Chapter 327: Chapter 325: Parting Is Only for a Better Reunion (Part 2)
"You’re my wife. There’s no need to thank me."
Celeste Grant gazed at her surroundings and couldn’t help but ask, "My love, where is this place?"
Hearing her question, Javier Sinclair glanced at their son, his eyes landing on the Ancient Jade in the boy’s hand.
"We’re inside the Heaven-Reaching Ancient Jade. This is a space I created long ago."
Javier Sinclair’s gaze swept over the sea of flowers and the ancient tree in the distance. "It’s quite beautiful here."
"Celeste, you like it here? I can move this space into your Onyx Ring, then."
Aaron Sinclair: "..."
’He was sure of it now.’
’He must have been adopted.’
’His parents were the real love story.’
’And he was the accident.’
But this was his mom, and she was different. Sometimes, he thought just like his father: as long as his mother was happy, something like this was a small matter. Hell, if she asked him to do the splits on the spot, he’d do it without hesitation.
At this thought, he quickly chimed in, "Mom, if you like it here, you can have the Ancient Jade."
Celeste Grant didn’t know whether to laugh or cry as she looked at the father and son.
"It’s alright, I don’t need it. Your father gave it to you, so you should keep it safe. I’m about to go back to my own world and might not be able to return for a while. Don’t you want to come find me?"
Aaron Sinclair shook his head vigorously. "That’s not it! Of course I’m going to find you, Mom!"
Celeste Grant had no objection to returning to her own body.
Now that she had the chance, she certainly wouldn’t miss it. Besides, she had been in this world for a long time and was eager to see her own again.
After that, the family of three spoke for a while. With time to spare, Aaron Sinclair waved his hand, producing pots, pans, bowls, and a kitchen knife. He announced that he was going to personally cook a delicious meal for them.
Celeste Grant and Javier Sinclair both knew their son couldn’t bear for them to leave and was just putting on a brave face. But he was grown up now. It was time for him to stand on his own two feet; they couldn’t be by his side forever.
While Aaron Sinclair was busy cooking,
Javier Sinclair was picking flowers to weave a crown for Celeste Grant. He sat with a focused expression, and Celeste sat beside him, resting her chin on her hand as she watched him with her head tilted.
’The father of her child...’
’...he was so handsome when he was focused on something.’
She reached out, her fingers gently twirling a lock of his hair.
"My Archfiend is so handsome."
Javier, who was weaving the crown, paused. His hands stilled as his gaze shifted to her face. He leaned closer and placed a soft kiss on her cheek.
A smile bloomed on Celeste Grant’s face.
Javier Sinclair went back to his work, selecting another flower for the crown. It was nearly finished—a beautiful weave of white and red blossoms intertwined with green vines.
"My love, the crown you’re weaving is beautiful."
Javier Sinclair raised an eyebrow, looking a little smug. "Of course it is. Did you think a small task like this could possibly stump me?"
In moments like this, he seemed so much more down-to-earth, a stark contrast to the cold, impassive Demon God he usually appeared to be.
Celeste Grant smiled faintly and handed him a flower. "This one’s nice."
He nodded slightly, taking it and weaving it into the crown.
With a few more deft movements of his fingers, the crown was complete.
He held it up to inspect it.
Nodding in satisfaction.
"Not bad. Here, try it on."
"Alright."
Celeste Grant leaned in, bowing her head slightly. Javier Sinclair placed the crown on her head, then gently tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
Celeste Grant shot him a playful glance. "Does it look good?"
Javier Sinclair nodded. "It’s beautiful. Only you are worthy of a crown woven by me."
Celeste Grant laughed. "So narcissistic."
Javier Sinclair wrapped his arms around her.
"It’s simply the truth."
"Celeste."
"I’m here."
"Your Cultivation is low and your Primordial Spirit is still very weak. Otherwise, I would take you straight back to the Demon Realm with me. The main issue is that the Innate Demon Aura there is too dense. It wouldn’t do you any good right now; in fact, absorbing too much could even damage your Primordial Spirit."
’He was like a big puppy,’ she thought, ’desperate to drag me back to his den.’
"It’s okay. The sooner you go, the sooner you’ll be back. I’ll take this chance to return to my own body. I’ll wait for you. Then, our family can be together again."
"Mm."
"However..."
Celeste Grant looked up, cupping his face in her hands and staring at him intently. "Old Fiend Sinclair, I’m warning you. If you dare leave and never come back, making me wait forever and ever... hmph. Or if you show up years later with a pregnant woman by your side and tell me you found a stand-in and fell in love with her. Or you lost your memory and fell for someone else in the meantime. If any of that happens, I don’t care if you’re the Demon God himself, I will not forgive you. I’ll divorce you and find our son a new dad."
The corner of Javier Sinclair’s mouth twitched.
’She could really spin a melodramatic tale. His wife’s imagination was truly one of a kind. Where did she even come up with this stuff?’
He pressed two fingers gently against her forehead. "Celeste Grant, you really need to read fewer of those trashy novels. They’ll rot your brain. I wouldn’t mind if it was just you, but it would be a problem if it affects my little girl."
Celeste Grant chuckled.
"Oh, so you’re calling me stupid?"
"I wouldn’t dare. It’s just a precaution."
"I’m not wrong, you know. There’s a saying: art imitates life, and so do melodramas. This is all based on my years of experience reading novels. The plots are always like this."
Javier Sinclair laughed softly. "My dear wife, rest assured, that kind of melodrama will never happen with me. Amnesia causing me to fall for someone else? Impossible. And finding a stand-in just because she resembles you? Even more impossible. They aren’t you, and they could never be like you. Your soul is one-of-a-kind. I would recognize you in an instant, no matter what form you take."
"Even if I did lose my memories, you are my Taoist Companion. Your mark is seared upon my Primordial Spirit for all eternity. Other things might change, but the Taoist Companion imprint never will. I would be able to find you through that bond. So, the scenario you described is impossible."
Celeste Grant squeezed his cheeks.
"Look at you, getting so serious. I was just teasing."
"Even teasing about it isn’t allowed."
"Alright, I get it."
「For the next three days, the family of three remained within the space of the Heaven-Reaching Ancient Jade.」
Until that night.
After hugging their son goodbye, Javier Sinclair and Celeste Grant prepared to leave.
Javier Sinclair’s current body had reached its limit. Celeste Grant watched as his hand began to dissipate.
Even though she knew it was coming, seeing it with her own eyes made tears stream down her face uncontrollably.
"Don’t cry. I’ll come find you soon."
She could feel his body slowly fading away, and when she reached out for him again, her hand passed through empty air.
"Javier Sinclair..."
"Celeste Grant, I love you."
"I love you too."
"Dad! Mom!"
"Son, you have to take care of yourself."
"Mom, you have to take care of yourself over there, too!"
The moment Javier Sinclair’s body dissipated, Celeste Grant’s figure vanished along with it.
She felt a powerful force pulling her away from this world.
