Chapter 449: This Law suit you well

The sun had begun its slow descent, painting the sky in shades of orange and crimson. The heat of the day lingered, radiating from the rocks, but a cool breeze had begun to stir, carrying the promise of evening. Nero and Khione stood at the base of the mountain, the frozen bodies of the drakes still visible on the slope above. They had completed the mission. But neither was ready to leave.

"We should train," Khione said. Her voice was calm, but there was an edge to it—a hunger, a need to test herself. She had felt the gap between them growing, and she wanted to close it.

Nero nodded. "Here?"

"Here. The terrain is challenging. The heat will test my ice." She paused. "And I want to see your new law."

He did not argue. He drew his sword, and the blade shimmered with a faint blue light—the color of water, the color of the ocean depths. He took a stance, relaxed and ready.

Khione raised her wand. "Don’t hold back."

"I won’t."

They moved.

Khione struck first. A wave of frost rolled from her wand, sweeping across the rocky ground, freezing everything in its path. Nero did not retreat. He stepped forward, and water gathered around his blade, forming a thin, shimmering film. He swung, and the wave of frost parted before him, the ice melting into steam.

He closed the distance. His sword came down in a clean arc, the water around its edge hardening into ice at the last moment. Khione parried with her wand, a shield of frost forming to meet the blow. The impact sent shockwaves through the air, cracking the ground beneath them.

They broke apart, circled, came together again. Khione was fast, her spells precise, her movements fluid. She sent ice spears, frost waves, freezing mists. Nero met each attack with water and ice of his own, his sword a blur of blue light. He defended, counterattacked, pushed her back.

He was using only the Law of Water, but it was enough. The water flowed around him, a second skin, responding to his will. He could shape it into shields, blades, whips. He could freeze it into ice, harden it into armor. He could vaporize it into steam, blinding his opponent.

Khione felt the pressure. She was giving her all, unleashing her most powerful spells, and still she could not touch him. He was too fast, too fluid, too adaptable. Every attack she launched, he countered. Every opening she found, he closed.

She created a dome of ice around him, trapping him inside. He dissolved it with a wave of water. She summoned a blizzard, obscuring his vision. He cleared it with a burst of steam. She froze the ground beneath his feet. He melted it with a touch.

She could not win. She knew it. But she did not stop.

Nero watched her, his eyes calm, his movements controlled. He could see her frustration, her determination, her refusal to yield. She was pushing herself, testing her limits, and he respected her for it.

He decided to give her something to learn from.

He raised his sword, and the water around it coiled into a spiral, spinning faster and faster. He lunged, and the spiral struck Khione’s shield. The ice cracked, shattered, and she was thrown back.

She landed on the rocky ground, her wand still in her hand, her chest heaving. She looked up at him, her eyes burning with a fierce, cold fire.

"Again," she said.

He nodded. "Again."

They fought on, the sun sinking lower, the shadows lengthening. The mountain echoed with the clash of ice and water, the roar of frost, the hiss of steam. They did not speak. They did not need to. The fight was a conversation, a dialogue of law and will.

Khione grew more creative. She layered her spells, combining frost waves with ice spears, freezing mist with sudden bursts of cold. She tried to trap him, to overwhelm him, to force a mistake.

Nero adapted. He used water to flow around her attacks, ice to block them, steam to confuse her. He moved like a river, constant and unyielding.

In the end, he disarmed her. A twist of his sword, a surge of water, and her wand flew from her hand, clattering against a rock. She stood before him, weaponless, her chest heaving, her eyes bright.

He lowered his sword. "Good fight."

She bent to retrieve her wand. Her hand trembled slightly. She was exhausted, drained, but her eyes were clear.

"I learned," she said. "Your control over water... it’s not just power. It’s understanding. You flow with the moment, adapt to the attack. I was too rigid."

Nero sheathed his sword. "You were strong. You pushed me."

She looked at him, and a small, tired smile crossed her face. "I couldn’t win. But I grew."

He reached out and touched her cheek. "That’s what matters."

They stood together in the fading light, the mountain silent around them. The mission was complete. The training was done. But they had both gained something—a deeper understanding of each other, a stronger bond.

"We should go," she said. "It’s getting dark."

He nodded. "Let’s go."

They walked down the mountain together, her hand in his, the stars beginning to appear above. The heat of the day had faded, replaced by a cool, gentle breeze. The world was quiet, peaceful.

Nero looked at Khione. Her face was pale, her hair wind-tossed, her eyes soft. She was beautiful, fierce, and she was his.

"The water suits you," she said.

He smiled. "It suits us."

They walked on, leaving the frozen drakes and the scorched mountain behind. There would be more battles, more challenges, more storms. But for now, there was this—the quiet, the connection, the shared moment.

It was enough.

Well, the truth was in fact right now Khione was truly happy because finally he awakened a law related to hers, she felt closer and no more jealous of Elreth. If Nero knew she was jealous because his previous laws made him closer to certain female he would have laughed it off.
