Chapter 334: Chapter 334: Value of the Treasure

"What a shame. Gale Light Academy is just a loose organization. It’s not like sects such as the Nine Yang Sect, Profound Mystery Sect, or Profound Sound Valley, where disciples in trouble can rely on their sect’s power. Gale Light Academy only trains its students. As for their personal affairs, the academy rarely intervenes."

"Tsk tsk, I hear the major families of Black Stone City have their eyes on the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil. Miss Dongfang Zisi really made a foolish move on behalf of the Divine Walk Commerce Association."

Upon seeing Dongfang Zisi, the eyes of many people present lit up, and they all began to discuss amongst themselves. The gazes of some of the male Martial Artists, in particular, held a strange, intensely greedy light.

In the crowd, Steward Liu, having been called out, just smiled faintly. "Miss Dongfang Zisi, one can eat whatever they want, but one cannot speak so carelessly. Your Treasure Pavilion is open for business; surely you’re not afraid of customers, are you? Besides, I didn’t bring these people here. This young brother did."

Only then did Dongfang Zisi notice Ye Xuan. She frowned and asked, "You want to buy the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil?"

Ye Xuan had suddenly brought so many people, including Steward Liu from the Treasure Pavilion. Dongfang Zisi’s first thought was that Ye Xuan was here to cause trouble, and her tone turned somewhat hostile.

"That’s right. You have it here?" Ye Xuan didn’t care what kind of tone Dongfang Zisi took with him. The only thing he cared about was the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil.

"We have it, yes, but what price can you offer?"

"You’re the ones selling the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil. I’d like to know what price you’re asking!" Ye Xuan retorted.

Dongfang Zisi glanced at Ye Xuan. "Generally, a Tier Seven treasure has a theoretical value starting at a minimum of one hundred million Profound Coins. However, that’s just its theoretical value. A Tier Seven treasure is a Lord Level treasure. You definitely can’t buy it with Profound Coins. Our Treasure Pavilion is only willing to accept Profound Stones or Pills."

"If it’s Profound Stones, we prefer Mid-grade Profound Stones; three hundred of them will be enough for the exchange. If it’s Lower Grade Profound Stones, we’ll need forty thousand. As for Pills, we require seventy Fifth Grade Pills, and they can’t be ordinary Profound Power-condensing types. For Fourth Grade Pills, we’d need one thousand, and they can’t be the ordinary kind either."

Dongfang Zisi explained in detail.

Ye Xuan was slightly surprised to hear this. He hadn’t expected her to be so straightforward and even state the price so clearly.

A Lord Level treasure like the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil truly couldn’t be assigned a simple price tag. Bartering was arguably the simplest method of transaction.

Aside from Ye Xuan, no one else was particularly shocked. Apparently, most of them already knew the price.

Ye Xuan mulled it over.

He had to obtain the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil; it was just a matter of figuring out the most cost-effective way to trade for it.

He definitely didn’t have forty thousand Lower Grade Profound Stones. As for Mid-grade Profound Stones, he had some in his Storage Ring—more than enough to cover the three hundred—but not much more. If he traded them away, he would be short on the Mid-grade Profound Stones he needed for his own cultivation and refining.

So, exchanging with Profound Stones was clearly not an option.

That left only Pills. He didn’t currently have one thousand Fourth Grade Pills, but he had plenty of Spirit Medicines in his Storage Ring. It would take him a little over half a month of refining to make enough.

However, Ye Xuan was unwilling to waste over half a month’s time. Besides, who knew if the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil would still be available by the time he gathered enough Pills.

The last option was Fifth Grade Pills.

He still had nearly a hundred of the Fifth Grade Pills he’d refined back in the Floating Light Secret Realm, which should be enough to cover the cost of the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil.

He’d just have to refine some more later when he needed Pills for his cultivation.

To an ordinary Martial Artist, Fifth Grade Pills were absolutely priceless treasures. But to an Alchemist like Ye Xuan, the loss was merely some Tier Five spirit medicine ingredients.

With that thought, Ye Xuan nodded. "That price is fine. But I want to inspect the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil first. If it’s real, we have a deal."

’This kid actually agreed.’

Steward Liu and the others who had come along to watch the show were all shocked, and an uproar instantly erupted.

The news that the Treasure Pavilion was selling the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil, and its price, was known to nearly every Martial Artist in Black Stone City. Some of the city’s great families had even come in person to try and purchase it.

However, they all generally felt the Treasure Pavilion’s asking price was a bit high and wanted to haggle it down. But the Treasure Pavilion wouldn’t budge an inch, so a transaction was never successful.

Frankly, the Treasure Pavilion’s price wasn’t actually that high. After all, a Tier Seven item is a priceless treasure; any price is appropriate. It was a matter of whether one would buy it or not, not whether the price was suitable.

But the Divine Walk Commerce Association was currently in a crisis and desperately needed resources, which was why the great families felt they had the upper hand and wanted to try haggling again.

It was a contest of wills to see who could hold out longer.

After all, paying with either Profound Stones or Pills was an astronomical price that not just anyone could afford.

What no one had expected was that after hearing the price, Ye Xuan would agree without a second thought, stating directly that as long as the item was real, he would take it.

This behavior stunned everyone in an instant.

This was a transaction worth hundreds of millions of Profound Coins, not buying a cabbage at the market. How could this kid dare to agree without even thinking about it?

Never mind whether his family even had such financial resources.

He’s being so impulsive—do his parents know? Do his relatives know? Does his family know?

"You agreed." It wasn’t just the surrounding crowd who was shocked; Dongfang Zisi also wore a look of astonishment, having not anticipated this outcome at all.

’Could it be this young man really wasn’t sent by the Tianya Commerce Association? Or is there some conspiracy afoot?’

Frowning, she couldn’t help but hesitate.

"What, is there a problem? Don’t tell me the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil your Treasure Pavilion claims to have is a fake?"

Ye Xuan frowned. His biggest fear was that the Treasure Pavilion’s announcement was just a publicity stunt.

"Yeah, Miss Dongfang Zisi! The man said he’ll take it. Why hasn’t your Treasure Pavilion brought out the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil yet? It’s not fake, is it?"

"That’s right! We’ve all heard the Treasure Pavilion has the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil for sale, but none of us has ever seen it. Why not bring it out and let us all broaden our horizons?"

"Did the Divine Walk Commerce Association change its mind and decide not to sell the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil? Aren’t they just toying with all of us?"

The guests who had followed Ye Xuan inside all started to clamor.

Dongfang Zisi bit her lip, glanced at the old man beside her, and finally made up her mind. "Uncle Ye, bring it out."

’In my own Treasure Pavilion, I doubt the Tianya Commerce Association would dare to snatch it openly.’

The old man nodded and went upstairs. A moment later, he returned, holding a jade box.

The Treasure Pavilion’s guards kept the many guests at a distance while the old man, under everyone’s watchful eyes, opened the jade box.

A seven-colored light burst forth in the hall, painting everyone’s faces in its vibrant hues. A rich, earthy aura emanated from it, and its powerful presence made everyone’s breathing become unsteady, their eyes shining.

’So this is a Tier Seven, Lord Level treasure?’

Many people present had never once seen a Tier Seven treasure in their entire lives. Now that they had the chance, they all craned their necks, their eyes as wide as goose eggs, as if they were admiring a naked beauty.

In truth, they couldn’t tell what was so special about the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil, but the oppressive might of a Lord Level treasure weighed on their hearts and made it difficult to breathe.

"It is indeed the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil, and an Upper Grade one at that."

Ye Xuan could tell with a single glance that what she had brought out was the genuine Seven-Colored Chaos Soil.

SNAP!

The jade box closed.

The seven-colored light instantly vanished. The powerful aura from a moment ago dissipated like darkness at the break of dawn, gone as if it were all a fleeting dream.

The dazed looks in everyone’s eyes finally faded as they came back to their senses.

"Have you seen it clearly enough?" Dongfang Zisi asked, watching Ye Xuan.

"It’s the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil, no doubt about it." Ye Xuan nodded.

Everyone was startled. Steward Liu’s gaze sharpened. Ye Xuan had just said that if the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil was real, he would buy it.

Based on Ye Xuan’s earlier behavior at the Treasure Pavilion, Steward Liu had been certain he would go back on his word, claiming he couldn’t verify its authenticity. The Treasure Pavilion would have been powerless to do anything about it.

’But now he’d actually admitted it was real. Is this guy really planning to buy the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil?’

Just then, Jin Lin, who was beside Ye Xuan, suddenly spoke up.

"Hehe, after all this time, I finally see something barely worth looking at. That thing just now had such dense earth-elemental Profound Power. Too bad it’s a little small, only a fist-sized piece. If it were bigger, it would definitely make for a very comfortable bed."

Jin Lin wore a look of blissful longing.

PFFT!

The entire crowd was dumbstruck, staring at Jin Lin in utter disbelief.

’What is this idiot talking about? A little small? He wants to make a bed out of the Seven-Colored Chaos Soil?’

’Damn it, this is Tier Seven Seven-Colored Chaos Soil! It’s exceedingly rare on the entire continent!’

’A fist-sized piece is already worth hundreds of millions of Profound Coins and can be called a priceless treasure. A piece the size of a bed would be of incalculable value! And even if a piece of Seven-Colored Chaos Soil that large really existed, no one would ever make a bed out of it!’

’Even the top magnates of the Profound Domain probably aren’t that extravagant!’

"So, are you buying it or not?" Dongfang Zisi stared at Ye Xuan, her heart pounding with nervousness.

Everyone else also turned to look, and the atmosphere became incredibly tense.

"Buy it? Of course, I’m buying it." Thinking of the dense collection of Spirit Medicines in his Storage Ring, Ye Xuan had a sudden idea. "However, I was wondering if you would be willing to trade for Spirit Medicines?"

’The Fifth Grade Pills are still useful to me,’ Ye Xuan thought. ’And I have more than enough Spirit Medicines in my Storage Ring. If I can trade with those, it would be for the best.’

Of course, if they weren’t willing, Ye Xuan wouldn’t force the issue.

But upon hearing Ye Xuan’s words, the hopeful expression in Dongfang Zisi’s eyes instantly turned cold.

"Are you toying with me?" she said coldly.

"Sir, aren’t you going too far?" Uncle Ye, the one holding the jade box, also snorted coldly.

A terrifying wave of Profound Power, like a great mountain, pressed down on Ye Xuan. The mere sliver of its might that radiated outward was enough to make some of the guests near Ye Xuan gasp and stumble back.
