends with my father yet you treat me this way. How can you not see how terrible Alessa and Bastian are? Why do you think my father left me everything? You’re supposed to have his back and by extension mine and see that Alessa is using you but here you are letting yourself be manipulated by that rat."
Jace looked at Edens stunned. How did he know he was friends with his father? Even if Res was 15 years his elder they were close. He indeed went to get Eden with a formed opinion and he knows that he was wrong. He’s known Alessa for years too and she was there for him during the worst time of his life but it isn’t fair to treat Eden the way he did just for that.
He knows that what Jacob said was the truth. Alessa has been venting to him since Res passed and he believed that it was the truth since he didn’t know any better it’s not like he had ever met Eden before today. He should’ve made more of an effort, he’s the son of his best friend after all.
He looked at Eden and said:
"I’m sorry."
Eden looked into his eyes and then away, Jace could tell that he was hurt and he felt even more guilty. He put a hand on his and said:
"I’m really sorry."
Eden looked at him and nodded. He knows that Jace isn’t a bad person that’s why he wants to open his eyes when it comes to Alessa’s real nature. Jace pulled back his hand and asked:
"Can you tell me what happened?"
Eden said as he pulled out a USB port.
"I can show you."
He handed it to Jace and he insert it. He was surprised to see that they were videos of every day since Eden had moved with Alessa and Bastian.
Jace asked:
"Why did you film everything?"
"Because I knew they would do everything in their power to get rid of me."
Eden explained everything to Jace and he looked at the video to confirm his words. When he was done, Jace’s violent aura surrounded the room and his horns were out.
Eden said:
"Even if I never met my father I know that he loved me and I trusted him. He’s always taken care of me from afar and I knew that he didn’t trust Alessa and Bastian."
Jace calmed down and asked:
"How?"
"He left me a letter telling me that he trusted me to run Knox Fort and that he would rather have the company be destroyed if I don’t want it than go in the hands of his repulsive brother and sister."
Jace passed a hand through his hair.
"Why didn’t he tell me everything I would’ve protected you."
Eden said:
"He felt like you had already done too much when he was sick."
Jace swallowed with difficulty and looked down. From now on he’ll make sure that nothing happens to Eden. He probably hates him as he should but he’ll still protect him from afar. He looked up when he felt Eden’s hand on his.
Eden smiled gently.
"I don’t blame you or I wouldn’t have told you the truth."
Jace’s body relaxed and he held his hand. Eden smiled and he smiled back.
"I’ll take care of everything and have the case close as fast as possible."
It was self-defense since Destry tried to kill him. Eden let go of his hand when he received a notification. He smiled when he saw that the video the police had anonymously received was leaked. He isn’t surprised he knows his aunt and uncle called the media so, of course, they would leak the video.
"What’s wrong?"
"Alessa and Bastian leaked the edited video. It seems like calling the press when you came to arrest me wasn’t enough."
"I’m sorry."
Eden smiled.
"It’s fine it’s not your fault. Do you have any more questions?"
Jace shook his head.
"No come on I’ll drive you home the station is surrounded by journalists."
Eden nodded and he left with Jace. On the way, he found out more about his father from the story Jace told him. He took his number and entered his house.
After working and eating dinner he went to bed. He woke up in the middle of the night when he heard a sound. He checked Versem and kept his eyes closed. A couple of minutes later someone entered his bedroom. He felt his wrists being tied together then he was laid down on his bedroom floor.
He felt the ropes around his wrist being pulled until his body was up. He felt like laughing but didn’t react. Once the intruder was done he kissed him. After a few seconds, Eden responded. Klay broke the kiss and he opened his eyes. He looked at him surprised then he looked up. That little devil had passed the rope through the chandelier.
Eden pulled on it but the chandelier didn’t budge. How heavy is it that it can resist his pull? He looked at Klay and raised an eyebrow.
"What do you think you’re doing?"
Klay looked at him furiously and yelled:
"You were arrested but you didn’t call me. I had to find out on the internet."
Eden said:
"You were on a business trip plus even if you were here it wouldn’t have changed anything. I can take care of myself."
Klay took a step forward and asked sadly:
"So you don’t care if I’m here for you or not?"
Eden looked into his eyes then at his pajamas. He checked Versem and saw that he flew here. Despite wanting to smile he stayed tight-lipped.
Klay’s eyes darken and he held his chin.
"That’s why I tied you so I can punish you."
Eden licked his lips and asked:
"How are you going to punish me?"
Klay ripped his shirt and tossed it on the floor. He undressed him completely and looked at his body. His shiny eyes looked at every part of it, never in his life did he want someone as much as he wanted Eden.
It was already hard to leave the country and be away from him but now that he is standing in front of him at his mercy he won’t stop himself. He just wants to fuck him and hear him moan as he fills him. Klay pulled him in his arms his hands on his ass and kissed him. Eden responded enthusiastically and he seemed disappointed when Klay broke the kiss.
He smiled and said:
"Don’t worry this is only the beginning."
"It is?"
Klay nodded.
"When I’m done with you you won’t keep anything from me ever again.
Klay smiled maliciously.
