Chapter 1721: Ambush

With Eryndor unleashing all four Hell Demons, the battle took a turn.

Kha’zixarath locked in against the leader of the Sand Centipedes, pushing it back several miles to make way for all the deadly attacks he had in store.

While he is a Hell Demon and can take on the form of a demi-human or human, Kha’zixarath chose to remain in his beast form. This was simply because he felt more true to himself in that form.

The beast form also allowed him to unleash more bestial attacks, and considering his opponent was a colossal beast, using his own deadly attacks was the best course of action.

And that had proven right. They both were Demigods, but with every attack, the Sand Demon was being pushed back, and that said a lot.

Kha’zixarath unleashed a deadly claw attack, then with the same momentum, he unleashed a powerful breath attack that scorched the hide of the Sand Centipede.

However, instead of retreating, it unleashed a tail attack that pushed Kha’zixarath back and immediately followed up with a deadly bone attack. For a moment, thousands of bones came at Kha’zixarath.

But as if the bone spears were nothing, he let them land on his body only for them to bounce off him as though he were made of the hardest metal known to man.

This made the Sand Centipede reevaluate its stance. But as if Kha’zixarath already knew the outcome of what it would do, he unleashed a domain skill, causing the entire space around them to be plunged into flames.

Everything was consumed by the domain skill.

In no time, the entire battlefield was sent into a storm of flames, causing Uncle Drew, who had already gained the upper hand and yet again severed the tail of the Sand Centipede as he did with the Shadowtail Scorpion, to grin.

"Looks like Eryndor came prepared this time around."

Back when they had just become Night Riders and he hadn’t yet summoned any Hell Demons, they used to tease him, calling him a summonless summoner.

Now, however, he had become a true Hell Summoner, and his summons were already wreaking havoc on the battlefield.

Away from Kha’zixarath, Thrakos also seemed to move like a shadow, his two curved blades dancing through the air, cutting one deadly wound after another into the bodies of the three Sand Centipedes he had taken on.

He had affinities for Darkness, Wind, and Poison, so every attack he unleashed carried traces of poison and decay, the kind that made him extremely dangerous.

But while he was having a good fight, Zandros was also weaving his way through the battlefield, unleashing one deadly attack after another. His affinities were Flame and Blood, so every attack carried the metallic stench of blood, while flames and destruction followed him.

Xuanli also remained seated, playing her zither while a part of her was raining dread upon the souls of the Sand Centipedes she had pulled into the astral plane.

She was among the few who could live without their souls. In fact, in all of the universe’s history, only a few people could do that, and they were called the Soulless.

They could separate their souls from their bodies, allowing them to live on different planes. Xuanli was able to do that, and now, while her body and mind worked together to unleash dreadful tunes that tortured the mind, her soul was also fighting a different battle, controlling thousands of swords with both her mind and soul.

Lene was also close to killing her opponent, while Vargus had already carved deep wounds into the body of his target.

The only ones still having a dangerous battle were Eryndor and Saden, who, despite their relentless attacks, couldn’t bring the Sand Centipede down.

But despite it all, they seemed calm, almost too calm for two Immortals fighting a Demigod-level beast whose power far exceeded that of most Demigods.

They were already aware of the kind of monsters they would be meeting, so they came prepared.

Some years back, the Immortal Worlds were for Immortals. But these days, the Demigods had dominated every corner of them.

So, coming to the Dead World, they were already prepared to fight grave battles and win every last one of them.

Suddenly, Lene’s body glowed, and wind blades circled her. Then, with a deadly slash, she unleashed an invisible wind blade that flew through the air and carved a deep wound into the body of the Sand Centipede.

Before it could get back up, she was already upon it.

"Wind Blade Cutter."

Another wind blade was unleashed, and as if she had pinpoint accuracy, the attack landed on exactly the same place where the large wound had been inflicted, further opening a massive gash in its body.

Blood poured out of it, causing the already wounded and sluggish Sand Centipede to try and make a run for it.

"Not on my watch."

Lene appeared overhead and, for the third time, unleashed another wind blade, splitting the worm in half.

She made sure the third attack landed exactly where the others had.

With its body split open, it was only a matter of time before it died.

But in the meantime, Lene dashed toward the Sand Centipede Saden and Eryndor were fighting. Just when she arrived there, Saden vanished into the shadows and appeared beside the severely wounded Sand Centipede.

Then, with one deadly arrow after another, she managed to end the suffering of the poor worm. She then collected the core and vanished, appearing beside the Sand Centipede whose tail Uncle Drew had severed, and did the same.

Meanwhile, Uncle Drew had already vanished from the battlefield.

He could not be seen anywhere. However, considering how devastating the battlefield was, nobody seemed to notice. Already, Zandros, Thrakos, Kha’zixarath, and Xuanli had taken the majority of the Sand Centipedes off the board, so the main team wasn’t under much pressure.

However, judging by how devastating the battle was, the disappearance of one of the key warriors, whose presence gave hope to the rest of his teammates, should have been noticed. Yet for ten minutes, everyone remained calm.

Then, just when Vargus brought down his target and was about to examine the battlefield, an arrow came from nowhere and embedded itself in his shoulder.

His body was sent flying back, but against all odds, he landed on his feet and roared, slamming his large hammer against the arrow. It shattered in half, and Vargus’ red eyes glowed.

A deep icy aura exploded from his body, and his long black hair billowed behind him, causing the space around him to freeze. Veins bulged on his arms as the armour around him turned jagged, metallic, black and red.

Already, he stood 7’3" tall. However, he now looked 8’3" tall, with a presence so overwhelming that if he had unleashed it before, perhaps Eryndor wouldn’t have needed to unleash his Hell Summoner class.

"Worms, why hide if you have come here to die?"

Nobody responded, but the next second, they were forced to reveal themselves when a deadly sword arc came out of nowhere, arriving before them.

Nine were quick to act; however, two found themselves at the mercy of Uncle Drew’s deadly attack, one that revealed where he had gone after cutting off the tail of the Sand Centipede.

"Since you have come to die, then die."

His body exploded with sword energy, and at once, the legendary Kael Duskbane was revealed, his presence imposing and commanding.
