Snow’s POV
When I was a little girl, I always thought a family was just a mommy and a child.
My mommy Kyra is a gentle, strong, and kind woman. She would stay by my side when I was sick, work hard to raise me, and give me anything I wanted.
My mommy and I were the most inseparable pair in the world.
Until I went to kindergarten, when the other kids said families were made of a woman, a man, and children. They said people without a ’daddy’ were abandoned.
I didn’t believe them, so I fought with them.
I punched that little boy who was bullying me right in the face.
Mommy got called to the school, and when we got home she asked me why I was bullying others. After I explained, she kept apologizing and held me while she cried. She said she was sorry I didn’t have a father.
I didn’t understand why mommy was apologizing. I didn’t actually care about having a father or not. I had the best mommy in the world.
But to make mommy not sad anymore, I decided to start my journey to find a daddy.
I thought Kieran Carver was my father because I once heard my mommy say his name. I was wrong. It was Nathan Anderson. He’s my father and I proved it when he finally admitted the truth to me.
I was young but I understood our situation. My mother and father fell apart after hurting each other. I wanted to believe it was someone’s fault but I chose to forget that part.
My parents did everything to keep me away from the mess. I know our family was messy but they hid it from me.
Now I’m eighteen, and things are different. I have my wolf Lola, who came to me when I turned sixteen. She’s feisty like me.
"Snow, you’re spacing out again," Lola said inside my head.
"Just thinking," I replied silently.
I’m the daughter of Alpha Nathan from the Nightfall Pack. Even though my friends are from another territory, the boys are all nice to me.
My brother Pierre is five years younger than me. He’s about thirteen now, acting like a typical rebellious teenager instead of the little boy who used to follow me around calling me sister.
Father Alpha Nathan isn’t strict with him at all, but Grandpa Richard thinks that’s wrong. He says Pierre needs to learn fighting and pack management as the future Alpha heir. So Pierre’s schedule is packed with lessons. He escapes from them all the time.
I think I inherited some of mommy’s smart genes. Daddy once said mother was a super scholar in high school. I always get high scores on my tests too. When I’m reading, Pierre calls me a nerd, but unfortunately for him, I can beat him up easily. I also score high in pack training. The teachers say I could be an excellent warrior someday.
Grandpa even said if I were a boy, I’d definitely be more suitable to be Alpha than Pierre.
Since mother was the daughter of the Alpha from the Raven Shadow Pack, that pack should have been inherited by Kieran Carver originally. But now that there’s no Alpha, it merged with father’s Nightfall Pack. So our pack became the largest pack in this region.
As the Alpha’s daughter of this pack, my coming of age ceremony turned into a complicated social ’Debutante Ball.’
My father invited excellent young women my age from various packs, and invited high-ranking Alphas to attend.
I complained to mother, saying this was way too formal. I had to prepare gowns for this Debutante Ball, learn to dance, and prepare for charity auctions and fundraising.
My mother, Luna Kyra, told me, "Because you’re completely your father’s precious treasure, he wants you to have the best of everything."
I had no choice but to prepare patiently.
Of course, mother also said it was because of my male friends, the guys I grew up with. Father didn’t approve of any of them. He thought none were good enough for me.
I couldn’t stop laughing.
But mother was still serious when she told me, "Eighteen also means for werewolves that you can find your fated mate."
I put my arm around mother’s shoulder affectionately and said, "Mommy and daddy aren’t fated mates but they live happily together, right? I don’t believe in that stuff."
Mother hugged me. "That’s a very complicated emotional issue, Snow, but if you do meet someone, mommy hopes you’ll be happy."
I think my male friends are just good friends, except Oliver is definitely different with me. Oliver is an Alpha heir from another pack.
"Snow, look at this."
I turned to see my guy friends looking at me. I don’t want to believe they only became friends with me because they have crushes on me. Dad was just overreacting. I know it.
"What’s that? I can’t see anything," I said because Oliver suddenly covered my eyes.
He chuckled. "It’s dark, right? That’s my life without you."
I heard groans from our other friends but a familiar voice clearing his throat caught my attention.
I immediately pushed Oliver’s hand away and looked at the man standing beside a black car. His face looked annoyed but he still looked handsome.
"Daddy!" I called excitedly and ran to him. I jumped and threw myself into his arms. He wrapped his arms around my waist and lifted me from the ground as he kissed my cheek.
"How’s my little princess?"
I smirked and looked at him. "Dad, I’m almost an adult!"
He chuckled and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Even when you’re thirty, you’ll still be me and your mom’s baby..."
I giggled. "Are you with Pierre?"
Even though Pierre is naughty, I still love my brother just as much as I love mom and dad.
Dad was about to answer when his eyes landed on the boys behind me. I bit my bottom lip and looked at my friends.
Oliver and the others immediately said goodbye and left. I looked at dad again and frowned at him.
"Daddy, you scared them!"
"I didn’t."
"You did! They’re my friends, dad. I already introduced them to you."
"Yes, you introduced them to us 10 years ago, Snow. And I still have the same opinion about them. They have crushes on my baby princess!"
I felt my cheeks heat up. "Daddy, that’s not true!"
He just shook his head and opened the passenger door. I got inside and smiled at him. He was still frowning but after a few seconds, he chuckled and pinched my nose.
"You brat!"
