Chapter 278: Chapter 276: My Son Has Grown into a Handsome Young Man
And just like that, many more years had passed in the Cultivation World.
In all those years, the World’s Will had not appeared, and Jocelyn Grant had not surfaced since her Primordial Spirit was swept into a vortex by it. There had been no news of her whatsoever in the Cultivation World.
Celeste Grant knew she hadn’t vanished, nor was she dead. Instead, with the help of her protagonist’s halo, she was hiding away, preparing a big move. Celeste had a hunch that after developing for so long, the heroine was about to make her appearance.
Doing the math, seven years had passed since Celeste Grant had woken from her epiphany. Time really flew.
Looking back, those two years when her son was eight to ten years old were spent either busy with various money-making projects or dealing with Jocelyn Grant and her lovers. Most importantly, she had also become Taoist Companions with Javier Sinclair, fulfilling the KPI of having a husband and a son. ’Thinking about it, I was pretty busy,’ she mused.
But after Jocelyn Grant disappeared, she hadn’t shown her face for nearly five years. Without Jocelyn to help pass the time, Celeste felt a little idle.
At this thought, her eyes curved into a gentle smile.
Jocelyn Grant didn’t even have a body when she left. Celeste was very curious what kind of identity she would return with.
"Jocelyn Grant, I’m starting to miss you a little."
At that moment, on the roof of Cloud Abyss Hall in the Bloodfiend Den, Celeste Grant was lying down with one hand propping up her head, looking at her phone.
On her phone’s screen, a female cultivator was singing with deep emotion. She was a female cultivator who had become quite popular in the Cultivation World over the past two years and was also a member of their Bloodfiend Den’s entertainment team.
It was a live stream. The female cultivator was holding a concert in a Cultivator City within the Immortal Sect’s territory, a long way from where Celeste was.
The familiar melody began as soon as she started singing.
"If only we could fly as one."
"Soaring, soaring, side by side."
"How I wish to be with you forever."
"If only we could fly as one."
"Soaring, soaring, side by side."
"Together always, with no regrets..."
This familiar melody and these familiar lyrics definitely didn’t exist in the Cultivation World.
Celeste Grant had brought the songs from her old home, Earth, to the Cultivation World and found suitable people to perform them.
As for whether she’d bought the copyrights? Absolutely not. Being in the Cultivation World, she had no way to purchase them. However, for every song she brought over, she made sure to credit the original artist. She didn’t claim others’ work as her own; she wasn’t shameless enough to pretend she could write such good songs.
Since Jocelyn Grant hadn’t reappeared these past few years, Celeste had developed the entertainment sector in her spare time outside of Cultivation.
And that wasn’t all.
She had put out bounties in the Cultivation World to collect all sorts of songs, buying the copyrights for them.
Any song she selected was rewarded with at least tens of thousands of Spirit Stones. For masterpiece songs with beautiful lyrics and ethereal melodies, she paid anywhere from hundreds of thousands to a million Spirit Stones. As a result, many Cultivators had become rich overnight in the past two years by composing music and writing lyrics.
Earth had countless songs in every imaginable style. Unfortunately, before she transmigrated, Celeste Grant’s brain capacity was limited, so she could only remember a few. For the rest, she could at most recall a line or two from the chorus, so she couldn’t bring them over even if she wanted to.
On her phone screen, the live stream continued. The familiar, catchy melody and lyrics burrowed into her mind.
"Burn, burn, burn."
"Burn with your voice."
"Burn my everything."
"Burn my life..."
Here, people might just find the song passionate and beautiful, never imagining the tear-jerking drama behind it.
Back in her previous world, this song was a nostalgic memory for many, especially for her mother’s generation. Many girls had been forced to watch it with their parents as children—a melodrama that had drawn countless tears from its audience.
After the song ended, Celeste Grant put her phone back into her Storage Ring and lay quietly on the roof for a while.
"Listening to music, basking in the sun... this is the life."
The weather had been wonderful recently, bright and sunny most of the time.
Just like today, with fluffy white clouds dotting the sky. The warm sunlight felt wonderfully comfortable, accompanied by a gentle breeze.
As Celeste Grant was basking in the sun, she looked up and saw a wisp of black energy appear not far from her. At the same time, a tear in space opened up, and a figure emerged from within.
The person had a tall, slender figure with broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long legs. He wore a set of red and white robes embroidered with crimson-gold patterns. His ink-black hair was casually tied back with a single golden ribbon, and a golden hair ornament with dangling tassels adorned one side of his head.
His handsome face, with its phoenix eyes, high-bridged nose, and picturesque features, made him look like a beautiful young man who had stepped right out of a painting.
Seeing him, a single phrase popped into Celeste Grant’s mind: ’My son is all grown up!’ This was her son, Aaron Sinclair, who was fifteen years old this year.
With a face like his, you wouldn’t even need a paternity test. Any outsider could tell at a glance that he was Javier Sinclair’s son; he was the spitting image of his father.
"Mother, look what I caught!"
As the young man spoke, Celeste instinctively replied, "Seeing you grinning from ear to ear, what did you catch?"
The moment she finished speaking, she saw her son drag a massive fish, several meters long, out of the spatial rift behind him and throw it to the ground. The fish was restrained by Magic, and its tail only twitched twice after it landed.
"Whoa, what a huge fish!"
Seeing the fish, Celeste Grant quickly scrambled up from her lounging position on the roof.
She walked forward a bit and looked down, her gaze falling upon the massive fish, which looked plump and delicious.
This fish was a real treasure. Celeste Grant looked astonished. "This is a Seventh Rank Sea Beast, a Spirit-Seeking Fish! Every part of this fish is a treasure. Its bones can be used for refining Magic Treasures, its meat can increase one’s Cultivation, and even its eyes can be used for Alchemy."
’If any of those fishing fanatics saw this, they’d be green with envy,’ she thought.
She pointed at the fish on the ground below and asked, "Son, where did you catch this? I’m discovering you have the makings of a true fishing fanatic."
Aaron Sinclair, standing in the air before her, put one hand on his hip, a smug look on his face. "Mother, didn’t you say a few days ago that you were craving steamed fish head with chopped chili? I made a trip to the Endless Sea to catch one for you. I was originally planning to get a Snowmist Fish, but then this Spirit-Seeking Fish showed up."
Hearing this, Celeste Grant remembered that she had casually mentioned wanting steamed fish head with chopped chili a couple of days ago. Her son had actually gone out of his way to catch a fish for her.
A warmth spread through her heart. Her son was so filial.
She then saw her son point to the fish on the ground and start listing off dishes. "The head is perfect for steamed fish head with chopped chili. We can slice the belly meat for a hot pot, and grill the tail. And we can chop up the bones to stew with tofu for a Spiritual Medicine soup."
Celeste Grant raised a hand to stop him. "Don’t say another word," she said. "You’re making my mouth water."
