Chapter 109: Chapter 109

Kyra’s POV

Kieran laughed maniacally as he stared at Nathan, his grip on my arm unwavering despite my struggles. His neck flushed crimson with rage at the sight of the intruder.

My heart pounded wildly. Nathan was here. Why? Did Phoebe tell him? And Snow... my daughter... did she bring her to him? Even in the midst of all this danger, terror gripped my heart at the possibility that Nathan had already met Snow. I wasn’t ready for that—not yet.

"Funny how you bravely say that while I’m holding a gun," Kieran taunted, brushing the weapon against his cheek with a smirk. "Do you think you can stand against my bullet, Anderson? You’d be buried six feet under even before you got close to me."

I watched Nathan’s fists tremble as he clenched them. When his eyes found mine, they immediately softened. "Are you all right?"

"Don’t ask her such stupid questions, Anderson," Kieran snapped, clearly offended. "I love Kyra. I would never hurt her."

"Fight fair, asshole," Nathan growled. "Abducting her and keeping her in a secluded place won’t win her heart. She doesn’t want to be with you anymore."

"And she wants to be with you?" Kieran sneered. "Just admit that I’m wiser than you, Anderson. I managed to find her even with her hidden identity."

I squeezed my eyes shut. Everything would become even more complicated with these two facing each other. Kieran’s hatred for Nathan ran so deep that he could kill him without hesitation.

When I opened my eyes again, Nathan was staring at my face, gauging my reaction. Suddenly, Kieran lifted his gun. "Say goodbye to the beautiful world, Anderson."

"NO!" I screamed, pushing Kieran’s arm. The bullet hit the couch instead, and Nathan ducked behind the wall. Relief washed over me when I saw he was unharmed.

"KILL HIM!" Kieran shouted to his men before dragging me away.

"Let me go, Kieran!" I growled, looking back fearfully as gunfire erupted toward Nathan’s position.

I gasped when Kieran hauled me to the rooftop, where a helicopter waited. He had planned this escape all along.

"Let’s go, Kyra. I won’t let that asshole take you away from me."

I shook my head, looking into his eyes pleadingly. "I don’t want to go, Kieran. Please..."

"I can’t leave you here, Kyra. You need to come with me."

"I don’t want to be with you," I begged. "Please... just let me go."

His jaw clenched before he suddenly hoisted me into his arms. I shrieked and grabbed his hair. "Put me down, Kieran! You can’t force me like this!"

When he placed me in the helicopter, I slapped at his men who tried to restrain me and kicked Kieran hard in the stomach. I jumped out of the chopper, but Kieran wrapped his arm around my waist.

"Alpha Kieran, we need to leave," his Beta shouted urgently.

Panic surged through me. I bit down hard on Kieran’s shoulder, making him scream and release me.

"Kyra!"

I ran to the edge of the rooftop and faced him. His eyes widened as he stood there frozen, unable to follow me anymore.

Tears streamed down my cheeks out of anger. He couldn’t force me like that.

"Kyra..." His eyes and voice softened. "Babe..."

I angrily wiped my tears. "I’ll jump from here, Kieran."

It scared me. I didn’t want to die, but pushing his emotions to the limit with my own life might wake him up from his stupid illusions.

He slowly shook his head. His shoulders dropped, and he seemed to have lost his strength and bravery. "You won’t...do that."

"I will," I answered, laughing like a madwoman. "I’d rather die than be caged with you."

Suddenly, a barrage of gunshots rang out. Several armed warriors in tactical gear stormed onto the rooftop. I recognized their insignias immediately—Gamma warriors from the Alpha Council. Someone had called them in.

"SURRENDER NOW!" one of them shouted as they surrounded us.

Kieran’s eyes widened with rage. "You dare interfere?" he snarled, but before he could raise his weapon again, two shots were fired. One bullet hit his shoulder, the other his stomach.

"Alpha!" his Beta shouted in panic.

Despite his wounds, Kieran lunged for me again, blood spreading across his shirt. "They can’t take you from me," he growled, his eyes wild with obsession. "Kyra, you’re mine!"

I stepped back, horrified by the madness in his eyes. He was bleeding heavily but seemed not to care at all.

Two of Kieran’s men grabbed him, trying to pull him to the chopper. "Alpha, we have to go! The Alpha Council’s sending more forces!"

"NO!" Kieran roared, still reaching for me even as blood poured from his wounds. "I won’t leave without her!"

"We’ll die if we stay!" his Beta shouted, forcibly dragging him toward the helicopter. Kieran fought against them, his eyes never leaving mine, filled with a mixture of pain, rage, and desperate longing.

"I’ll come back for you," he promised as they finally managed to get him into the chopper. "This isn’t over!"

When the chopper finally lifted off, I felt my knees trembling. I lost my balance, but even before I fell to the floor, a pair of warm arms wrapped around my waist and caught me.

I lifted my face and looked at the man who caught me. Nathan... the first man I ever loved romantically. He had been my best friend and swore to protect me when we got married, but he eventually hurt me. Now, he was back in my life, and I was so afraid of trusting him again.

He caressed my cheek, wiping the tears from my face. His eyes were soft as he swallowed hard again and again.

"Are you okay?" His gentle voice filled my ear, but my mind was in complete chaos.

I pushed him away and stood straight. If he ended up like Kieran because of his feelings for me... I didn’t need his love. My life was already messy enough. I didn’t want another mad love to ruin me further. I just wanted a simple life with my daughter. I didn’t mind getting old and gray without a man beside me. My daughter was enough.
