Chapter 88: Chapter 88: He’s a Mad Dog
So far, Ye Xuan didn’t know much about the Alchemist Association, but he still trusted Hua Luoxuan and Zhou Huarong.
Therefore, Ye Xuan was only willing to teach the core techniques to the two of them, not to any other Alchemist.
Hua Luoxuan naturally had no objection. As the head of the association, he certainly wouldn’t be personally involved in the refining process, which meant it could only be Zhou Huarong.
And Zhou Huarong couldn’t have been happier about it.
Even if Ye Xuan hadn’t specified, Zhou Huarong wouldn’t have let such a golden opportunity go to anyone else.
In the entire Alchemist Association, he would be the only one besides the president to master the core refining techniques. This clearly meant his status within the association would be second only to the president himself.
This would be a massive help for him in eventually taking control of the Blue Moon City Alchemist Association.
After all, there were several other Second Grade Alchemists in the association besides him.
’As long as I have this cooperative relationship with Young Master Xuan, once the Pill market takes off, who in the Blue Moon City Alchemist Association will be more qualified than me?’
Zhou Huarong was filled with gratitude for Ye Xuan. ’Meeting Young Master Xuan is truly a blessing from the heavens,’ he thought. ’Not only did he help me break through to Second Grade, but he’s also making my career soar.’
He thought back. ’If I hadn’t been so attentive every time Young Master Xuan visited, how would an opportunity like this have ever come my way?’
Before officially assigning the Alchemists to the task, Hua Luoxuan and Zhou Huarong strongly insisted on running a preliminary test of the brand-new refining method Ye Xuan had provided.
The night the medicinal ingredients arrived, the two of them conducted a test using the method Ye Xuan had provided.
The results of the test were absolutely dazzling.
In a mere quarter of an hour, the two of them had somehow managed to simultaneously refine ten batches of Blood Restoration Pills. Each batch yielded a full twenty Pills, for a total of two hundred Pills in a single session.
Even for two men as worldly and experienced as they were, the sight left them utterly dumbfounded.
This was probably the most Pills the two of them had ever refined in a single day in their entire careers as Alchemists, and they had only spent a mere quarter of an hour.
They never imagined Ye Xuan’s method could be so effective.
This method of multiple people cooperating to refine several batches of Pills at once was something they had not only never seen but never even heard of.
Now, both of them were even more confident about the future of their collaboration.
Finally, the two parties finalized a few more details, such as when the Pills would be released to the market, and then things settled down.
Meanwhile, Ye Zhanxiong had secretly purchased a new estate for the Ye family. Though not in the heart of Blue Moon City, it was a grand, imposing courtyard residence.
With the City Lord’s Mansion banquet just a day away, the treatment room at the Alchemist Association, which had been sealed for four days, finally opened.
"Hahaha!"
Amidst a burst of resonant laughter, Ye Zhanyun strode out, his body seething with battle intent. Dense Profound Qi rose from him, radiating a terrifying aura.
"Zhanyun!"
"Second Brother!"
Feeling the powerful aura emanating from Ye Zhanyun, Ye Zhanxiong and the others were utterly stunned.
When they had first arrived at the Alchemist Association and Ye Xuan told them his father was in seclusion, they had been a little skeptical. But now, seeing Ye Zhanyun, their skepticism vanished, replaced by an even greater shock.
Four days. They had only been in Blue Moon City for four days.
The Ye family had already begun a full-scale collaboration with the Alchemist Association, and Ye Zhanyun had gone from a cripple to a Second Layer Earth Martial Artist. The change was so drastic it was hard to believe.
’Young Master Xuan’s father is quite a remarkable man himself.’
President Hua Luoxuan thought to himself as he quietly watched the scene unfold.
A Second Layer Earth Martial Artist had just emerged and was already giving him a sense of pressure. That had never happened before in the history of Blue Moon City.
Even Lin Xiong, whose martial soul had broken through to Two-Stars, hadn’t felt as formidable as Ye Zhanyun did now.
This pressure didn’t come from Profound Qi, but from his presence alone—a spirit that could only be projected by someone with a truly powerful will, someone who had seen and weathered great storms and faced life and death.
’The Wang family really sealed their fate by offending the Ye family.’
Hua Luoxuan smiled faintly.
As a royal court Alchemist and the president of the kingdom’s Alchemist Association branch in Blue Moon City, he didn’t place much importance on the rise and fall of a family in a small city.
With only one day left until the City Lord’s Mansion banquet, and with Ye Zhanyun out of seclusion, the Ye family members had their outfits prepared early, eagerly awaiting the evening’s festivities.
Evening arrived quickly, and a continuous stream of guests flowed toward the City Lord’s Mansion. They were the aristocrats, magnates, and elite experts from the great clans of Blue Moon City.
The City Lord’s Mansion was situated in the most prime location in Blue Moon City. Its geographical advantage, bustling surroundings, and magnificent architecture were simply beyond compare for any other family in the city.
No matter how powerful any other family became in Blue Moon City, they were all subject to the City Lord’s Mansion. That was true authority.
In front of the City Lord’s Mansion, many of the younger generation from various families had come to the banquet with their elders. The annual banquet was a prime opportunity for them to socialize and strengthen connections.
’So this is the City Lord’s Mansion?’ Ye Zhanxiong and the others were thrilled as they took in the magnificent estate.
For years, while the Ye family could be considered a local power in Blue Moon City, they were seen as little more than country bumpkins, unable to integrate into the city’s true aristocracy. This time, their Ye family was finally qualified to attend the banquet at the City Lord’s Mansion.
"Young Master Xuan?"
Just then, an excited voice rang out. A chubby young man immediately rolled up in front of Ye Xuan—who else could it be but Chen Fatty?
"Haha, I finally get to see you again! Young Master Xuan, let me tell you, this third young master here broke through to the Seven Veins half a month ago! Wahahaha!" Chen Fatty looked incredibly smug, all but wearing the word ’arrogant’ on his face.
It was no wonder he was so excited. Ever since he broke through to the Seven Veins, his status in the family had risen significantly. His various uncles were much kinder to him, and even his grandfather often summoned him to offer guidance on his cultivation.
After all, at Chen Xing’s pace, it was almost a certainty that he would break through to the Spirit Martial Realm and become a Martial Artist next year, allowing him to enter the Profound Spirit Academy. His position in the family had immediately become much more important.
For one thing, Chen Xing had never been qualified to attend an event like the City Lord’s banquet before. This time, however, the Clan Leader had brought him along with a few other disciples who were already starting to manage the family’s businesses.
"Young Master Xuan, these must be your elders," Chen Xing said, greeting Ye Zhanyun and the others respectfully.
Upon learning that Chen Xing was a disciple of the Chen family, one of the three great families, Ye Zhanxiong and the others smiled and nodded.
"Chen Xing, what do you think you’re doing?"
Just then, a cold voice cut in.
Not far away, a few young men in their early twenties, who had arrived at the City Lord’s Mansion with Chen Xing, walked over.
The leader had a sharp, hawk-like gaze. Dressed in a black robe, he looked down on Ye Xuan’s group with an undisguised air of superiority.
"Cousin Chen Zhi, this is my friend from the academy, Ye Xuan. These are his elders."
"Oh? So this is the Ye Xuan from the Ye family? The one who crippled the brats from the Wang and Zhou families and caused such an uproar in Blue Moon City?" The leader shot a cold glance at Ye Xuan’s group, the corner of his mouth curling in a sneer. "Chen Xing, I’m not trying to lecture you, but you’re a disciple of the Chen family. You shouldn’t be associating with such riffraff."
Without another glance at Ye Xuan’s party, the young man turned and entered the City Lord’s Mansion.
The expressions on the faces of Ye Zhanxiong and the others immediately soured.
’These disciples from the great families are truly arrogant.’
Chen Xing’s expression turned awful, and he hurriedly apologized. "Sirs, Young Master Xuan, please don’t be angry. My cousin’s a mad dog. He’s just trying to cause trouble for me. Ahem. It’s mainly because this third young master has been shining a bit too brightly in the clan lately, and that always attracts some mad dogs to come nipping. You’re all magnanimous, so please don’t stoop to his level. Although I’m not the Patriarch of the Chen family yet, in a few years, that position is as good as mine. I’ve heard the Ye family is full of talent, heroic and handsome, and absolutely incredible."
"And that last part was said by the Chen family’s Clan Leader himself. Well, by me, the future Clan Leader, of course."
Chen Xing’s words made it hard for Ye Zhanxiong and the others to suppress their laughter.
’Xuan’Er’s friend is certainly interesting,’ they thought. ’Calling his own cousin a mad dog. Then again, judging by what just happened, the description is quite apt.’
Naturally, Ye Zhanxiong and the others didn’t take the words of a few youngsters to heart. However, from the behavior of Chen Zhi and his friends, they could tell that while the Ye family had been making a name for themselves in Blue Moon City, they were still looked down upon in the eyes of some of the great families.
Ye Xuan’s party had arrived relatively late. The banquet hall was already bustling with people gathered in small groups, chatting cheerfully amongst themselves.
The moment Ye Zhanxiong and his group entered, they immediately drew a great deal of attention.
"Hm? Who are they? I don’t think I’ve seen them at the banquet before. Are they from some newly risen family?"
"Heh, you don’t know them? That young man is Ye Xuan of the Ye family, the one who caused such an uproar in Blue Moon City recently. That means the people with him must be the rest of the Ye family."
"What? That Ye family? The one that wiped out the Blood Saber Stronghold? No wonder they received an invitation from the City Lord’s Mansion. But I heard they offended the Wang and Zhou families. I can’t believe they actually dared to show up."
"Look, one of the Chen family’s boys is with them. Could the Chen family be backing the Ye family?"
The gathered guests murmured amongst themselves, their gazes repeatedly sweeping over the newcomers.
At first, some guests, seeing the unfamiliar faces, had thought to approach and offer a greeting. But upon hearing this was the Ye family—the one that had offended both the Wang and Zhou families—they all stopped in their tracks.
