Chapter 63: Queen. Ploy

Amon glanced around at his surroundings.

"Kingdom?" His voice echoed calmly through the vast hall.

As his gaze swept across the area, he couldn’t help recalling the countless monsters from before.

Amon’s thoughts stirred slightly. However, he knew there was only one way to approach the explanation he wanted.

"Why do you call this place your kingdom? It’s merely a dungeon."

It was the first time Amon had actively engaged in a discussion with anyone, whether human or monster, since he became the Butcher.

The woman stared at him for a moment longer before a soft laugh escaped her lips.

"We are all rulers of our individual palaces... it only seems like a dungeon because that’s what we want it to be for now."

Hearing her words, he was slightly startled.

’We?’

The dungeon the president had spoken about came to mind, and suspicion began blooming in Amon’s heart, but he pushed it aside.

The Winter Frost Sword materialized in Amon’s grasp.

"You... you want to kill me?"

A serious expression quickly replaced the relaxed look the woman had worn.

"You’re a monster, aren’t you?"

The woman’s eyes flashed coldly, and runes began shimmering across her body. At the same time, dark, fur-like wings stretched from her back.

"So what if I’m a monster? If I want to destroy this world, who dares to stop me?"

The woman growled and completed her transformation.

Her aura surpassed any monster Amon had ever encountered, excluding the Demon Lord.

It was clear that she was truly a terrifying being.

However...

’She’s still not my match.’

Amon analyzed her almost instantly and arrived at a conclusion.

The woman stared at Amon and frowned slightly when she saw that the release of her aura had failed to shake him in the slightest.

Swoosh!

The air exploded.

Her speed, which had already drastically surpassed the speed of sound, erupted even further.

One instant she was still atop the throne, in the final stages of her transformation.

The next instant, she was in front of Amon, her sharp claws reaching toward his heart.

Bang!

A massive explosion erupted as her hand collided with Amon’s chest. Her claws dug into his clothes and scraped against the flesh beneath.

Silent golden blood trickled onto the ground.

It wasn’t that Amon had failed to react in time.

Instead, he wanted to test the Supreme Divine Physique he possessed.

And truly, it had surpassed all his expectations.

His skin had become as tough as the strongest metal in the world.

The claw of the SS-rank Queen before him barely managed to injure him, leaving behind only a few shallow scratches from which his blood flowed.

At the same time, Amon realized that at some point his blood had turned golden.

He guessed this was likely another effect of the Supreme Divine Physique.

"How’s this possible? You are a human!"

The Queen was stunned.

Terror rapidly filled her heart as she saw that Amon was virtually unharmed by her attack.

The fact that her claws hadn’t even been able to pierce his skin left her shocked and horrified.

Before she could react, a hand gripped her neck tightly.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The air exploded continuously as the Queen unleashed hundreds of attacks in an instant.

Yet every single one failed to leave so much as a scratch on Amon.

"Monster..." the Queen whispered in horror, realizing that the true monster was the human standing before her.

’But how’s this possible? Humans aren’t supposed to be this strong!’

"Who sent you here?"

Amon asked, his grip on her neck tightening ever so slightly.

If he used too much force, he was certain he would crush her neck.

That was something he didn’t want to do.

At least not yet.

The Queen gasped, struggling to breathe.

Seeing that she was willing to speak, Amon loosened his grip just enough to let her answer.

"If I tell you, you promise to let me go?"

Amon stared at her silently.

"If the information you give me is worth it, I will."

After sensing that there were two dungeons, one ruled by a king and another by a queen, Amon guessed there was likely someone behind the entire thing.

And he was curious who exactly it was.

Hearing his words, the Queen’s eyes trembled repeatedly, flashing with a strange light.

She frowned slightly, her gaze turning contemplative as she hesitated over whether to speak the truth.

Suddenly, the sound of cracking bones echoed through the hall.

The breath was drawn from her lungs as she realized that the Butcher was about to twist her neck off.

"W-wai-wait..."

Using every bit of strength she could muster, she finally forced the words out.

Only then did the Butcher release his grip once more.

Amon’s eyes were cold with ruthless intent as he stared at her.

If she made a single wrong move, he wouldn’t hesitate to kill her.

"We were sent here to destroy this world and bring back the World Core. However, the laws of this world restrict us to a drastic extent. That’s the reason we can only form our own small worlds, biding our time and waiting for the perfect opportunity to finally attack."

Amon’s eyes couldn’t help widening slightly.

His mind raced.

Destroy this world?

World Core?

The phrase echoed repeatedly in his mind.

If this world possessed a core, then what exactly was it?

A source of power?

The foundation of reality itself?

And what kind of existence could casually send monsters capable of threatening entire worlds?

Amon’s grip tightened unconsciously.

The more he learned, the larger the hidden truth seemed to become.

After a moment, he finally spoke in a deep voice filled with killing intent.

"Who sent you here?"

"That..."

The Queen hesitated.

They were not allowed to speak the name of that entity.

But her life was on the line.

After a brief internal struggle, she decided to reveal it.

"Gr-"

Bang!

Before she could finish speaking, her body exploded.

The instant she began uttering the name, Amon’s danger sense exploded as well, sending goosebumps crawling across his skin.

Without hesitation, Amon abandoned every thought of obtaining further information and immediately used Close Yet So Far.

Bang!

He appeared several kilometers away from where he had been standing moments earlier.

Staring back toward the location, his gaze pierced through the distance.

What he saw caused his eyes to narrow slightly.

Massive cracks stretched across the sky above the dungeon.

Fragments of space drifted apart before slowly reconnecting.

The wounds in reality gradually repaired themselves, as though the world had suffered an injury and was now healing.

Amon recalled everything that had happened, along with the conversation he had shared with the Queen.

A cold light flashed through his eyes.

’They were sent to destroy this world?’
