Chapter 356: 12.2

"Clan Leader! Big Sister! I will definitely avenge you!"

The young man’s face was filled with grief and hatred. A few drops of long-dried blood stained his once-clean face.

He had watched helplessly as more than a dozen members of his clan died at the hands of a group of mysterious attackers. If the Clan Leader hadn’t exhausted the last of his cultivation to help him escape, the entire Dragon Clan might have vanished from the Celestial Realm overnight.

The young man was named Fu Xin.

He was the youngest and most talented member of the Dragon Clan.

The Dragon Clan had long since fallen into decline. Since the Great War of the Three Realms a thousand years ago, only a dozen or so dragons remained. To survive, they had concealed their strength and lived cautiously, rarely daring to provoke others.

Yet even with such caution, they still suffered annihilation.

Fu Xin knew why.

As the saying goes, a common man is innocent, but possessing a treasure is a crime.

The Dragon Clan rarely made enemies, but that didn’t mean others wouldn’t covet what they possessed.

Fu Xin had always known that the Dragon Clan guarded a Dragon Pearl.

This Dragon Pearl could greatly increase a cultivator’s strength, transform their physique, awaken the inheritance of the ancestral dragons, and even grant access to a supreme cultivation technique capable of dominating the Celestial Realm.

Even more frightening was the fact that the Dragon Pearl wasn’t limited to dragons alone.

Although outsiders couldn’t inherit the complete dragon legacy, they could still obtain enormous benefits from it.

For that reason, countless people coveted it. Many would gladly wipe out the Dragon Clan if it meant obtaining the Dragon Pearl for themselves.

If not for the Clan Leader’s oath a thousand years ago, swearing before the world that the Dragon Pearl had already been lost, the Dragon Clan might have been exterminated long ago.

But Fu Xin knew the truth.

The Clan Leader had only bought a thousand years of peace by secretly enduring the punishment of the Heavenly Oath.

He had sacrificed himself to protect both the Dragon Clan and its future.

Yet if everyone believed the Dragon Pearl was gone, why had someone suddenly attacked the Dragon Clan now?

The fact that the Dragon Pearl still existed, and that the Clan Leader was secretly suffering the backlash of his oath, was known only to members of the Dragon Clan.

Could someone have leaked the secret?

The more Fu Xin thought about it, the more pain and hatred filled his heart.

His entire clan had been wiped out overnight.

And the Dragon Pearl...

Fu Xin slowly raised a hand and touched his chest. Before sending him away, the Clan Leader had forcibly sealed the Dragon Pearl inside his body.

He couldn’t rush to seek revenge.

For now, he could only hide his identity, cultivate diligently, and investigate the people responsible for destroying his clan.

Only then would he have a chance to avenge them.

A gentleman’s revenge can wait ten years.

He could endure. He could wait. But in this vast world, where could he hide?

And where should he even begin searching for the enemies who destroyed his clan?

"Fu Xin? Are you Fu Xin?"

A cheerful voice suddenly sounded behind him.

Fu Xin’s heart tightened. He turned around immediately, eyes full of vigilance.

Standing behind him was an exceptionally handsome man dressed in black and blue robes, descending upon a wave of dark water.

The black wave disappeared silently the moment his feet touched the ground. His robes fluttered lightly, and his long black hair moved without wind.

"Who are you?" Fu Xin asked cautiously, refusing to let the man’s appearance or friendly smile lower his guard.

"I am Jiang Jiamian, Demon Lord of the Demon Realm." Jiang Jiamian revealed his identity without hesitation. "I received a Distress Token from the Dragon Clan Leader. The message said the Dragon Clan was facing a disaster and requested my assistance."

Fu Xin frowned. "A Distress Token? From the Clan Leader? As far as I know, he never mentioned having any relationship with you. Even if the Dragon Clan truly needed help, why would he ask you?"

Jiang Jiamian shook his head. "It’s understandable to be cautious. That’s not a bad thing."

He paused before continuing, "But there’s no need to argue about it right now. Take me to see the Clan Leader. Whether I’m telling the truth or not will become clear soon enough."

Fu Xin’s face instantly turned pale.

He was still young after all. No matter how guarded he was, the mention of the Clan Leader struck directly at his emotions.

"Too late." His voice trembled. "It’s already too late. Even if you really came to help... you’re too late."

Jiang Jiamian already knew the truth. Still, he widened his eyes in apparent shock and grabbed Fu Xin’s wrist. "What do you mean?"

His voice carried disbelief. "What happened? What do you mean it’s too late? Don’t tell me the Clan Leader..."

Fu Xin’s eyes reddened. Immersed in grief once more, he didn’t even notice Jiang Jiamian grabbing him.

"Half a day ago, a group of masked men in black suddenly attacked the Dragon Clan Sea Palace."

His voice shook with anger, "Their techniques were strange. No one could tell where they came from. We fought back immediately, but their leader was incredibly powerful. Even the Clan Leader was no match for him."

Hearing this, Jiang Jiamian felt a rare sense of discomfort.

After all, the original owner of this body truly was the mastermind behind the destruction of the Dragon Clan.

That fact couldn’t be denied. Nor could it be whitewashed.

Even if he personally hadn’t killed anyone, it was still the original owner’s order that sent those subordinates to slaughter the dragons and seize the Dragon Pearl while the Clan Leader was weakened by the punishment of the Oath Lightning Tribulation.

The blame belonged to the original owner.

But unfortunately...

He was now the one wearing that face.

And he really, really didn’t want to take responsibility for someone else’s sins.
