Chapter 133: Chapter 133

Kyra’s POV

I opened my eyes slowly, blinking away the sleep. The first thing I saw was Nathan’s warm brown eyes looking at me so gently it made my heart skip a beat. Even Sylvia moved happily inside me, just because he was here.

"I was too rough last night. I’m sorry," he whispered.

I turned to face him and pressed my hands between my cheek and the pillow. "Thank you," I said softly—not just for caring, but for saving me last night.

He smiled. His fingers gently touched my bare shoulder, sending little sparks through my body. "Feeling better?"

I nodded and bit my lip as I remembered last night. "Those guys... last night..."

"I already reported them," Nathan said. "They’re with the authorities now. I’ll make sure my enforcers follow up and they’ll be punished by pack law."

"I think someone else was involved," I said quietly. "The drug was from the party. Someone at the Foster Empire celebration."

His jaw tightened. "Just as I thought. Don’t worry. Whoever is behind this, I’ll make sure they face consequences too. No one touches my..." He stopped himself, but I knew what he was going to say.

"I’m going to have my pack’s security team find out who had access to the drinks," he continued. "The Fosters might not be part of the Northern Territory leadership, but they’re still powerful. Family fights can get ugly."

I closed my eyes tightly, feeling the weight of everything pressing down on me. "I know. I’ll be more careful. I can’t let something like that happen again."

His fingers moved gently from my arm to my cheek. "If I had my way, I’d never leave your side. Then again, if it means more nights like last night..."

I felt my cheeks grow hot and hit his chest playfully. "You’ve changed, Nathan Anderson. What happened to the proper gentleman I knew?"

He laughed. "He met you."

I smiled in spite of everything. His touch made me feel better, grounding me in a way nothing else could.

"I called Ana," he said after a moment. "Snow is still asleep. You should rest more. It’s still early."

I looked into his eyes. I needed his reassurance. "Do you think I’m doing the right thing? Taking over my mother’s family business? The Foster connections could help protect Snow, but it puts us in danger from pack politics."

"You’re doing this for Snow," he said firmly. "There’s no right or wrong choice here. All you can do is be ready for whatever happens. Good or bad, you have to face everything with strength."

I smiled at him, warmth blooming in my chest. "Do you trust me that much?"

His eyes softened, and Sylvia purred inside me at the depth of emotion shining there. "I trust you too much."

I took a deep breath and moved closer to him. I pressed myself against his chest and closed my eyes again. Under the white sheets, we were both naked, but I didn’t mind. After everything we’d been through, I deserved this peaceful moment in his arms.

I felt him kiss my hair. His lips lingered there for a moment. "What do you want for breakfast? I’ll call room service."

"Let’s sleep a little longer and just grab something on the drive home later."

I fell asleep again, feeling safer than I had in months.

When I opened my eyes the second time, I saw Nathan sitting on the edge of the bed. I was facing his back as he talked to someone on the phone.

"Yes, I’ll drive her home today." His voice sounded happy.

I slowly sat up, watching him.

"No, we’re not, sweetheart. Your mommy hasn’t made me her boyfriend yet," he said playfully into the phone.

He was talking to Snow. I bit my lip, and that’s when he noticed me watching and glanced back.

"Hmm! You want to talk to mommy? Alright!"

I raised an eyebrow as Nathan handed me his phone. He tilted his head with that smile that always made my heart flutter. "She wants to talk to you."

I took the phone, looking into Nathan’s eyes.

"Hello, sweetie?"

"Mommy! Good morning!" Snow’s excited voice came through.

"Good morning. Have you eaten?"

"Yes, mommy. I ate pancakes. You’re with daddy Nathan, right?"

I looked at Nathan. He was now getting food ready on the coffee table.

"Yes, I’m with him." Nathan glanced over at me when I said that.

"Please, tell him to come here. I miss him, mommy."

"Hmm. Okay."

I didn’t have much choice, and honestly, I wanted them to spend time together. After Snow ended the call, I got out of bed and put my dress back on. I walked to Nathan barefoot and sat on the couch beside him.

He gave me a plate of food. "What did she say?"

"She wants you to visit her."

Nathan smiled sweetly, but then turned serious. "I’d love to, but is that okay? I mean, with everything between us..."

"It doesn’t bother me now, Nathan. As long as Snow is safe."

He nodded. "Then I’ll visit her later."

"After breakfast, drop me off at the event place from last night. I need to get my car."

"No need." He drank his water. "I had someone take it to the basement parking last night."

I smiled. "Thanks. We can drive separately later or you can go first."

"Let’s go home together."

I smiled again and nodded.

We did as we planned. We drove together until we reached the condo tower. His car followed mine the whole way. We parked in the basement. He even waited for me so we could go to the elevator together.

We were almost at the elevator when I saw someone in the side mirror of a car we passed. My blood went cold as Sylvia growled a warning inside me.

I stopped in front of the elevator and looked at Nathan, who was waiting for me to join him.

"Go ahead. I left something in my car."

His forehead wrinkled with worry. "I’ll go with you."

"It’s okay." I forced a smile and shook my head. I needed to handle this alone.

He stared at me for a few seconds before nodding. After the elevator door closed, I turned and walked toward where I’d seen him.
