Chapter 52: Chapter 52

Kieran’s POV

I sat in a dining chair, lingering in the tiny kitchen of my apartment—a snug space, perfect for a single man. The place had two bedrooms; I assumed Ana occupied one while Kyra used the other. When Kyra left her old place, she brought Ana along with her.

Inside my mind, my inner wolf Ronan paced restlessly, still buzzing with the memories of last night. He roared with satisfaction as Kyra had surrendered herself to us—a wild, burning passion that neither of us could deny, though she hadn’t completely yielded herself.

I could still feel the lingering warmth of her touch—her nails digging into my back, the gasping moans that left her breathless, and her body trembling beneath mine. For the first time in years, I experienced something beyond the usual cold control: pride, possessiveness, and a raw hunger that went far beyond simple desire.

Nearby, ever the dutiful Omega maid, Ana hovered with a scent tinged with unease. "Sir, would you like some coffee?" she asked hesitantly.

I shook my head, my attention fixed on the simple breakfast I’d prepared. For an Alpha like me, this domestic scene was a rarity, but Kyra deserved nothing less. "I’m waiting for Kyra."

"Alpha Kieran, should I call Miss Kyra now?" she ventured, her voice betraying nervousness.

Her fear was unmistakable. Normally, I would revel in that power, but not today. Today, I wasn’t the merciless, brutal king of the pack—I was a man who had finally come into possession of the woman he’d dreamed about for years.

"Relax," Ronan warned inside.

I felt my temper rising, a storm of anger mingling with something else, yet I closed my eyes and forced myself to calm down. Kyra wasn’t just any she-wolf—she was exceptional, and in her presence, I had to keep my anger in check. I needed to change, just as I’d promised, if I were to be worthy of her.

Drawing in a sharp breath, I pushed back my fury and glanced at my watch with a frown. Her shower was taking too long.

‘Is she avoiding us?’ Ronan roared in my mind.

My mood darkened, but I gritted my teeth, resisting the urge to kick open the door and demand answers. Control. Patience. If I wanted Kyra to stay, I had to prove I was no longer the savage who once terrified her.

"Sir..." Ana began, hesitantly.

I ignored her and strode purposefully toward Kyra’s bedroom. Knocking on her door, I called, "Kyra?"

Silence. Was she still showering? I worried she might fall ill if she waited too long.

My heart began pounding. If she slipped away, then last night would have meant nothing.

At last, a timid voice answered, "Y-yes?"

I exhaled, trying to sound calm as I replied, "Breakfast is ready. Eat before you head out—I have to leave now."

"Coward," Ronan sneered in my mind. You’re retreating.

I disregarded his barb. If Kyra needed space, I’d give it to her—at least for now. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Okay, thanks," she murmured.

I only nodded, turning away with a mix of wounded pride and quiet dejection. I’d planned to share breakfast with her, but she seemed uncomfortable in my presence. Perhaps I’d try again another time.

Later, at the office, I headed straight for my private suite to shower and change. The moment I stepped inside, however, an unexpected scent invaded my nostrils.

Emily.

There she was, sprawled naked on the sofa, legs provocatively spread as she caressed herself. The odor clinging to her was overbearing—a crude, sick imitation of the intoxicating sweetness that surrounded Kyra.

Ronan roared in disgust. ‘Disgusting.’

"What the hell are you doing here?" I growled, my voice dangerously low.

Emily merely smirked, deliberately savoring the moment as she slowly licked one of her fingers. "I thought a little office romp might be fun. What do you think, Alpha?"

I sneered. "Cut it out, Emily. We’re done."

She laughed carelessly. "So, did you end up with your stepsister? How did it feel? Was she any better than me? I’d wager I have more experience."

Flames of anger surged within me. Before I could react, Ronan lunged forward, his internal roar echoing like a threat to rip her throat out.

But I clenched my fist and exhaled sharply. No—we both knew Kyra had seen enough of my brutality. I wouldn’t give her any more reasons to be afraid.

"Get out," I hissed. "Or I’ll toss you out myself."

Emily’s smile faltered instantly. She knew I wasn’t bluffing.

I sent a mind link to my Beta, Felix. "Remove this woman from my sight."

Emily shook her head, and with a sly lick of her finger—still fixing her eyes on mine—she said, "Don’t think you won’t regret it, Kieran. Just because you slept with her once doesn’t mean you own her. She’s still your stepsister, and you know she won’t ignore your parents’ marriage. Besides, do you really think your pack members could handle their Alpha getting mated with a rejected Luna?"

After quickly dressing, Emily exited my office. Her words hit like a sledgehammer.

"Alpha Kieran," Felix said as he entered.

I immediately grabbed his collar, glaring. "Who the hell let her in?"

"Yes, Alpha Kieran. Your growing attachment to your stepsister is becoming a threat. You should stick to the original plan, or everything resets. I don’t want you to end up regretting anything, so I’m here to help you overcome these feelings. Your obsession with Kyra is endangering everything we’ve built."

Felix didn’t even flinch.

Ronan’s fury bubbled up. ‘How dare he question his Alpha!’

I seized Felix by the throat and slammed him against the wall. "Who are you to decide for me? Have you forgotten my last warning? You’re not allowed to speak ill of her."

The fear in his eyes should have been enough, but it wasn’t.

"I’m sorry, Alpha, but I can’t stand watching you go soft over a woman."

That was the last straw. I yanked him closer and landed a punch square in his gut. He coughed but stayed upright, head bowed.

With gritted teeth, Felix pounded twice on the table’s surface. Suddenly, the door swung open, and a line of women appeared.

I stared in disbelief at each one. One of them was visibly pregnant, another barely of age—the whole scene was absurd. Was he trying to set me up with another woman so I’d forget Kyra? It was ludicrous.

Then I noticed one of the women bore an uncanny resemblance to Kyra. My brow furrowed, and my expression turned grave.

Ronan fell into a deathly silence. This was sacrilege.

"You can have any she-wolf you desire, Alpha Kieran," Felix panted, "but never Kyra. She’s your enemy."

While speaking, he nodded toward the woman who looked exactly like Kyra.

She advanced slowly, gathering her clothes as she moved toward me.

Before her hand could reach out, I gritted my teeth, snatched up my Swiss Army knife, and hurled it at Felix. The blade sliced across his neck, inciting terrified shrieks from the women.

Felix’s face turned ashen, eyes wide as he stared at me. I slowly advanced, grabbed his collar again, and trembled with fury as I spoke.

"Is this really how low you think I am, Felix? That I’d stoop so far just for a night’s pleasure? Do you really think I’d lower myself to such despicable behavior? Clearly, you don’t understand what’s at stake here."

Felix immediately lowered his gaze, avoiding my eyes. "I just meant—"

"Your only duty is obedience!" I roared, my voice so fierce it shook the windows. "Don’t you ever question your Alpha’s decisions!"

With one final shove, I sent him crashing to the ground. He scrambled up quickly, motioning for the women to leave. I watched silently as each one exited my room.

Ronan paced angrily, a reminder echoing: these pack members had forgotten their place. They needed to be reminded who truly led them.

That thought should have comforted me, but beneath my anger lay a deeper fear—perhaps Emily was right.

If even my beta couldn’t accept Kyra, then what hope did the rest of my pack have? Could they ever accept Kyra as my Luna?

Perhaps that was something even an Alpha couldn’t change.
