Chapter 78: Destruction and Secrets

Amon walked out of the room and locked the door behind him.

Silently, a figure materialised in front of the door.

"Watch over them while I handle a few things." Amon said to Moon, who had appeared at some point in time.

Using the unique skill they shared, he was able to summon Moon to this location.

Moon tilted his head ever so slightly, sensing his overwhelming killing intent, before giving a faint nod.

With that, the Winter Frost Blade appeared in Amon’s grasp.

It emitted a faint tremble, seething with excitement and eagerness.

"It’s time for slaughter." Amon touched the hilt of the blade, easing its excitement as he took a step forward.

Instantly, he was in the hall where the banquet had taken place.

It was now scantily occupied, and there weren’t many people present anymore save for a few guests from higher-ranked families.

Seeing a strange figure suddenly appear out of thin air, many of them were taken aback.

However, before they could do anything more, a cold sword light erupted from Amon’s blade.

A frigid chill spread through the air, making everyone shiver.

"Wha—"

Before the crowd could react to the attack, they turned into ice sculptures and shattered into countless icy fragments.

They died almost instantly. After all, the person with the highest rank here was only at C-rank.

Being at S-rank and possessing strength enough to rival SSS-rank hunters, Amon could be considered overkill against these small fries.

"Who?"

The strange, unsettling silence alerted the guards outside, and they quickly rushed inside.

However, with a casual step, Amon was behind them.

Bang!

Both guards’ heads exploded into blood mist.

They hadn’t even seen how Amon had attacked until the moment of their deaths.

Amon walked out of the banquet hall, taking a casual stroll through the familiar building.

The last time he was here was on the day of his awakening.

His predecessor had been treated like garbage.

Although Amon harboured no feelings toward his predecessor, seeing that they had discarded him to such an extent still pissed him off.

Amon was like the grim reaper in the night, taking the lives of everyone he encountered.

The higher-ups of the Miraclad Family were still unaware of the ongoing bloodshed.

The night remained eerily silent.

After barely five minutes, Amon finally arrived at a location.

This was his first destination.

Marcus’ chambers.

Amon’s steps remained even as he walked into the place.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

With a flick of his finger, Amon killed the guards.

His strength was at a level where he could flick the air and cause air bullets to fly at lightning-fast speeds.

Just a single one was enough to erase a B-rank hunter.

Amon continued at a leisurely pace before finally arriving at an inner chamber.

With another flick of his finger, the door shattered, revealing the startled look on Marcus’ face as he glanced toward the entrance.

Instantly, lightning flickered around Marcus’ form incessantly.

"An assassin?" Marcus thought in surprise as he quickly poised himself to strike.

Amon glanced at him with curiosity.

Marcus felt a chill run down his spine upon meeting that gaze.

It was the gaze of an apex predator!

’He’s stronger than me! I have to alert the family head!’

Marcus quickly analysed the situation internally and began formulating an escape plan.

However, Amon wouldn’t give him the chance to think for long.

With a flick of Amon’s finger, the air in front of him shot forward at lightning speed.

"Arrrrghhhh!!!"

A pained scream tore from Marcus’ throat as his hand shattered, turning into paste.

It was the same hand he had used to touch Amon previously.

Amon took a step forward and appeared in front of him.

He held Marcus’ chin up, forcing him to stare directly into his eyes. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Marcus stared intently at the eyes beneath the mask.

They seemed... familiar in a way.

Suddenly, a voice that made his eyes widen echoed out.

"Don’t touch me next time."

Marcus’ eyes widened in shock and alarm almost instantly, staring at the mask as though he had seen a ghost.

That voice was unmistakable!

He also finally recalled where he had seen such calm eyes.

Staring at the mask, he tried to plead for mercy, but the next instant, his vision darkened and he turned into blood mist.

Amon glanced at the pool of blood and shook his head slightly, feeling no tinge of emotion whatsoever.

He was only connected to these people by blood.

However, his true self, his soul that had traversed from Earth, had no relation to anyone present here.

Hearing footsteps, Amon remained calm.

His two other siblings lived nearby, so the noise had likely attracted them over.

’Using this opportunity, I can eliminate them as well.’

Although they were high-ranked hunters as well, they were incomparable to Amon.

The footsteps grew louder, followed by hushed voices drifting from nearby.

Amon glanced toward the alleyway, waiting for the two to appear from the other end.

He didn’t have to wait long.

Within seconds, two figures came sprinting at lightning speed.

One of them seemed like a blur of motion and shadow, while the other moved so rapidly that it almost seemed like teleportation.

They were fast, extremely fast, enough to be compared to S-rank awakeners.

As expected of one of the top families in this world, possessing an ancient, unknown bloodline.

However, in Amon’s line of sight, it still seemed as though they were taking a slow walk.

’Let me show you what true speed really is...’

With a light step, he was in front of his sister.

Her pupils shrank drastically as she noticed the figure that had appeared before her without warning.

Just as she was about to react, she noticed a fist descending toward her.

’How is it so fast?’

She tried to react, but although her mind could perceive the attack and faintly process it, her body moved unbearably slowly.

She could hardly respond before the fist struck her, causing her body to burst apart.

His second brother instantly fled the moment he sensed the danger his sister had encountered.

His speed was great. It truly was.

And he was burning everything he had, heading toward the main palace, toward the clan head, knowing he had encountered a monster.

However, before Amon, distance became meaningless.

Close Yet So Far activated, and distance lost its meaning.

One moment he had dealt with his sister, and the next instant he was standing before his brother, his fist descending casually once more.

"FATHER NO!!!!!!!"

His brother roared at the top of his lungs, but it was already too late.

He was brutally killed beneath Amon’s fist.

Amon hadn’t even needed to use the Winter Frost Blade in dealing with his siblings.

After killing him, his attention turned toward the massive palace looming ahead.

His gaze remained as calm as ever as he stared at the palace.

At that moment, a devastating pressure spread outward from the palace, blasting into the surroundings.

A thunderous roar erupted violently through the night.

"How dare you???!!"

Following the roar came the destruction of stone, fragments flying in all directions as a figure burst through the palace, heading toward Amon at a frightening speed.
