Chapter 440: Hot Steamy Bath
The evening had deepened into night. The festival lights still glowed in the distance, but the crowds had thinned, the music softened. Nero stood outside Khione’s dorm, the door closed before him. He had knocked once, and she had opened it without a word.
Her room was, neat, exactly as always with the minimum furnitures.
"You came," she said.
"I came."
He stepped inside, and she closed the door behind him.
"I haven’t eaten," she said finally.
"Let’s eat then, I can’t wait to eat your cooking, babe."
She moved to the small kitchenette and opened the refrigerator. Leftover rice, vegetables, a few eggs. She set to work, her movements efficient, practiced. Nero watched from the doorway. The soft light of the stove illuminated her profile, the curve of her cheek, the fall of her hair.
He did not offer to help. He knew she needed to do this—to create something, to control something, to feel useful after a day of pushing against impossible limits.
The meal was simple. Rice, stir-fried vegetables, a thin soup. They ate sitting on the floor, cross-legged, the plates between them. The food was warm, comforting. They ate in silence, but it was a different silence now—intimate, shared.
When the plates were empty, Khione set them aside. She leaned back against the bed, her eyes half-closed.
"I trained too hard today," she admitted. "My shoulders ache."
Nero moved behind her. "Let me."
She did not resist. His hands found her shoulders, her neck, her upper back. His fingers pressed into the knots, working the tension from her muscles. She sighed, a soft sound, and let her head fall forward.
He worked in silence, his touch firm but gentle. He had learned this from his mother, the art of healing hands. The years of caring for her had taught him where to press, how long to hold, when to release.
Khione’s breathing slowed. Her shoulders dropped. The tension melted away, replaced by a warmth that spread through her chest.
"Thank you," she whispered.
He kissed the top of her head. "Rest."
She rose, her legs unsteady, and walked toward the bathroom. The light clicked on. Water began to run.
Nero waited.
The door was open. She stood before the mirror, her robe half-undone. She looked at him through the reflection, her eyes soft, her lips parted.
"Ner," she said, her voice barely a whisper.
"Can you help me~"
Before she could finish, he was there.
He moved like a ghost, crossing the small room in a heartbeat. His arms wrapped around her from behind, pulling her against his chest. The heat of his body seeped through the silk, through her skin, into her bones. She shivered.
His scent—clean, masculine, faintly smoky—filled her senses. Her mind went blank.
She melted into his embrace, surrendering without resistance. The tough front she had maintained all day, the cold mask of the Ice Queen, crumbled. She had anticipated this. She had welcomed it.
The shower was already running, steam rising, fogging the mirror. The bathroom grew thick with warmth and the scent of pulsing desire they could no longer hide.
Nero turned her to face him. His hands found the tie of her robe and pulled. The silk fell away, pooling at her feet. She stood before him, bare, beautiful, her pale skin flushed with heat.
He shrugged off his own clothes, his eyes never leaving hers.
The hot water cascaded down their bodies, slick and steaming. Khione involuntarily clenched her thighs together, a torrential heat surging through her veins. For a fleeting moment, she lost control, instinctively pressing herself against Nero’s chest.
Though she appeared delicate, her curves were soft and full, her skin smooth as polished jade. Nero inhaled her scent—warm, intoxicating, like winter flowers after rain. His whole body shuddered with pleasure as he pressed his lips against hers, savoring every inch.
"Mmm..."
A sweet moan escaped her lips as she felt his breath sear against her skin. The relentless heat of his touch burrowed into her, a mix of shame and longing leaving her helplessly trapped in this intoxicating moment.
As the shower water continued to flow, Khione could no longer hold back. She bit down on her lip, suppressing the moans threatening to escape her throat, while her trembling body desperately fought against the overwhelming tide of emotions.
And then—she felt it.
Something hot and rigid pressed against her.
She twisted instinctively in embarrassment, only causing more friction between them.
"Nero~"
"Mmm..."
She shuddered at the sound of his voice, her response soft and breathless.
A fire ignited deep in Nero’s chest. He could not bear to let go of her supple waist. With one hand cradling the back of her neck, he deepened the kiss. With the other, he lifted her leg.
And then—like a war machine roaring to life—he pressed forward, plunging into the scorching storm of steam and passion.
"Ah~"
At that moment, Khione completely surrendered. Her body trembled, her face flushed, her dazed eyes filled with longing.
Their souls collided in the dark, breaking through the walls that had separated them. In this world, they found each other. They found comfort in each other’s warmth and would face any storm together, stronger and unbreakable.
Nero lifted her, her legs wrapping around his waist, her back against the cool tile. The water streamed over them, hot and relentless. He moved, and she moved with him, their bodies finding a rhythm as old as time.
Later—minutes or hours, she could not tell—he carried her to the bed. The sheets were cool against her heated skin. He laid her down and covered her body with his.
He was gentle. Then he was not. He was patient. Then he was hungry. He explored every curve, every hollow, every place that made her gasp.
She rode him like a storm, her white hair wild, her body moving in waves. Her hands pressed against his chest, her nails leaving crescents. The sound of flesh against flesh filled the room, mingling with her soft cries and his ragged breath.
He rolled them over, took her from behind, then from the side, then standing before the mirror where she could watch herself come undone.
They made love until they were satisfied. Truly, deeply, completely satisfied.
When the last wave passed, they lay tangled together, her head on his chest, his arm around her waist. The room was dark. The festival was quiet. The world outside did not exist.
"I love you," she whispered.
He kissed her forehead. "I love you too."
They slept, wrapped in each other, dreaming of nothing but the next dawn.
