Chapter 58: Join Neverland?

"Butcher, I have a proposal for you."

After a long journey, Levi had arrived at Cold Moon District.

What he didn’t know was that Amon’s present strength had long since surpassed that of his president.

Hearing the words, a flicker of curiosity crossed Amon’s eyes.

However, Amon didn’t make a move. Sitting calmly, he paid little attention to the words of whoever was speaking.

"I will wait for you at the president’s lounge. I’m here on a mission from my master, and I hope you can comply without forcing my hand too much."

Hearing his words, Amon frowned, but he still wasn’t particularly bothered.

The city began buzzing with lively chatter as soon as they heard the words that echoed in everyone’s ears.

The wait began.

Moments later, Kayla emerged from the room with a tired expression on her face.

She frowned as she stepped into the parlor, recalling the vague dream she had.

It was as though she were in a vast cosmos, shackled completely and unable to move.

Kayla furrowed her brows slightly. She’d never dreamt before, so she couldn’t help taking this one a little seriously.

Seeing Amon in the sitting room, relaxing on the sofa with a serene expression, his eyes closed as though he were sleeping, Kayla couldn’t help gently stepping into his embrace.

She curled against him like a little kitten and leaned into his chest with a worried expression.

"I had a dream..." Kayla paused, as though thinking of what to say next. "And I have this instinctive feeling that something terrible is approaching."

Hearing her words, Amon opened his eyes and glanced down at her.

His voice was as calm and gentle as ever.

Subconsciously, it eased all the worries Kayla was feeling.

Kayla began narrating her dream to Amon.

In her dream, she was within an empty, vast palace, interacting with silhouettes she couldn’t completely see. They were vague, yet she couldn’t resist whenever they gave her an order.

The dream continued in that manner, emotionless and monotonous, as though she had no past, present, or future.

Amon paid complete attention, listening to her share the dream.

After she was done, he stroked her hair.

"Its alright, Kaylie, its just a dream. Nothing’s going to happen."

Amon gently stroked her hair as he spoke.

Kayla felt comforted in his embrace.

Unknowingly, whenever she shared her worries with him, he always had a way of consoling her.

However, she didn’t notice the gloomy look on Amon’s face.

While Kayla was sharing her dream, his danger sense had begun tingling vaguely, as though uncertain.

However, Amon knew.

The danger sense shouldn’t have triggered without reason.

In essence, there was something very wrong with Kayla’s dream.

’Who is it? A new enemy?’

Amon didn’t know how one could attack through dreams.

That was one aspect of being an awakened he hadn’t explored yet.

He frowned slightly, thinking of what to do while continuing to console Kayla.

’It seems I’ll have to keep signing in to see if I’d obtain something related to dreams.’

’There’s also the man who came to meet me.’

Initially, he was hesitant, but thinking of his wife’s safety, it seemed he’d have to end up meeting the man from Neverland.

He had to ask him a few questions concerning where he could find treasures related to dreams and souls.

If he could protect his family, he would have no worries.

Even if it was one of low rank, he didn’t mind.

With the Fate Sign-In, he could gather the required fate points and keep upgrading it indefinitely.

With that in mind, Amon continued patting his wife.

Minutes seemed to blur as the couple remained in each other’s embrace when a cry pierced through the room.

Instinctively, Kayla opened her eyes, and a wry smile appeared on her face.

It seemed her cozy time with her husband had come to an end.

She quickly got up and muttered a quiet "thank you" to her husband before rushing away.

Before long, she had entered the room.

Knowing that her parents were having their time together, Ciara wouldn’t have loved to disturb them. Unfortunately, she had no choice.

She’d just finished cultivating, and her hunger was already getting to her.

With that in mind, she reluctantly summoned her mother with the familiar infant technique.

Crying.

Kayla quickly fed her, while Amon decided to prepare breakfast for himself and his wife.

Now another weight hung low, pressing against his neck.

He had to get a soul and dream defense treasure as soon as possible before it was too late.

Amon was lost in thought as he prepared breakfast.

Only when he was done did he notice his wife standing at the door with folded arms, staring at him in curiosity.

Amon gave her a light smile.

"You hungry?"

Kayla nodded and rubbed her stomach.

"I’m famished."

Amon forced a small chuckle, trying to hide his worry, but Kayla had long since noticed his abnormality.

"Is it due to the dream I told you?"

"What?" Amon was taken aback by her sudden words.

"Your expression from before, is it due to what I told you?"

Amon stared at her for a moment longer, then shook his head with a smile.

"Of course not. Dont worry about that. Head to the sitting room, I’ll bring breakfast shortly."

Hearing his words, Kayla stared at him for a few more seconds before turning around and heading off to have their meal.

...

Time passed calmly.

Before long, the couple was done having breakfast.

Amon had showered and dressed in a light green shirt and dark blue trousers.

After bidding Ciara and Kayla farewell, he boarded a taxi and told the driver his destination.

The car quickly sped away from their house.

After just a few meters, Amon shifted slightly, and the next instant he vanished.

The driver didn’t even realize his departure and continued driving as though nothing had happened.

This was the terrifying nature of Close Yet So Far.

There were no ripples in the air or space whenever it was activated.

Amon appeared at the warehouse where the Monarch of Death now lived.

As soon as he appeared, his clothes had already changed into those of the Butcher.

He glanced at Moon and said in a light tone,

"We’re going for a meeting."

Moon tilted his head ever so slightly.

Amon stretched forth his hand and placed it on Moon’s shoulder.

Having gone to the presidential suite previously before destroying the Demon Infant Organization, Amon activated Close Yet So Far, and distance lost its meaning before them.

One moment they were at the warehouse.

The next instant they were at the presidential suite.

The moment Amon arrived, the subtle change in the airflow within the presidential suite attracted the attention of Levi, who was an A-rank hunter.

He had been resting on the bed, not anticipating the Butcher answering his call today or even tomorrow.

However, as soon as he sensed the disturbance in the air, his eyes shot open.

"The Butcher is here..."

His brows furrowed slightly as he thought he’d felt wrong.

’What’s that devastating pressure?’

Even standing before the president of Neverland hadn’t felt like this. And he wasn’t even close to the Butcher yet.

’Based on what i know, the Butcher is supposed to be at D-rank... So... what on earth is going on?’
